This story brings the world of math to life through the eyes of Devin & Rose, two young adventurers on a quest to conquer math anxiety and uncover the hidden wonders of numbers. From the very first page, I was hooked by the enchanting storytelling and the ingenious ways the book blends math tricks with imagination. This isn't just another math book; it's a ticket to an enchanted realm where numbers are friends, not foes, and where every concept becomes an exciting adventure.
This was fitting for my son’s first day of school! An elementary aged boy is struggling with math and his dad jumps in to use “magic” to help him learn and enjoy math. Very fun story and very relatable for any parent with elementary age kids!!! I really hope this book inspires math confidence for kids. I thought the writing was great for a book trying to help kids get excited about math!
Would recommend for any families with elementary school kids, especially if they’re struggling with math!
This is a story about Devin, a young boy who is bright, but who - along with his classmates - is struggling to understand maths.
When Devin arrives home, feeling dispirited, he explains to his parents that while he really enjoys other aspects of being at school, maths is beginning to get him down. Because no matter how much he tries, he can't seem to get a handle on things.
Devin's father then comes up with the inspired idea of the Math Magician, and uses some magic tricks to help Devin practice doing maths. The boy gets so caught up in the enjoyment of the magic trick, he forgets to be intimidated by the task. And that is how to do magic with mathematics!
It's a cute story, with a useful exercise for children to do, and the illustrations are also nice. The ending felt slightly abrupt, but overall a good effort.
