Chasing the Light is a heartfelt and engaging second instalment in *The Photographers Trilogy*. Julia Boggio masterfully blends romance, personal growth, and the complexities of relationships in this well-paced story. Krish’s journey is compelling, as he grapples with unrequited desires and the reality that the "perfect life" may not be as flawless as it seems. The reappearance of his ex-girlfriend Francesca adds depth and tension, making for an emotional and gripping read.
Boggio’s writing shines in her exploration of the characters’ inner conflicts, especially Krish’s evolving perspective on love and success. The dynamic between Stella and Connor introduces a layer of realism, showcasing the cracks in what seems like a perfect marriage. Though part of a trilogy, *Chasing the Light* stands strong on its own, though you may appreciate it more having read the first book.
At times, some plot twists felt slightly predictable, but the story’s emotional weight and the well-drawn characters make this a thoroughly satisfying read. It’s a thoughtful and entertaining novel that makes you reflect on the complexities of love and life’s expectations.
3 stars!
Although this is the second book in a series (which I didn't know before starting), I could easily follow the plot, the characters and their dynamics. The book reads fast, especially the first 50%. Multiple important topics are covered (chronic illness, marital issues, etc.)
If you enjoy forced proximity, second chance and workplace romance, I think this is just up your alley! It includes Bollywood and Indian culture and it fits in the story very nicely.
It's not a 4 or a 5 star read since I couldn't get attached to the characters and it started getting repetitive. However, after reading, I learned a LOT about important subjects, Indian culture, photography and videography and their work process. It was a fun read and had some light spice. Also, you can tell the author did some amazing research.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for granting me free access to the advanced digital copy of this book.
This was a great book and I'll be purchasing it for the library.
This was a great book. I connected with the characters. I felt engrossed with the plot. I would read another book by this author.
Krish’s goal is to have what his boss has, in life and love. But things aren’t all they seem.
When Krish happens to meet his ex-girlfriend again, at an event he is shooting at, he soon reflects on his life and it might just be the chance that Krish and Francesca need to reconnect again.
I loved these two characters, Boggio writes a novel with characters who are opposites, showing us how opposites attract and giving us the perfect amount of chemistry in a second-chance romance.
This novel is the second in a trilogy and I highly recommend reading novel one first as Chasing the Light does reflect on novel one and it is great to hear about our original characters.
This is a feel-good novel and look forward to reading the next.
The main characters are genuinely enjoyable people to spend time with. I recommend this book if you want a simple, delightful and a comfort read
I should have guessed the tone of the books with the cover and the name, but for some reason, the explicit nature of some took me by surprise! That said, there was still content besides the romance itself, so I skipped the parts that I wanted to and kept to the important bits.
Krish was a constant and welcome presence in the previous book. It is not required to read the first to understand the dynamics here, although Stella does have her own part in the book as she tries to carve a work-life balance where she actually works and not just stays at home with her child that her new husband is hardly helping care for. That is a serious talking point for a book that focuses more on the romantic side on the first visit.
The second important focus was on invisible disabilities, something that should be at odds with the more central love story and the extreme physical responses our lead pair have to each other. But the situation works; we have a leading lady who is struggling with her issues and does not want to come off as a maiden in distress, but Krish swoops in any way. The Desi angle included here also did not feel strange; the author seems quite comfortable depicting Indian families that do not feel weird either.
I would recommend this more than the previous in terms of the content, but the angst is present from the very beginning since the pair in the narrative have a very deep history. I skimmed past a lot of information that I would rather not have regarding their relationship, but for those more accustomed to it, this book would be an even better fit than the previous one.
I received an ARC thanks to NetGalley and the publishers, but the review is entirely based on my own reading experience.
A second chance romance with women’s health issues at the forefront of the self discovery and self love not being tied in to a woman’s ability to reproduce as her sole worth in this story. I loved Krish and the rest of the characters. I had not read the first book in the series prior to this and while it would have helped fill in some of the gaps, I was able to still enjoy the story. I was a bit disappointed at the epilogue focusing more on building anticipation for the third book and not giving me more closure with the main characters. I’m assuming their story line will continue in the third book. I thought Stella’s early motherhood story felt really authentic and am looking forward to reading the next in this series.
It was a nice read about second chance romance, Julia's pen works perfectly in the story, good from beginning to end.
"Chasing the Light" by Julia Boggio is a captivating novel that blends elements of romance and self-discovery. With evocative storytelling and memorable characters, the story unfolds in a way that is both touching and insightful. Boggio takes readers on a journey of love and personal growth, interweaving the complexities of human relationships. This book is a beautifully crafted exploration of how we find our way back to the light, even in our darkest moments.
I loved this! And I was pleasantly surprised that it was a proper sequel to Shooters! I thought it would just follow Krish with little cameos from Stella and Connor, but we still had Stella’s POV and even major plots featuring them!
The romance storyline between Krish and Francesca is angsty, hot and also adorable. Krish is surely up there for book boyfriends. I was so rooting for them. I also loved the drama involved in their work, photographing and videoing weddings.
There’s also powerful representation of menstrual issues, which feeds into a heartbreaking element of the story. It’s so refreshing to see this explored in a romance novel.
My only gripe is the 6/10 epilogue! I adored Krish and Francesca’s story and I kind of wanted a proper epilogue for them! I’m intrigued by the fact that it ended on a bit of a cliffhanger though and excited to read another book in this series 😊
What to expect:
- second chance romance
- forced proximity
- wedding photographer and videographer
- Bollywood vibes
- Cinnamon roll MMC
- PCOS and endometriosis rep
- medium spice
I really enjoyed this entertaining book. It was a quick read and a fun read. The character, storyline and banter in this book make it so good! I look forward to reading more in this series of books.

Really really liked this book. It caught me off guard, in a good way. Loved the characters, the plot, and the tropes. I definitely would recommend.
Cute book!! Here are some of the tropes/facts:
❤️Straight romance
🥰Second chance
😬Miscommunication
😶Cheating
🎥📷Videographer/photographer
👰♀️Weddings
💊Chronic pain representation
👥️Multicultural representation
I really enjoyed reading this! However i am not really a fan of cheating ): i did really like the storyline and the characters were fun too. I also think the chronic pain representation is important and well executed.
I am definitely interested in the other books in this universe/series, and i recommend to all of you!
thank you to netgalley and the author for sending me the book in exchange for an honest review
This delightful second chance romance offers more than just warm fuzzies. It gracefully navigates through the complexities of chronic pain, fertility struggles, and the weight of well-guarded secrets. But what's remarkable is how Julia refrains from turning it into a gloomy tale; instead, she paints it with shades of optimism and an unyielding "never give up" spirit.
Krish and Francesca are a match made in rom-com heaven. Krish is calm, laid back and casting, while Francesca is stubborn and sassy. Both are very talented and their chemistry is undeniable.
Just like Shooters, Chasing the Light places the spotlight on the dazzling world of weddings and wedding photography. However, this time, it's all about the vibrant hues of big Bollywood weddings, infusing the story with a burst of colors and emotions.
This is a first time read for me by this author and it surely won't be my last. This was an entertaining, second chance romance that I really enjoyed reading. I wish I had read the first book, though, where the main characters had first been introduced, but I was still able to enjoy this nonetheless. Krish is trying to make it big in the photography world and is well on his way. He is also on the verge of planning on proposing to his fiance, when his ex shows up at one of the weddings he's photographing. Krish was deeply in love with Francesca and five years ago she broke his heart when she abruptly ended things. Now that she is back in his life, those old feelings are resurfacing and feel as fresh as ever. Francesca still loves Krish, too, and she was hiding a big secret when she left. If she's ready to reveal what that secret is now, is it possible Krish will forgive her and give her another chance?
A beautifully written heartwarming story that I could not put down. The storyline was well-written and kept my interest the whole time. The characters were relatable with realistic qualities and I was immediately endeared to them. A lovely story that left me with a warm feeling and a smile on my face. Looking forward to reading more of this author's work!
I received a complimentary copy from Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.
Julia Boggio is one of my new favorite authors. The new book Chasing the Light is wonderful and you will fall in love with all the characters. Happy reading.

This was my first read from this author and I really enjoyed it. I had not read the first book in the series and it wasn’t too hard to follow along but I more of the details to Stella and Connor’s relationship would have been great to know. I would definitely be checking it out.
When I saw this book advertised I just had to grab it right away.
I really liked how we still got Stella and Connors story even though they were not the main characters.
This book has made me love Indian weddings, the music the colour - I even watched my first Bollywood film last week. 😍
The portrayal of chronic pain, PCOS, endometriosis and fibroids is a touchy subject for me as I suffer badly with these.
It was really nice to see them mentioned in a story as they are not talked about enough - especially liked the links given at the end for support websites.
But I found myself getting angry at the main character - just as she did in the book with everyone else - because I would give anything to only have the symtoms she had. I myself bleed for 6 plus months at a time, don't get a day off from the pain, I have just been put onto cocodomol plus other pain relief to take indefinitely along with 15 other tablets a day (a total of 21 a day), I also have the Hirsutism, the access hair growth over all my body and can grow a beard - and this is mentioned even less than the other issues in public. And boy oh boy don't get me started on the mood swings and the crying - me and Francesca could win awards for them 😂
Sorry this review has turned into a bit of a rant... 😂
I really loved the first book, and had high hopes for this second one, but I'm afraid I didn't overly like Krish and Franchescas relationship making it hard to connect.
I did however love Krish's character and thought he was loveable. Although I did get on board with them towards the end 🙂
I'm really struggling with the rating for this one as i didn't love the it - probably due to my owm issues. I really liked the story and would recommend it so I'm toying between 3 and 4 stars... and before that sounds bad, some of my favourite books are 3 stars (I'm a harsh star rator)
