A beautiful, modern story of single parenthood, second chances and staying true to yourself. A glorious setting and characters who are extremely relatable. This is the second book of the set and although I missed the first, it isn't needed to enjoy the storylines of this one. I enjoyed the story and it was a perfect light read for the day.
Thanks to Netgalley and the author and publisher for a temporary copy in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you for the chance to read this ARC in return for my honest opinion
I had not read any of the previous books in this series but it was possible to read and enjoy this as a standalone book.
I normally really enjoy historical fiction but do like to read contemporary fiction as a change. This was well written and a light hearted romance really though of course with some serious undertones which are normal for this type of novel.
For me it was an easy read - but lacked substance somehow - making the characters had to like or gel with .
But I did persevere to the end but wont spoil it for other readers
Thank you again
Sweet story as two single parents join forces👨👩👧👦
4.5🌟 stars
This was my first visit to the Yorkshire Dales village of Tuppenny Bridge and I got swept up in the characters, main and secondary, good and malicious, young and old. Author Sharon Booth provided a delightful, though sometimes sad, story centering on the romance between thirty-something single mother Kat with a beautiful baby daughter and Jonah, a friend-turned-more farrier with an adorable, adopted six year-old son (and the meanest mother I've encountered in a story since I can recall!). Country village life is celebrated in the friendships and community get togethers and I can't seem to get enough of this small town society that Booth has created.
All in, this novel had a healthy helping of sweetness, especially in the scenes with the children, and an intriguing secret that, I must say, took an awfully long time to come out. Friends to lovers is not my favorite trope but here it's done well, with the close friendship dating back to their school days and a long period after when they had limited interaction. But domestic needs bring them back closer as two parents helping each other out, then as housemates who discover a mutual attraction and the joy of living the life of a happy blended family of four. The wobbles in their romance are realistic and the way they respond made for a really satisfying end.
I definitely see me coming back for more romance and adventure in Tuppenny Bridge.
Thanks to Storm Publishing and NetGalley for sharing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.
I received a free copy of, Second Chances in Tuppenny Bridge, by Sharon Booth, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This book 2 of 3 in The Tuppenny Bridge series. Kat and Jonah are both single parents and sparks fly when they meet, but everything is not smooth sailing for the pair. This book gave me a lot of feels. An enjoyable read. I really enjoyed The Lavender Ladies, I wish i was one of them.
This book was really good. a bit slow to start with but that just made you fall in love with the characters more as it was like living their life's with them.
I'm so happy kat gets the man and shop.
I love this series and already want to read the next one.
a second chance romance, love the beautiful setting and the characters. read in two afternoons. sweet story.
What an adorable, cozy read! Perfect for a fall day spent curled up with a blanket and a cup of tea. I loved that the protagonists were two single parents. I also loved that one was a farrier and the other worked in their family’s wool shop. It almost sounds like a movie! It took a bit to understand all the characters and their complexities; but I did really enjoy reading this book.
This is a new author for me as have only read summer in tuppenny bridge by this author before this one and will definitely be going through this authors back catalogue
It was great to be back in tuppenny bridge in the heart of the Yorkshire days and reading this made me long to love there as sounds like such an idyllic
Community in a beautiful setting.
This was a cosy read about second chances with relatable characters and a heartwarming community feel. I would love another book in this series to see how the characters lives continue to progress. .
Kat Pennyweather is on maternity leave with her baby daughter Hattie, she works in her great aunt's wool shop and lives in the little flat above, she so needs a bigger place and is ready to go back to work and save up for a deposit for a bigger place, meeting up with her best friend Sally Kingston she bumps into the local farrier Jonah Brewster who is stuck for someone to look after his adopted son Tommy, after he is sent home from school ill, so Kat steps in. Then a massive bombshell from her great aunt's means she is going to be jobless and also will have to move in with them that she doesn't want so a better arrangement comes along with Jonah meaning she is on hand for Tommy, will this work out well and will their relationship blossom into much more?
I loved this book such a easy feel good book to curl up with, as this couple get a few fall backs in their life, along the way. so heart warming, to freshen up your day.
This was a very sweet and comforting read! As a new mom myself, I found myself really relating to a lot of moments with Kat and Hattie. I don't see many books out there focused on new moms in my typical reading genres, so that was a really nice and unique story to get into. I enjoyed all of these characters a lot, and I loved the twists of the story!! I'll definitely be checking out more from this author.
I did enjoy this book and it would have been 4 stars had it not been for 2 things. Firstly the first half seemed really long, it just seemed to drag and I'm not sure why because things were happening in the story. Secondly this is part of a series and whilst it's an independent story, having not read any others, I felt I was missing out on information.
Second Chance in Tuppenny Bridge by Sharon Booth is a wonderful story about second chances. When you've both been scarred deeply by someone you loved, how do you learn to love and trust again? Can Kat and Jacob carve a future together?
A copy was provided for my review, but all opinions are my own.
A sweet romance from Sharon Booth- recommended for fans of Jenny Colgan and Pamela Kelley. Three and a half stars!
*I received an advanced reader copy of this book from NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Enjoyable little love story :-) perfect summer holiday reading!
The characters had lots going on but centrally were all really lucky!
Set in the Yorkshire Dales
I absolutely loved this story. Kat and Jonah were amazing characters . There were lots of secrets that came out. I loved the great Aunts and Miss Lavender . Hattie and Tommy sounded such cute children. It was my first Sharon Booth. I have a lot more to read . Can’t wait for the next one in this series .The getting ready for school on a Monday morning made me laugh. There were some sad moments but I could not put it down. Read it.
Fantastic book and great to catch up with favourites old and new in Tuppenny Bridge. Loving this series and can’t wait for the next instalment.
I want to move into Tuppenny Bridge!
Well written and a great feel good series
A gem of a book,
This was the first book I have read by Sharon Booth , but it won’t be my last .
A really enjoyable read, I loved the various characters in the Tuppenny Bridge community , quirky but fun even the strange ones . Kat and Jonah’s story was interesting to the reader with a few twists I wasn’t expecting and a real feel good feeling. I would certainly recommend this book
Thanks to Netgalley, Storm Publishing , and Sharon Booth for letting me read this book in exchange for an honest review
Kat and Jonah had been friends years ago, and now they are moving towards a new chapter. Both have young children and both have issues of trust to overcome. Liked this one and would highly recommend. Glad his mother is not around much.
Yay for sheep, especially Jacobs! Can you tell I'm a knitter?!
Admittedly, it took me over 25% before I could feel the flow of the book becoming more easily. Not the sort of review I normally do, but I'm being quite ambivalent about this Second Chances in Tuppenny Bridge...
Pros: funny and with real-life aspects such as having toxic family members.
Cons: details not adding up or confusing (maternity leave with a seven-month old baby – that long?!) and the need of serious editing (two people having coffee, a few pages later someone is drinking tea, repetition of words and phrases).
Also, it was rather flat regarding diversity when it comes to skin color, sexual orientation, religion, history, cultural background, and chronics. It doesn't have to be a theme, someone in a wheelchair, or with overweight, or being gay, or being non-binary could have been casually mentioned. Perhaps Daisy being a woman of color? Unfortunately, I could add that to a lot of reviews on books I've read recently...
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of the book.
I love a series, it's like returning to old friends and this series is exactly that. This time our focus is on Kat who lives in the village with her daughter Hettie and her childhood friend Jonah. The story follows how they reconnect and how the village moves on from a tragedy.
An enjoyable afternoon's reading was had with this book and I'll definitely look out for book 3.
