4.75/5 stars! I love this book so much. It has hunger-game and savage land themes but adds in a cultural lens that was much needed in those. I devoured this in one sitting and cannot wait to read the rest of the series. I agree with some of the complaints that some side characters lacked development, but I'm hoping this is corrected across the span of the series.

I want to thank NetGalley for approving me for an ARC of this book. Special thanks to my fellow buddy readers @bex_boys_and_books and @archerofpages.

Having read other books by Nisha J Tuli, I was excited to see what this series was like. Here we are introduced to Lor, a feisty and determined FMC who has grown up in less than ideal circumstances.

Throughout the book we are introduced to many characters, some we love and others we're less trusting of, but it was Nadir's chapters that captured my attention. This also caused me to ask more questions about Lor and her history.

The trials and tests she faces are brutal but highly entertaining and now I need to jump into the second book to see what happens next.

Thank you Netgalley for the ARC
This was a fun and quick read that reminds me of the selection x Hunger Games. It is a captivating fantasy that blends high-stakes trials, courtly intrigue, and a slow-burn romance.

It follows our FMC— Lor, a prisoner forced into a deadly competition to win the favor of a ruthless king. I really liked her character and her development throughout the book.

Overall, it has great world building and gripping pacing that makes you keep reading. I can’t wait to see where the series goes next!

This had a good story and started off strong and interesting. Although it didn’t grip me with the trials plotline and I felt it was predictable and underdeveloped. Maybe there is more to come in the later books, but I don’t think this is for me and wasn’t what I thought it would be.

A strong female protagonist who is forced to survive incredibly harsh conditions, and an intriguing game of cat and mouse made Trial of the Sun Queen a compelling and exciting read. Lor is a really interesting character. Forced to survive and keep her family safe, she isn't afraid to fight for anything and everything she loves. I also liked her romance arc with Nadir, although I found that he wasn't as well fleshed put as Lor.

I also found the plot to be pretty tired in that it seems to use a lot of the standard fantasy tropes. Not necessarily a bad thing but it did make the plot very predictable.

A fun time overall. Good characters but a predictable fantasy plot.

AMAZING! STUNNING! 10/10

i absolutely loved this book from the get go. The stakes were high from the first moment and it didn't let up.

yes this has been done before, girl plucked from some sort of poverty thrust into a bachelor style game but Nisha managed to keep it fresh and unique. I never saw any twists coming, i was in the dark the entire time and then BAM! the flabber i ghasted at the ending.

a stunning read that i thoroughly enjoyed!

I absolutely loved this book, it kept me guessing and theorising throughout! I didn't know who to trust or what to believe, and I loved learning what was happening along with Lor.
I can't wait to continue the series and find out more about this world!
I would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys an epic fantasy romance, steeped in magic and mystery, full of secrets, actions and spicy romance with plenty of tension!

This was SO GOOD! I've been waiting for the series to come out before I started, and safe to say I'm very happy I did. This book was everything I love in a book. Starts off in a prison setting, then moves to a palace with a Selection bachelor style competition with some adrenaline trials thrown in. I NEED MORE and you can guarantee I'm reading the sequel right away! This writing style was amazing and that first sentence? Hilarious and incredible, sucked me right in from the get-go. Tuli might be a favourite author

I was hesitant to read this book because it was advertised as a mix between The Bachelor and Throne of Glass. While I love Throne of Glass, I absolutely do not like The Batchelor. Overlooking the Batchelor aspect, I liked the book. It started out interesting, in a prison. The trials were the best part, finally some action scenes.

While the FMC, Lor, is interesting, I could not care less about the Sun King. The other characters in the Sun court are a bit shallow. Luckily, we also get to meet royalty from another court. I'm curious to see where his story is going.

Thank you NetGalley and Nisha J. Tuli for the copy that I received. This is my honest review.

I enjoyed this book. It was a fun romantic fantasy and the main character, Lor, is so compelling, witty and strong which I always enjoy reading!

The story was well written and compelling and kept me hooked throughout, although some of the plot was a little predictable, that didn't make it any less enjoyable.

Of course, the fae in this book were my favourite thing, I am a sucker for a good fae romance, and add in some fun trials and I am there.

I did not manage to read this unfortunately, due to unforeseeable issues at home but I have preordered this book as I’m interested in reading it once I get the opportunity.

Lor is an amazing main character, she’s intelligent, resilient, and a totally bad ass human in a world full of fae.

Atlas, the sun king, is the male main character Lor is trying to win the affections of. I wasn't sure about him at first, but then he says stuff like, “You’re mine. You’re going to be mine."

I really love romantasy books that have great world building, and this book did not disappoint.

This book definitely reminds me of A Court of Thorns and Roses.

I really enjoyed this book!

It was like an addicting Fae the Bachelor. Lor was an intriguing heroine, but some of her decisions were unreasonable and she wasn't as smart as she appeared to be. I wish we got some more clues throughout the book that lead to the ending other than just having the plot twists at the end appear out of nowhere.

Overall, it was a fun, binge-worthy read! Definitely recoomend for a bit of fun!

Ich weiß ehrlich gesagt nicht, wie ich dieses Buch bewerten soll, da ich es aufgrund relativ kurzer Ausleihdauer (ohne Verlängerung) nicht lesen konnte.

Did not finish. Couldnt get into this book or the characters unfortunately. Tried a few times to get into this, and I just couldn’t.

Compared to Throne of Glass, this is a rollicking fantasy read with engaging characters and a fast-paced plot. It might not be the best written book in the world but it is thoroughly enjoyable.

This was a good read but was sadly nothing original, it annoyed me that nothing really got going until literally the last chapter and then it ended and everything was just very vague? Nothing was explained properly and you’re just meant to assume certain things . Still okay though, people that like squid game may enjoy lol
