A single dad romance with a cute kid and dog and some intense opening chapters.
Thank you for the review copy
This was an interesting premise for a romance book in that the leading man is married, however his wife is in a coma, this opens up all sorts of moral thoughts and complications.
Overall I found the book quite sweet, I enjoyed the relationship between father and son and then how Jen was incorporated into this
After Jenny finds out her boyfriend is married. She is humiliated and decides a big change is needed in her life. When she is offered a temporary job in Willahua she leaps at the chance for a fresh start.
Marion Lennox pulls the readers right into the story with a tense rescue mission for paramedic Jenny when a car goes over a cliff. The rescue is all the trickier because an injured dog is involved.
Rob is the local doctor and a single dad to a cute kid named Jacob. Well liked by the community Rob is in a hard place. His wife is in a coma and brain dead. But his controlling inlaws wont let her go.
They also want custody of Jacob. When Jenny and Rob meet the attraction is immediate, after an intense rescue and trying to save their paitent. Jen agrees to take care of stumpy the injured dog, until a family member is found. Jenny's landlady throws a fit when she comes back with the dog and Rob offers both of them a place to stay at his house. As Jenny and Rob spend more time together the sparks fly. Can these two work through the issues in their way and find a happily ever after?
Pick up a copy and find out. Recommended for fans of contemporay romance.
I received an arc from NetGalley and Mills and Boon in exchange for an honest review.
I found this very difficult book to rate because, although it was very well written, I did not like the story line one little bit.
I did not find it, romantic, nor emotionally, satisfying because of the first wife scenario, and the even more unpleasant plot line of her parents response to the grieving husband and son.
This is a very personal viewpoint, and may well not be shared by other readers.
SPOILER ALERT!!!
Hero is married, but first wife is in coma. Divided loyalties found guilty conscience interfere with any possibility of romance.
This was a tough Roman to read, with some very sensitive handling, and what came across as honest handling of trauma, long term comas and grief. There is a lot of medical intervention but I didn’t feel bombarded with medical terms, it was just part of the story and development. The role of the dogs cannot be underplayed either, they were all fabulous and who doesn’t love a baby alpaca called Pamela?
I loved Jenny and Rob, and enjoyed their story very much.
Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review.
A beautiful story of love, loss, and finding the courage to step into the unknown, this was a wonderfully heartwarming story. Everyone knows everyone so there is a great sense of community, especially in a time of need.It is clear that Jenny and Rob are incredibly good at what they do, and the chemistry between them is undeniable.
This is a a beautiful story that I didn't know I needed to read. As it begins our heroine Jenny, paramedic extraordinaire, abseils down a cliff to rescue a man and his dog. Rob is the small hospital doctor and our hero. These two have instant chemistry and a fair few ups and downs to contend with. Nobody is more deserving of a HEA than these two and I'm so very glad that they achieve it.
