This would work as a great coffee table or bathroom book. Something to pick up, flip through read a couple sections at a time. I think this would've really benefited from more real photos instead of drawings, or at least a mix of the two. The sections were interesting but not visually captivating, so I found myself getting distracted.

The title of this book is accurate - Weird. Wonderful.
I can see this appealing to a wide range of people. It felt a bit like a bookish version of QI!

This book features explanations of some of the most intriguing facts from history.

Overall this book is fantastic and the images and colours used are aesthetically pleasing, the facts are interesting and informative. The only down side of the book is the half-narrative format.

An excellent and entertaining book that intersperses facts with mini-imagined scenarios to tell a story. I liked the way it was set out with boxes to keep each section varied and the bright colours made it very attractive to the eye.
It wasn't so easy to read on digital copy as you had to zoom in on every page but otherwise, it was a delightful read.

I've been following Milo kn YouTube for a couple of months now, imagine my excitement when I saw his book on netgalley.
The insights and illustrations in the book are fascinating for adults and children alike. Even if you have read full length books about these matters, the book acts like a ready reckoner to refresh your memory.
Pre-history is my favourite era in human history, and the way the author humanises the narrative is amazing. We tend to see this fossils and artefacts as such objects but they cement the fact that even centuries back, human emotions and motivations endure.

Overall, I think this book is fantastically laid out and the images and colors used are aesthetically pleasing. The facts therein are indeed interesting and often overlooked in other fact books that often rely more on hard data. However, I find it hard to focus on certain passages because of the half-narrative format. It makes digging through to find the facts a little tough sometimes. That being said, the stories are well written and the mood of the book is humorous and light.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing access to an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

If you're familiar with and enjoy Milo's videos, you'll probably also really like this.

I liked that he didn't focus on just one area of the world and instead discussed something from nearly every region.

I didn't hate them, but I personally could have done without the stories that were made up about the context for some of the finds.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy.

I found this book divided me, on one hand it is interesting but I’m not really sure what the target audience is supposed to be , the range of tales within cover many subjects, countries and nationalities but if it is aimed at children / teenagers then the wording I thought was quite difficult to comprehend and the graphics weren’t very vibrant to catch the attention of the reader.

Do you enjoy having fun facts to talk about? If so this book is a perfect way to find some fun/neat topics for interesting conversations. The contents are grouped into topics ranging from animals to ancient civilizations. I think that this is a great coffee table book!

I was able to read this as an ARC on NetGalley, and am super glad I got to read it.

I found this book disappointing. I'm not sure what I expected but what I got wasn't it. I found it uninteresting and boring. The title is misleading.

These pages aren’t very exciting to look at, but the information they contain is very fascinating and engaging. From household items to nature and beyond, these explanations are written in an easy to understand language and sometimes engaging storylines. While it is not a book intended for the youngest among us, you can easily take some of the information and share it with those who are four and six and have them be excited about learning also.

I stumbled across Milo Rossi only very recently and pretty much binged his entire YouTube channel in short order. When he announced he had a book being published, I figured I’d order it once it was released and that was that. Imagine my surprise that it is available on NetGalley. All in all, in you’re a fan of his social media content, you will most likely enjoy this book. It captures his voice and cadence. If you’re not aware of who he is and have no reference to his delivery, it might be not as palatable to you.

There were a couple of grammatical errors and while the overall flow of the book took a minute for me to vibe with, Milo’s love of history and skills as an educator come through loud and clear.

Net/net, if you’re a fan of Milo’s social media presence and have consumed all of his YouTube/TikTok content, this is just the written extension of both those mediums. And with this first publication, it’s obvious that Milo will have a successful career as an author, too.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the Publisher for making a free copy available for review.

First of all, Thank You netgalley for the ARC granted to me. My first touch with the author's writing, and right from the start, I was gotten caught by the book title, but as I was reading, the ramdom content was being appreciated by me, because it's exactly the kind of subject that I like to know without needing to haha Altough My expectation was hoping to see even more ramdom and unusual info, I was entertained by this book when reading, Well done!

I'm a big fan of trivia, so a book called The Encyclopedia of the Weird and Wonderful caught my attention. It lives up to its name as you can find all sorts of information about odd topics. The colorful illustrations and graphics will hold the attention of all ages while the facts will give them something to think about. The book covers all of history up until current time, and will keep readers busy for hours. Anyone that wants to have some out of the way information on things will like this book.

I received a free ARC of the book from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

A wonderful book for readers of any age. We had a party and everyone had to draw a page number and share the story. It was a wonderful way to keep the conversations flowing and we all had a very good time. I certainly hope Milo Rossi had as much fun writing this book as we did reading it!

It is arranged as a group of topics- Food, animals etc and gives bits of witty information about each. Some is from ancient civilizations, some more current, but all of it is interesting. It is the kind of book that you can dip in and out of, and file away iinformation for a later date. It was funny and well written!
