PROTECTING REBEL might be the 21st book in the Red Stone Security series, but it is still an amazing, heart-thumping read--to be expected when it comes to author Katie Reus.

A friends to lovers story with Protecting Rebel. They had been childhood friends with Rebel even moving in with Weston and his aunt to keep safe from her neglectful mother’s string of boyfriends and there was always a spark between them, but it was never the right time, and both were probably hesitant to do anything that might’ve risked their friendship. Both went their separate ways following their dreams, Weston into the army and Rebel on her path to stardom but they’d always kept in touch via email. Now singing superstar Rebel reunites with Weston, now a billionaire security expert at his aunt’s funeral. Finally, the place and time is right for them both to finally give into their feelings… well once they deal with Rebel’s stalker that is!
This is a quick, angst free read albeit relatively slow burn when it came to the romance side of things, with great characters in Rebel and Weston although I didn’t really sense much chemistry between them. The love, they had for each other was apparent but for me they had more of a married twenty years and comfortable with each other vibe than can’t keep their hands off each other. I did enjoy the whole stalker storyline, but I would’ve loved it to have been fleshed out a bit more, building up the tension but I have to award bonus points for several characters from previous books making appearances, in this case Nash and Juan. Protecting Rebel is a great addition to the Redstone security series but can easily be read as a standalone without spoiling earlier books for you.
Protecting rebel by Katie Rues.
Red stone security series book 21.
I really enjoyed this book. I loved Rebel and Weston and how they were with each other. I loved Elliana she was badass. Paige I liked Anna I wasn't sure about. I did like detective Duarte. I loved Anthony and Bailey. I was surprised with who it actually was. I liked Anna in the end. Juan and Angel. Nash. Molly and Tag. They were like one big family. I loved the dogs Jupiter and Lucky. I do hope there is more to come. 5*.
My first book by this author, and the best recommendation I can give is that I promptly purchased several older books and am excited to see the next installments in the series. Despite knowing our hero and heroine were going to end up together essentially from page 1, it was an entertaining read that had enough drama and suspense to keep the reader going, but not overly much so (which would have been tricky in a shorter format).
I received an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
Childhood friends Rebel and Weston, finally find their way to lovers in this new installment of the Red Stone Security series. This was a really fun read! I am not usually a fan of childhood friends to lovers, but this was a great story. I liked that though they lived separate and successful lives and still maintained their friendship. Outside of some misunderstanding there wasn’t a whole lots standing in the way of them being together. So this was a very low angst book, and the drama was really around the mystery. Though this is a later installment in the Red Stone Security series it can definitely be read as a standalone.
Overall this is a great read, if you’re a fan of Katie Reus’ style of romantic suspense you’ll enjoy this book!
Read and reviewed this Advanced Reader Copy from NetGalley.
Rebel & Weston are childhood best friends whom both followed their dreams after high school. Always staying in touch.
When Rebel comes home to for the end of her musical tour these two become even closer.
And Weston finally tells Rebel how he feels, and she reveals she feels the same way.
But someone doesn't want Rebel to be happy.
This was a great romantic suspense. With some amazing characters.
Weston was the best. I absolutely loved him and enjoyed every minute of his and Rebel's story! I really hope Weston's co-worker, Elliana, gets her own story. She was so funny, and I can't wait to see how everything turns out with the neighbor!
We take another trip to Red Stone Security. Weston and Rebel have been best friends forever. Rebel finds herself in a situation where she needs Weston’s help. Finally they come to terms with their feelings for each other. Lots of action and suspense and loved seeing Detective Duarte again!
This was an entertaining, well-written book. It was action packed, suspenseful, tender, fun and steamy. It kept me reading to find out what was going to happen. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books by this author.
PROTECTING REBEL is the twenty-first instalment in Katie Reus’ contemporary, adult RED STONE SECURITY romantic suspense series. This is thirty-two year old, billionaire investor/app developer Weston Davis, and musician Rebel Martinez’ story line. PROTECTING REBEL can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
Told from omniscient third person perspectives PROTECTING REBEL follows the rekindling relationship between Weston Davis and Rebel Martinez. Weston and Rebel were childhood friends but their future careers sent them in opposite directions. Weston joined the Marines then became a successful investor while Rebel’s music star rose around the world. Rebel’s return home to Miami is met with an increase of threats, and Weston is about to take control of the woman he has always loved. Rebel has a stalker so Weston hires the team at Red Stone Security when the threats against Rebel become dangerous and dark. What ensues is the best friends to lovers relationship between Rebel and Weston, and the potential fall-out when threats against Rebel hit too close to home.
The relationship between Rebel and Weston is one of second chances, of a sort. Rebel and Weston were childhood friends but Rebel’s home life was questionable at best, and when Weston joined the Marines, Rebel went to live with the woman who had raised the man that she loved. Having always kept in contact, Rebel was surprised to discover just how often Weston kept track of her life, a life that was about to a little more complicated. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate.
The secondary and supporting characters include several members of Rebel’s entourage and team, singers and roadies, assistants and agents, as well as a guest appearance from a couple of RSS agents.
PROTECTING REBEL is a story of jealousy and obsession, friendships and relationships, second chances and love. The character driven premise is intriguing and entertaining but there is only an outside /tentative connection to the Red Stone Security characters ; the romance is seductive and fated; the characters are energetic and dynamic.

Holy Hotness! Weston and Rebel's chemistry is smoking. I always enjoy this series and this book is a great example of why. My favorite part was the glimpses into the depth of the long standing friendship. And the suspense keeps things hopping. I read it in one sitting. One of the best yet!
This was the 21st book in the Red Stone Security series, and although it was mentioned several times, it very much took the back seat in this story. Weston and Rebel had been childhood friends, then grew apart as Weston went into he Marines, and Rebel made a name for herself as a singer. The story really begins as they get back together, with Weston being a collaborator with Red Stone Security and wanting / needing to protect Rebel. She has been getting viscous emails that her manager has kept from her, but Weston knows about them and needs to keep her safe. Along the way we see their romance blossom as danger comes closer to Rebel. These are always fun stories, but I wish we saw a few more other couples from the previous books. These are considered to be romantic suspense, and this was light on the suspense and more of the romance. I always enjoy Katie Reus and she is one of the most prolific writers of today. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own
A big thank you to NetGalley and KR Press, LLC for the eARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is part of a series, but reads well as a stand alone. I have not read all of the books in the series. This is a cute, short, fun book. There is a small amount of suspense. It is a childhood friends to lovers genre. 4 stars Well worth the read.
Another well written story in this series and while it is part of the Red Stone Protection world neither of the characters work for them Rather they are called in to protect Rebel Martinez a singing sensation who has far reaching links to Weston Davis ex military man billionaire and a new partner for Red Stone. Rebel and Weston have history he moved to live with his aunt when he was young and lost his parents she was a neighbourhood child who had a very bad home life and spent a lot of time with him and his Aunt Margaret they went their separate ways as teens him to joining the military her to become a star but they always kept in touch. Now they are both back to attend Aunt Margaret's funeral and the connection between them is even stronger Can they build something between them and can he keep her safe when she has danger growing ever closer You will have to read to se if they finally get their HEA
Protecting Rebel is a nice addition to this series it checks all the boxes we get a easy smooth flowing plot with a little suspense, a slow burn romance with a combustible chemistry between Weston and Rebel and a return of a few of the core characters from the series as a support system add a few surprises and a little drama and we have a entertaining story.
I received a advance readers copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
I love this series and was thrilled to see a new installment! This has the same great romance and suspense of the other 20 books but with some fun new elements. I love a good friends to lovers romance, and if he also becomes her self-designated bodyguard? Sign my up. I also just loved how she chased her dreams while her cheered her on from the sidelines. I loved every minute and couldn't put this book down. So excited for #22!
Such a good book. I love this series and them. Very glad to see it continuing. The storyline had a lot of depth, intrigue, and depth of characters. The pace of the book was very good, and never seem to bog down.
Protecting Rebel is Red Stone Security #21 with the agents providing bodyguard duty for a rising superstar in the musical world. By Katie Reus, Weston works with the company but not exactly for the company. However, member of the agency is there to be the security that Rebel needs. Two hwo have been handpicked by Weston. Boy, does she need it now. There is jealousy, stalking and murder on minds of some dangerously unstable characters. Still it is difficult to know where the murderous danger is actually coming from in this story until the villain strikes.
Rebel and Weston have been friends since childhood. It is so wonderful in this story that they both had Weston’s Aunt Margaret to guide and support them in this life. Both have pursued their goals in adulthood, getting in touch, and loving each other from a far. Now their time has come. An amazing story of a true protective male, a talented intelligent female and a love that was not to be denied. Suspense, danger, and hot romance all in one story as only Katie Reus can write.
An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
They've been BFFs since they were kids. Musical superstar Rebel doesn't have many people in her life that she really trusts, but when a funeral brings her home from her tour and sends her into the arms of her long-time best friend Weston, they both realize that they've harbored feelings for each other for years.
This was a fun romp from platonic best friends to banging in the shower. I felt like the transition from friends to lovers was unrealistically abrupt, but the stress from the security situation is a plausible reason for that. I really loved being inside Rebel's head and hearing her thoughts, especially with the glimpses of the past we got. The ending with the security problem didn't surprise me, the plot was fairly predictable, but it was still a quick fun read!
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced digital reader's copy (ARC) in exchange for an honest review!
I loved this story - in particular how Katie shared both past and present with us. These 2 had been in love since they were teenagers and you knew once they got together it would be explosive. Rebel is so humble even as a big star and Weston has had her back from day one. The story is fast-paced and all the characters are fun to read. This is a great series and I can't wait for the next installment! 5+ starts from me!
