Thank you NetGalley and Publisher Blaze Goldburst for my copy of The Weight of a Broken Heart by Natacha Jean. I have not received any rewards or compensation for this review and therefore all views and opinions are of my own, the reviewer.
In summary: One night of passion leads to an instant family.
This is my first book by Natacha Jean.
An interesting take on second chance romance.
A one night stand with Alexander leaves Julia pregnant with triplets. Julia is a strong woman determined to make it on her own without Alexander’s help. In fact, Alexander has rejected her after Julia tells him she is pregnant and he is most definitely the father.
I liked how the story progressed throughout the book. I liked that Julia was strong and independent, despite been given triplets she still pushes ahead. i felt that there are women out there that can relate to the main character Julia. I enjoyed the ending with the happily ever after also.
This book fell flat to mecI could not connect with the characters and the story didn't make sense I struggled to finish this one.
I appreciate the publisher/NetGalley allowing me a copy of this book. I thought it was good I just really struggled getting into this I would give this a 3/5 stars.
I think that this story had potential but it felt very rushed. The flow of the story was very disjointed, it could halve been broken up better, The writing and editing were very elementary.
The Weight of a Broken Heart is about a young college girl who gets pregnant with triplets after a one night stand. The father of her babies, Alex, denies his paternity. So, upon graduating from college, this young mother moves to Australia and hires a live-in nanny to help her. She meets Alex’s grandmother in the Bahamas while she’s there for her best friend’s wedding. Unbeknownst to her, his grandmother arranged for Julia to fly to the states with her triplets to confront Alex about being the father.
This novel had the makings of being one of my Top 10’s. But it lacked depth in all areas, including dialogue. Conversations were stilted. Character development was minimal. Problems were resolved superficially. So much more could’ve been added to this novel yo make it more relatable and believable.
While I hoped for a fun, casual read, there were too many aspects of this plot that defied reality to buy-in to the storyline. For example, when a college student becomes pregnant with triplets and is not independently wealthy, it's not feasible that that person has no struggles, can afford a nanny, can move to Australia on a whim.
In this emotionally charged romance novel the author weaves a captivating tale of love, betrayal, and second chances. The story follows the intertwined lives of Julia Anderson and Alexander Wright, two strong-willed individuals whose paths collide unexpectedly. Julia's determination to forge her own path clashes with Alexander's resolve to keep love at bay due to his past scars. When an unplanned pregnancy shatters their fragile connection, the narrative takes a riveting turn.
The author skillfully develops the characters, painting their struggles and vulnerabilities with remarkable depth. The book delves into the complexities of trust and forgiveness, all set against a backdrop of simmering passion. The prose is both poignant and witty, capturing the reader's heart as they follow the protagonists' journey towards reconciliation.
I couldn't put this book down once I started. From the very first page, I was hooked and couldn't wait to see what happened next. The chemistry between Julia and Alexander is off the charts, and their banter had me laughing out loud.
You know those stories that make you feel like you're right there with the characters? This is one of them. I felt Julia's frustration and determination, and I totally understood why she wanted to stand on her own two feet. And Alexander? Let's just say, he's the swoon-worthy hero we all secretly dream about. The way their relationship evolves from stubbornness to something deeper is beautifully portrayed.
This book isn't just about love; it's about growth, forgiveness, and finding happiness when you least expect it.
