Second Chances in Tuppenny Bridge by Sharon Booth had well-developed characters and a plot that was engaging. This book was a great read. I highly recommend!
**Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the e-ARC. All opinions expressed are voluntary and my own.**
This one ended up being sweeter than I thought it would be. I love how the second aspect was two people tossed into second parent mode getting a chance with each. So while it wasn't second romance it was second chance everything else.
"Second Chances in Tuppenny Bridge" aptly portrays a couple getting another shot at love and starting anew after facing life's challenges. Kat and Jonah, childhood friends reunited, navigate their complicated lives as single parents with warmth and humor. The story, told from their perspectives, delves into their struggles, heartaches, and the budding romance between them. Despite their hardships, they find solace and support in each other, leading to a transformative journey. With bursts of humor and a cozy atmosphere, the novel draws readers in, making it easy to empathize with the characters and their emotional journeys. As Kat and Jonah's stories unfold gradually, the author skillfully addresses heavier topics and offers viable solutions, creating a well-composed and compelling read. Overall, "Second Chances in Tuppenny Bridge" is a heartwarming tale of love, resilience, and new beginnings that readers won't want to put down.
This was the second book in the Tuppeny Bridge series and it’s every bit as lovely as the first.
Telling the story of Kat and Jonah and how childhood friendship can change your life.
Jonah and Kat are both single parents and when they meet by chance one day they soon realise that through friendship they can help each other.
I loved the descriptions of Tuppeny Bridge and the local community’s strength and support for each other.
Meeting friends old and new it’s a beautiful series, I can’t wait to see what Sharon writes in the next one.
Thank you NetGalley and Storm Publishers for an ARC of this lovely book.
A feel good heartwarming read. Second book in the Tuppenny Bridge series and a very enjoyable read. The great description of the setting makes you feel like you are part of the story
The cover drew me in but the story made me stay. I so enjoyed this lovely, heart-warming book. This is apparently the second book in this series but I have not seen or read the first one (which I will now have to find!) but this did not hamper my enjoyment of this read.
This is a book that made me feel good, made me smile and this is what is so delightful about it. It is a charming read with an even more charming setting. The characters are very likeable which makes it easier to read. Kat Pennyfeather (love the name) and Jonah Brewster are long time friends and single parents. With each having bad past experiences will they be able to get past their own issues to become more than just friends?
I won't give anything away but I will say that this book has humour, fun, romance and more. A great read, entertaining and fun, like holding a cup of warm cocoa.
Thank you NetGalley and Storm Publishing for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
I fell in love with the cover and enjoyed this well plotted and heartwarming story. Lovely setting and characters.
I was glad to catch up with the characters and travel again to Tupenny Bridge
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine
Second Chances in Tuppenny Bridge by Sharon Booth is the second book in the Tuppenny Bridge series, and it's a heart warming feel good read. If you want a beautiful book that will make you smile Sharon's books are the book for you. She has a way if writing her books and beautifully brings to life with the way she describes everything. When you start to read her books I always feel like I'm there, breathing in the smells etc.
Her books are not my usual read but the cover caught my eye, I am so glad it did. This latest book will not disappoint, it's a great read especially as it can be read as a standalone.
Big Thank you to Netgalley and Storm Publishing for my ARC.
A sweet read, relaxing and easy. A feel good story which I enjoyed very much. A new author which is great and I'm definitely going to read more in the future. My thanks to netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.
This was my first visit to Tuppeny Bridge but I have since purchased the first novel so I will catch up with this delightful series. It was not difficult to fall into the second book without indulging in the first but I could see it would have been an asset. At times it was like eavesdropping on another’s conversation learning about past events but the author faithfully fills us in to help with any lack of knowledge of the previous where needed. I must say I did not know what to expect when I started but I immediately plunged headlong into the action and wonderful cast of characters quite quickly.
Second Chances in Tuppenny Bridge is well named as this definitely is about a couple who truly get another opportunity in life to start over and experience real love, and to utilise their talents for new business ventures. You might say they have been soul-mates since they were little but did not realise it until they experienced some dramatic life challenges and came together after years of being apart.
This novel has delicious bursts of humour, particularly from the Lavender Ladies and a cosy hearth-like warmth about it (hard to explain) that is like curling up with a comforting blanket by a fire or watching your favourite classic movie. The feeling of pleasant familiarity made it easy to care about the characters and their life issues—and there are many emotions to process and relationships to sort out. My curiosity (and frustration, sometimes!) was constantly sparked during Kat’s and Jonah’s journey together and apart. Watching their back and forth dance was often moving, messy and mesmerising. The story is told from their two perspectives which was a great approach as we get to see first-hand what is inside their heads and hearts as they deal with their dilemmas.
Kat Pennyfeather has had her share of troubles, heartbreak and loss. She is a single mother of adorable baby Hattie. Supported by her two aunts, she lives above (and works in) Pennyweather’s Wool Shop. But her aunts must sell the building and pay off their debts which leaves her without a home and a job. But as grim as this is, there is something new and positive on the horizon for this woman and her child.
Jonah Brewster, a farrier (horseshoer), is another single parent who finds it tough managing his job while parenting alone. His story, though, different in some ways from Kat’s, has been a sad one, too. He has had some horrific heartaches, betrayal and loss. But there are positive threads in his life, too. He has a wonderful home where he lives with his adopted son. Trust is a big problem for him (due to his ex-wife’s behaviour) and once you hear his story it is understandable. But he bumps into Kat, his childhood friend, and before long their lives become reconnected. He has a solution that will solve both their problems: he needs help with his son and home and she needs a residence and income. Once the decision is made, and they move forward with the plan, things begin to change. They start seeing each other in a different light. Will they become more than ‘just Kat’ or ‘just Jonah’ to each other?
Second Chances in Tuppenny Bridge is a well-composed novel that flows beautifully. There is quite a bit of emotional baggage to sort through in Kat’s and Jonah’s lives and the author unfolds each of their stories separate and together gradually. This gives the reader enough time to digest it all. I really enjoyed this novel and found it to be a pleasant surprise. It has a fair bit of depth and deals with some heavier topics and offers viable solutions. I will definitely read the first one of the series and the next one(s) to follow. I could not put this down until I finished reading it-- so without hesitation highly recommend it. 5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thanks to Storm Publishing and Netgalley for my review copy.
Another great book by this Author
The characters were great and plot not bad, I would recommend this as a holiday read and don't hesitate to download or buy this
A romantic story set in a small Yorkshire dales village where almost everyone knows your business. In some ways quite realistic, in others perhaps not, it is a light and entertaining read and I enjoyed it . Fairly formularic in the plot and in places a bit too much of one or the other deciding what others think, but it was sweet on the whole and I liked most of the characters.
Thanks to Net Galley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review
Kat and Jonah are friends from school and both single parents, life throws them a few curve balls, but the connection is there for all to see and bet on! This is my first Sharon Booth I have read and was a really good read.
I received a free copy of, Second Chances in Tuppenny Bridge, from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
This is an enchanting, delightful story that I absolutely loved. I knew I’d love it just by looking at the cover and the title - they completely drew me in! It’s a lovely story full of love, romance, heartbreak, loss, trust, secrets and happiness - all the elements of a perfect romantic read for me. It’s about Kat Pennyfeather (love the name) and Jonah Brewster, two single parents who grew up together and were close friends before life got in the way. They’ve both been badly hurt, both had their share of tragedy, and both have massive trust issues. Can Tuppenny Bridge help them to find a way through, and heal them? There are some wonderful characters in this book, not least The Lavender Ladies, who cracked me up! It’s a lovely story, one that I really enjoyed. It’s really well-written, with very engaging characters, and I want to go back to Tuppenny Bridge soon please!
this 2nd book in the series can be read as a stand alone but I recommend you read the first one before hand.
What a treat by sharon Bridge.!
Tuppenny bridge sounds a lovely place to live
Welcome back to Tuppenny Bridge in this heartwarming second entry in this series. Single parenthood is not easy for either Kat or Jonah and starting a new relationship doesn’t seem possible. A lovely setting, and great characters make for an enjoyable read.
Fantastic novel, really enjoyed reading this. Only one thing, when looking for this book on the shelves look hard for Sharon's name as only the Booth stands out. Apart from that can I please give this 10 stars and not 5. Great story, can't wait for the next one.
Thanks to Netgally and publisher for this ARC
Sharon Booth - Second Chances In Tuppenny Bridge.
This is book two in Sharon Booth’s gorgeous Tuppenny Bridge series.
Book three to follow on 14/12/23.
Second Chances In Tuppenny Bridge can easily be read as a standalone story, but you’ll be seriously missing out on something quite special if you don’t read the whole series in order.
#SecondChancesInTuppennyBridge is a delight. I was thrilled to go back to the idyllic setting of Tuppenny Bridge, that Sharon Booth so beautifully brings to life with her superbly descriptive writing.
She conveys the vivid beauty and feel of autumn so well, that you can almost feel the crunch of colourful leaves under foot.
Kat and Jonah are both single parents, struggling with life as they bring up their offspring alone.
They have known each other since school, but drifted after a devastating accident tore them apart.
A chance meeting brings them back into each other’s orbit. When they realise that they are both in a similar situation, it occurs to Jonah that they could maybe help each other.
I thoroughly enjoyed Kat and Jonah’s story. They are both instantly likeable and relatable.
Their journey isn’t without it’s bumps along the way, and a happily ever after is not guaranteed for anyone. But, my goodness the sparks that flew between these two almost set the pages alight.
There is some absolute belly bouncing humour in this book.
The Lavender Ladies are a scream. As much as they have the biggest and kindest hearts, they are also the source of much mischief in Tuppenny Bridge, but it never comes from a bad place.
#SecondChancesInTuppennyBridge is an autumn must read. It’s full of love, humour, a cosy community, fizzy feeling romance, hidden secrets and some rather naughty old ladies.
Book one in the Tuppenny Bridge series reeled me in. Book two, stole my heart completely. I can’t wait for book three!
Well done Sharon Booth, you don’t realise just how brilliant a writer you are.

With thanks to Netgalley and Storm Publishing for a digital arc of this title.
Thank you NetGalley and Storm Publishing for a gifted copy of this book.
This endearing story is the second instalment in a series, but it can also be read as a standalone. However, I personally felt that I lacked enough background information on the characters and events from the previous book to fully connect with the story. It's possible that my experience would have been different if I had read the first book.
Despite this, I found Kat and Jonah's portrayals of single parenthood to be relatable, and the author did a great job in depicting this aspect. It's wonderful to see modern themes being incorporated into literature, which I believe will be appealing to many potential readers.
For me, the plot was a bit slow, but that's just my personal opinion. Nevertheless, the author's approach to conveying the message of second chances and life lessons was enjoyable and well-written. Fans of this author or series will undoubtedly find this book more entertaining than I did.
Overall, I didn't dislike the book, but it also didn't leave a lasting impression on me, hence my three-star rating. Please don’t be put off picking this up, it could well become your favourite!
This is a delightful, warm and cosy read. Sharon always writes such heart warming books and never fails to disappoint.
