Last year I had the pleasure of reading the same author's Charlie Echo for the first time (it's a book one can read several times). Second novels are often disappointing but this one certainly isn't.
Once again, Andrew Bullas has written an original plot in a highly innovative style. And, once again he's managed to sprinkle some literary allusions to bring a smile to every bibliophile's face - Arnold Bennett, Malory and Tennyson.
I love the way the river itself, Old Father Thames, plays such a significant role. And I was totally fascinated when the author introduced Sir Joseph Bazalgette and his Victorian sewage system. This novel deserves the sweet scent of success.
