I have put my full review here as I couldn't only have a few chapters 🤣

A lot of what I know I'm going to end up saying is going to sound negative & it shouldn't be, but this is a tough one to review. It wasn't a bad read at all, a 4 star, but it wasn't the 5 stars I anticipated. I'm loving the Blood & Ash series & was hoping for a similar experience...the problem with this is that it is too similar in many regards almost directly parallelling some elements, but it is lacking the development of the supporting characters that Blood & Ash has (I wanted more Bas) & the depth of feeling for the main characters. I wanted a bit more from it.

It's an entertaining story with great spice & some wonderful, snarky interactions, but not a lot actually happens considering it's over 400 pages long. It got off to a good start & the action scenes are brilliant & fly along, but a lot of the in-between bits could have been cut down.

All that said, I've got loads of questions & I'll definitely be reading the next one, I need to know what happens next.

I will read anything that JLA writes and this was no exception! It was fun to enter a new world away from From blood and ash!

Thank you Netgalley and Pan Macmillan for the e-Arc in exchange for my honest opinion and veiws.

From the prologue I was captivated by the Kingdom of Caelum. Jennifer's atmospheric writing set the tone of the story and I was pulsing with tension.
Fall of Ruin and Wrath doesn't start of warmly, its dark and gloomy and has you on your seat waiting to see what will happen next and will these creatures strike when you turn the page.
The reader is introduced to Calista and Claude and her position as a courtesan, we see the dynamics and politics she has to navigate in this world of Gods and monsters.
These opening chapters opened up the settings of the world this story is set in and grabs you and doesn't let go I wanted more from reading the prologue and chapters and I will definitely be buying this book.
Highly recommended if you like fantasy and with political warring parties.
Jennifer L Armentrout has done it again.

What a start! I can not wait to read the rest of this one. This sampler has only got me more excited, after hearing so many great things about the book. My order is on its way!

Well. She has done it again, a very enjoyable read, and building up to be another enjoyable series…. However it felt a lot to me that the spice was very Orr in my opinion. It was very much scene spice, more scene insert spice. I do love spice don’t get me wrong but it just felt like instead of it helping the story along it was more let’s add spice where we can.

Aside from that I love her worlds and her Charla Tera are amazing, will definitely read the rest
.

This was a really fun and easy read!! JLA once again manages to create a vivid world full of lore and mysteries.

The romance is pretty spicy- the two MCs are pulled to one another, so plenty of room for banter and character growth.

I binge read this book pretty quickly; JLA’s writing is just so expertly well done. You can tell she’s written like 70 books!!

A great teaser for the new series coming out. There was just enough to get me hooked and made me want to read on and now I cannot wait to get my hands on the book itself!
With great world building, characters that you can build a relationship with (and ones that you can hate), this is sure to be another great series from Jennifer L. Armentrout.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bramble publishing for this free teaser.

A decent little sample of JLA's new series. I adore the From Blood and Ash series personally so I was excited to find out about this book. I enjoyed the parts that I got to read and can't wait to read the full book.

Thank you to Jennifer L. Armentrout, NetGalley, and the publishers for a sampler of Fall of Ruin and Wrath. I'm disappointed I had to stop reading, I'll be picking up a copy of this book soon!

Jennifer Armentrout does it again with this fast-paced romantasy. Set in a decimated world ruled by the godly Hyborn, those who look over the mortal Lowborn with callous impunity, this story follows Calista, a courtesan to a high-ranking Baron, as she becomes embroiled in a game of deadly politics and intrigue.

I literally couldn't put this book down, it is immensely readable and so fun. Like all of Jennifer's fantasy books, the romance is the best kind of tension-filled slow-burn and the plot is quick and twisty. Apart from the gore that riddles the latter half of this fantasy, the story itself is pretty light to read (at least when it comes to super dense politics - Jennifer nails her immersive political plotline), with just enough stakes to move the plot forward without sacrificing the romance. Because of this, it's the perfect read for anyone looking to get into the romantasy genre or to fill their Jennifer Armentrout fix, like I was!

This was a tiny little teaser from the new fantasy world from JLA. This teaser was just enough to set the world the MC and leave it in a place where you're desperate to find out what happens next. Thankfully, I have the physical copy too so I can get straight back into the action.

There is a LOT of worldbuilding at the start. For those who've read the phenomenally successful From Blood and Ash series by JLA, we know how intricate the worldbuilding can be, and it's the same in this new series. I really liked the concepts of Hyh and Low borns and the myths built around them. JLA has a knack of creating new and unique worlds. My head was whirling a bit trying to keep it all together, as with FBAA, it'll all come together and make sense.

I'm liking the MC so far. There's a huge cast of other characters, both good, bad and downright creepy and I can't wait to continue with the book! Thank goodness I had the foresight to pre-order my copy.

4 stars so far, simply due to mindboggling worldbuilding. I may have to change that once I finished!

I'm so sad this was just an excerpt because I AM HOOKED with the small section I read! Straight off, the world-building is fantastic and the characters are so interesting that I can't wait to pick up a physical copy as soon as this one drops!

Thanks so much Netgalley and Panmacmillan/Tor for this excerpt to review.

It was so disappointing to reach the end of this sampler. I just wanted to keep going!

So far there's been great characterisation and some interesting world building. I'm enjoying the writing style and really want to know what happens next - it's a great opening.

This was only a sample but it immediately draws you in to the story and you can still get a great feel for the story and the world/character. Lis’ powers seem really cool and I look forward to reading more about where the story goes with them and I enjoyed seeing a peek into the different groups!

Thank you NetGalley and Pan Macmillan for the opportunity to read this sampler, all opinions are my own an I can’t wait to read the rest of the book!

Wow, even this first few chapters felt like a wild & magical ride! I can’t wait to explore more of this artfully crafted world of the Low- and Hyhborn - I’ve a feeling it’s going to quite the adventure. An absolute must preorder!
