This is one of those books I could either take it or leave it. It isn't bad but it isn't my kind of book. A bit slow, a bit confusing, it didn't flow as well as I had hoped and dragged on a bit.
I trued to read all of it but I do admit I did skip through parts that just weren't doing it for me. I think with a bit of work this could be a good book.
Thank you NetGalley and Joffe Books for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
Sadly, this book did not land the way I had hoped. The story had a lot of merit, however I found the pacing and (lack of) character development quite distracting. Once I realized this story stretched over a number of months, I felt like it was dragging. The jumps in time almost made the third person narrator feel like it was updating me on what happened instead of, myself, feeling engaged with the story.
I finished the book, but it is unlikely I would read again.
The story of Daisy and Jackson who meet over some graffiti. Both have a partner, but once they are no longer in the picture will they be together? A fun read.
1.5 stars
Daisy is Redford’s Beauty Therapist and resident grammar police. She is desperate to override a grammar mistake at the butchers and borrows the paint cans of the local street artist to do it. He turns out to be a very attractive doctor who Daisy instantly falls for her. Their journey to romance is made complex by a fight for ownership of Daisy’s salon and Jackson’s busy work schedule.
I feel awful rating this book so low but it just didn’t work for me. The writing style wasn’t to my taste and the pacing just felt completely off for what I’m looking for. We are dropped into the middle of Daisy and Jackson meeting which is insta love on another level and I just could not get on board with the two of them being together. They are also both in relationships which whilst it’s clear they’re not working meant for the first half of the book I don’t see why we are supposed to be so on board with them both hoping to cheat.
There is so much drama in this book between relationship break ups, attempted destruction of Daisy’s salon and sibling rivalry. I was interested in finding out what happened but we jumped around so much it almost felt like the book wasn’t sure what it was trying to be in each moment. Thoughts would be left unfinished to move onto the next idea and I honestly couldn’t keep up at times. I also don’t believe 11 year old Robbie could have achieved quite as much as he did but maybe I’m being cynical!
The main reason for my low rating is the sexist language used throughout (at least as I perceived it). There was a lot of comments about men being better than women (and I don’t think they were ironic) and putting Daisy down for ‘just being a beauty therapist’ which is pretty upsetting when you realise the author was a beauty therapist. There are also comments made by Daisy about Faith’s appearance (such as she had a lot less make up so looked less like a goth - she looked great!) that felt really anti feminist. I mostly checked out points where Daisy was referred to as being attractive even without make up, or being deemed as attractive only when dressing up.
I’m sure there is an audience for this book, and I’m very sorry it wasn’t me!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinions.
This was such an easy read. Daisy rents a salon and has the landlord from hell. Jackson is a busy doctor who enjoys graffiti as a past-time. Their lives collide a a series of unfortunate incidents occur. Full of warmth, love and joy.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book. This Romantic Comedy book was adorable and humorous! I had a good time reading this book I adored how their friendship had turned in to love, because you can see the chemistry.
This wasn't really a romance for me, but I did like the story of the neighborhood and community, and I loved many of the characters.
This is a delightful, fun read and I loved every minute of it. Great characters, strong plot and laugh out loud moments all the way through. I couldn’t put it down. Loved it.
This book was stolen by an 11 yo character.
I love rom coms so as that goes it was cute and fun and everything one could want in a Rom-com novel. A few "only in a Hallmark movie would that be a thing" moments, one too many challenge twists, but it's a rom-com, reality is suspended here.
Adding in the real situations that come from med school, business ownership, and tagging, plus the hopefully less real situations of super crappy landlords (seriously that dude creeped me out from page 1 and he's a black and white character in a book) and it was such an enjoyable read I could put it down but I really didn't want to.

This is my second Anni Rose book - I read the first in the series as well. They are quick, fun, not too complicated or angsty stories. She has the same name as me, which is very uncommonly spelled, so I was drawn to read her, and I’m a new fan! I still plan to read the other titles. This is my second Anni Rose book - I read the first in the series as well. They are quick, fun, not too complicated or angsty stories. This book is a standalone within the series (I believe they all are), so skipping around the titles is no problem. I enjoyed the banter between Daisy, a recently single beauty salon owner who had been with her boyfriend on and off over a decade, and Jackson, an ER resident doctor new to town and a guy who moonlights as a spray paint graffiti artist. They meet while he’s working on a new mural (technically after and she borrows his paint to correct something on a window that is bugging her), and again when he’s treating her nephew in the ER, and hit it off with a great friendship.
I enjoy the pacing, chemistry, all of the character dynamics and the story development that Rose has in her books. This one in particular was going along very nicely and then she threw in some excellent twists to make it really interesting and to keep the reader invested. I read it very quickly because I enjoyed it so much. I definitely recommend everyone gives it a read!
I received an advance copy from NetGalley and Joffe Books, Choc Lit, and this is my honest feedback.

Rom com is my favorite genre and the easiest way for me to escape when I am having a bad day. That said, I’m always looking for new authors and stories, so I thought I would give this one a go!
Daisy and Jackson meet over a can of spray paint right as both of their lives go through some major changes. Both newly single and trying to find their ways, they are drawn to each other while Daisy fights her ex for her business and livelihood. Will fighting be the thing that brings these two together?
I don’t know if it was me, but I had a harder time getting into this book. Maybe I wasn’t in the right headspace, but I couldn’t follow the jumps on perspective and plot well. The characters were likable, but it took a long time in the story to have them really interact. I think there were many cute moments and maybe it would be better for someone more patient than I am, but this was not my favorite.

I enjoyed reading this book and it was very easy to get through, I think I ended up reading it in two sittings. I loved Daisy as a main character but felt Jackson was a bit harder to connect to as there wasn’t too much about him. It also took me quite a while to actually get into the book at the beginning and I felt there was more focus on Daisy losing her business and home rather than the romance between her and Jackson. Overall, I still really enjoyed reading this.
The idea of this book was genius! But unfortunately for me the storyline was a little all over the place, which left me confused and unable to finish the book.

I had a very hard time getting into this book. In the end, it was just okay.
Unfortunately, this book was a major miss for me. I don’t know if it was the cover not matching the content, but I went into this expecting something much lighter than the content inside. The characters were good, but there was far too much showing and not nearly enough telling. The dialogue would begin without much context, which really took me out of the story and made my interests in the characters minimal.

Thank you to Joffe Books for this ARC.
This was a cute book. The characters were likeable and the story was cute.
I just thought that this was slow-paced. I don't only mean between the main characters, but also the story in itself. I feel like practically nothing happened when it came to the issues that Daisy, the female main character. I would have been good, if the story had picked up at some point. I feel like the same things kept happening without having an actual solution.
If half of the story wasn't about Jackson, the male main character, and Daisy being away from each other it would have been so much better. There were a lot of missed opportunities when it comes to their relationship. They should have communicated better with each other.
Jackson was so amazing throughout the story. Something that felt kind of weird to me was when he suddenly belittled Daisy's job. It came out of nowhere and I just felt that went past. I felt so weird when reading that part, because I wasn't expecting that. Other than that, I really liked him.
I thought Daisy was amazing, though I would have liked for her to give Mark a little bit more of what was on her mind. I felt like he got away with so much, she really annoyed me when it come to her relationship with him. But, I still liked her. I love the way she is dedicated to her job as well as how nice she was with her friends and Robbie. I think her overthinking a lot about things like her salon and Jackson was realistic, I saw myself in her when it came to that.
Also, there were a lot of time skips which I didn't really understand. It wouldn't make it clear that it was the next day or a couple of hours. For example: Someone is talking about how Daisy went to the karaoke to Jackson, so he decides to go there as well, but then the next chapter is suddenly about him entering Daisy's salon. Again, there was a missed opportunity here to get more of their relationship and how it evolved.
My feelings towards Daisy's and Faiths, her sister, relationship at the beginning. It's not that I hated Faith, I just didn't quite like her. I mostly didn't like her because she wasn't really present for Robbie, her child and Daisy's nephew. She didn't treat Daisy that badly, you could just see that their relationship was a little awkward. I liked how their relationship evolved. But again, if they had communicated they would have resolved their issues years ago. I would have liked a little more insight and emphasis on their relationship. I felt like it was rushed.
If the characters had communicated with each other, all those sad and awkward moments would have never happened.
I also have a lot of questions when it came to certain characters like: What happened with Steve? What about Mark? questions like these.
Other than that, this book's main trope would be the miscommunication trope.
A light hearted romcom to fill the gaps in your rewarding schedule before it’s time to break out those Christmas novels!
This was a bit too sad for me. Sisters aren't always close, but they can be open and honest. Parents should treat a kid like the kid matters. And boyfriends... We stay with boyfriends who don't have redeeming qualities and wonder why they don't treat us with respect and consideration. So. I did like some aspects of this book. I love kids with personality. I love people who love their community. I love people who treat people the way they want to be treated. So this is not a bad book. This is a book about life. We deal with things that aren't pleasant. We deal with people who take advantage of our good nature. Hopefully, we find someone who won't abuse the faith and trust we place in them and we get to live a pleasant life.
So, yes I recommend this book. Why? Because I rooted for Daisy. I kept waiting for her to have her moment. I loved her nephew. I think they were so adorable together. The doctor was okay with me too. He was a solid character who rounded out the plot nicely. I hope every Daisy finds her Jackson, or whatever makes her life complete.

This was a fantastic read that I really enjoyed! The character development was great and I didn’t want to put it down. Highly recommend.
This is a very cute romcom. I will admit some of the writing was choppy and did make me confused over what was happening but I think the character made up for it. I really loved all the characters but especially the side characters as they have most funny scenes.
Overall its a cute funny book that I will probably only read this once and then never pick up again.
