I do not care for stories that contain rockstars, models, or actors but because this is a story by Katie and part of the Red Stone Security series I had to read it. I found Rebel to be sweet and an endearing character. Katie wrote her with so much warmth and caring. What can I say about Weston but he is a dream. Since this is romantic suspense, I would have liked more of that in the story (I did figure out the villain) but the sweet friendship romance was perfectly written.

i have read quite a few books by this author but none from this series and i have to admit to thoroughly enjoying it....

rebel and weston are childhood friends, but he goes into the forces and she becomes a superstar, but over the years they have both written to each other as penpals

rebel is a successful singer but she has her fair share of crazies that want more and more from her, but lately she has been getting some very disturbing emails and letters but when things start to escalate weston becomes involved with his friends

but should they be looking closer to home.....

a good quick read that kept me guessing who it was right till the end....

I was fortunate enough to get a copy of the previous books in this series, and I really enjoyed all of them. As soon as I saw the next book in the series was available for request on NetGalley I put my request in. As soon as this book hit my kindle I wanted to read it right away.

This is the story of Rebel, popstar, and Weston, ex-military billionaire, childhood friends who have been secretly in love with each other but never told the other. When Rebel starts to get threats while finishing up her tour in Miami, Weston will do anything to keep her safe including hiring Red Stone Security to help.

Similar to the other books in this series there was a lot in this book that I really liked and I am just a sucker for a good romantic suspense.

What I loved:
-Series, this is part of the larger Red Stone Security Series and I’m so excited to dive into all of the other books
- Shared backstory, I love a friends to lovers romance and with Rebel and Weston growing up together and him always being her protector is just warmed my heart
- Jupiter/Lucky, Rebel visits a dog shelter and falls in love with a senior dog Jupiter but its a packaged deal with the Jupiter's buddy Lucky. Who doesn't love pets in a book especially when its two bonded senior dogs
- Family, as both Rebel and Weston don't have a lot of actual family I love the found family they build together
- Rebel Rockstar, while reading this I got a lot of Taylor Swift vibes which I thought was fun and I just loved how she wanted to make as many people as she safely could feel included

Overall this book had everything I look for in a romantic suspense, great romance, spice, and believable relationship building between the main characters. Once I started this book it was really hard to put down and I am already eyeing how quickly I can get to the other books in the series cause I can’t wait to learn about the rest of the Red Stone team. If you love romantic suspense then PLEASE go pick this one up as soon as you can cause its a great stand alone story with a whole series behind it so you can live in this world for a while!

Katie Reus returns readers to Miami and the Red Stone Security series. For a standalone story featuring longtime friends Weston and singing sensation Rebel. Who are reunited in person when Weston's Aunt Margaret the woman who helped raise them passes away. And Weston sees this as his chance to finally make his move.

But before he can do that he learns Rebel has a possible stalker and her latest concert has been sabotaged and so Weston sets out determined to do whatever is necessary to protect her including hiring Red Stone Security and even breaking a few laws. 

However, as the pair get closer; so does the danger. As Weston trusts the wrong person to keep Rebel safe when her final concert ends in chaos.

And with a little heat, sweetness and sadness. This was an enjoyable and engaging addition to the series, and I would happily recommend it to others.

A great series, the stories are becoming more and more about tenuously linked characters but with some of the core ones still popping in which is rather satisfying!

I loved how strongly they felt but he absolutely fell first and harder. He had her on such a pedestal but still tried so hard to give her a sense of normalcy. The background was great and really gave depth to their relationship and made it much less instalove than it might have appeared.

Danger and suspense of course are key to this storyline but actually I felt this was much more a story of romance and love

A great read

This was a great story about two people who grew up being best friends. As they got older their feelings started to change but life got in the way. Weston is ready to finally fight for the one person he has always loved but will Rebel feel the same way? When someone starts to send troubling message to Rebel, things start to unfold with Weston and Rebel. Will they finally start to have what they always dreamed of wanting or will someone destroy their chance? I was given an ARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

An easy read to relax and enjoy.
Somewhat predictable storyline but fun characters. Superstar singer targeted with death threats, childhood friend steps in as security. Romance blossom as they both have kept hidden feelings from the other

Wow! The beauty of the friendship that developed into love between Weston & Rebel just made me sigh. Weston gave all the alpha vibes while protector mode came on. Rebel was portrayed so beautifully. I enjoyed the slow build up, suspense, yearning & hot sizzling chemistry in one go! A true review of my ARC.

Good book! This book had a bit of everything! It had light suspense, intrigue, mystery, a great romance, childhood love, great plot twist, and some crazy twists and turns! The storyline was very interesting and kept me glued to my Kindle! I definitely recommend reading this book as it was well worth reading! I had forgotten how much I love this series. Each story not only pulls you in but each is unique in their own way.

Non stop action, Loved Weston taking charge of Rebel. Filled with love on both sides, but too afraid to voice their thoughts. Intriguing mystery and what lengths they will go to to get to their target. Loved the banter and the flow of the story. I really enjoy the Red Stone Security series and highly recommend these books, they will take you away!

A Page-Turning Read!

They had been friends since children, both of them had a strong bond and kept in touch even when their careers took different paths but unknown to either of them they both were madly passionately in love with each other.

Now it was their time to be honest with each other and embrace the forever love they both deserved.

A beautiful, romantic, steamy, captivating read with suppressed emotions just waiting to burst free and some added action to keep you on your toes.

A sigh worthy romance with wonderful characters and a storyline you won’t want to put down.

Protecting Rebel, book 21 of the Red Stone Security Series was a terrific addition to the series. Weston Davis and Rebel Martinez have known and secretly loved each other since they were teens. Rebel, a successful rockstar and Weston a veteran and now a very wealthy entrepreneur still feel that romantic pull, but are they willing to take a chance on love? When danger strikes, Weston will do whatever is necessary to protect Rebel. As the action, suspense and a surprise plot twist heat up so does their slow burn romance, but once ignited there’s no going back for these two. Secondary characters new and old add good depth to this well written story by Katie.

Rebel and Weston were fabulous together! So glad they were able to make it work. I still don’t think I know what Weston does, but it didn’t matter, really.

A story of a couple who starts out bonding as young kids, who then later had to separate to live their dreams, but always staying in touch. Never really growing apart. Their dedication to staying in each others lives even if not physically showed what a deep bond they had for each other. The book begins at the time in their lives when they were able to finally be in the same location and could finally let their feelings out.

I enjoyed this couple and their story, but Weston is the reason for my love of this book. He's the alpha type I love to read about. He's the protective, take charge, but didn't run over type. He made the decision it was finally time to steer their relationship where he's wanted it for years and he wouldn't let anything get in the way. Rebel is one lucky girl!

This was my first ARC read ever and what an ARC it was. I really enjoyed this book and found the story kept my attention throughout. I was constantly eager to find out what was next and it was a really nice easy read, perfect for anyone wanting a book to sit down and read after a long day.

Pros: Really good writing and narrative, very easy to follow and had a variety of diverse characters. The obstacles the characters faced had me hooked and what I really enjoyed was that even though I thought I knew what was going to happen next I didn't have a clue.

Cons: I don't really have any cons, there is nothing that was bad about this book but at the same time there was just something missing. It didn't have anything that blew my mind and had me sat questioning everything once I had finished. This reason is the only reason I didn't give this book 5 stars.

I am not much for rockstar romance but this one is great! I love Rebel. Her attitude and heart. Weston has the big bad protector vibe which smokes. Their childhood friendship morphs into much more. The volatile nature of her career going sideways when someone attacks. Did not "see" the culprit and I love that. Fast paced, intense and steamy read. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Protecting Rebel is a very captivating story with sexy, swoony characters and fantastic writing! Definitely a book worth reading.

Sweet, fantastic read! The chemistry between Weston and Rebel was evident from childhood. They were amazing together and supportive of what each other needed. This book can be read as a standalone, but when read in order, a greater appreciation for the series is achieved. Reus does an excellent job weaving old and introducing new characters into the Red Stone Security series. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series!
