I didn’t realise that this was part of a series, but it didn’t detract from story. I just need to search the previous one out!
A really cosy and comfortable read, loved the main characters and their complicated and entwined stories. Looking forward to the rest of the series.
This is a good book. The two main characters are Amelia and Ben. Ben’s father passes away, at the funeral Ben meets his sister, Hope, who he didn’t know existed. Amelia, who is Hope’s best friend meets Ben, when goes to the family’s estate to see his family, especially his mother, who he was told died. There is chemistry when Amelia and Ben meet. They start dating. The fall in love.
Book two in the Juniper Meadows series. To enjoy this book fully I would recommend you read book one first. Ben and Amelia’s story this time and another family drama.
This book is well written, has an interesting storyline and engages the reader.
I would recommend
In From the Cold is the second book in the Juniper Meadows series. It continues from when Where We Belong ended, so I recommend you read it before this one. Ben's father has died and he is adrift, not even knowing that his father was sick. At the funeral, a small group of people he doesn't know approach him. The young woman looks familiar, but when she tells him that she is his sister and his mother is still alive, he is shocked and doesn't believe him. She shows him proof and leaves. Eventually he agrees to visit Juniper Meadows to find out what happened and his life changes. Life is good at Juniper Meadows. He meets Amelia Riley, who we met in the first book, and they are attracted to one another. Can Ben reconcile with his mother? Will he be able to follow his own path, the one his father didn't want him to follow?
In From the Cold is a delightful story about family, friendship, following your dreams, new beginnings and or course romance. All the characters from the first book are here and it was nice to see them again and discover what they were up to. The story is narrated by both Amelia and Ben. We see their pasts, through their eyes and learn how they became the people they were and why they tamped down their dreams and desires. The Travers family are loving and welcomed Ben with open arms. This is a story of family secrets and relationships, friendship, supporting others, finding your place and love. I enjoyed the setting very much and look forward to what happens next at Juniper Meadows.
A heartfelt book with solid characters and a promising storyline.. at times it could have been a little harsher and not as fluffy but overall it was a good book.
I hadn't realised that the characters in the book would refer to a previous book so I should have really read that tbh.
Probably would have enjoyed more if I had!
3.5 stars
This book was a little too cookie cutter for me. Everything was glossed over. There needed to be some real feelings but there wasn't.
My first Juniper Meadows book, late to the game, but bought the first and third one on pre order!
I want to live there with the Travers family, they seem so friendly, community oriented and down to earth.
The story is about Amelia Riley and Ben Lawson, both have fathers who kept secrets which affected their lives.
The day of Bens father’s funeral a woman he has never met, claims to be his sister, which he doesn’t believe but upon investigating realises it is true, so he decides to visit Juniper Meadows, where his ‘other’ family live!
Where the first person he meets is Amelia, sparks are flying, but both have issues to deal with before they can
give in to temptation.
It wasn’t a Christmassy book, it was a wintry, snuggle in a chair with a hot chocolate kind of book which left you with a little smile.
I hadn’t read the first in the series. After reading this I was quite glad. There was a lot that really annoyed me. Names I just feel there’s no need for it. Put me off. I don’t know anyone who would use such names. You also get lost with silly names. I found myself having to reread parts again. Definitely not for me
Book two in the enthralling Juniper Meadows series, “In From the Cold,” is a perfect way to jump back into this world.
With references to the original couple of book one, those who love to read in order, should keep that in mind.
However, this is a brand new story with new characters to boot, including a long lost brother.
This was a fun-read about family and secrets and what can happen when you open up.
Thanks to NetGalley, Sarah Bennett, and Boldwood Books for this copy. I enjoyed it.
The story revolves around two main characters, Amelia and Ben, whose perspectives alternate throughout the narrative. Amelia grapples with her father's criminal actions and her pride prevents her from accepting help, despite genuine kindness from those around her. Ben, a grieving son, discovers he has a newfound family and navigates meeting them for the first time at Juniper Meadows. The warm welcome he receives and his transformation under the Travers family's care highlights the importance of family and close friendships. Despite the wintery cover, the story is set in autumn, culminating in a Halloween celebration, but the warmth of the characters compensates for any seasonal expectations. Overall, the novel explores themes of self-discovery and the significance of familial and friendship bonds, making it a compelling read.
Quite a heartfelt story about a grieving family trying to piece itself back together. It is a well written and moving story. I was expecting a traditional romance novel, but this was a little different. Thanks to Boldwood books and Netgalley for an ARC of this novel.
I thought In from the Cold was going to be a Hallmark movie type book but the secrets definitely moved this story over to another channel!
Fairly predictable rom com but it was still a good read that I enjoyed it. It was also a quick read.
I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the ebook.
I have read a few books from this series. I have enjoyed it a lot. If you are looking for alight hearted romantic read. You will like this book and series. The series itself is very low key and dramatic family/town type drama. So if you are looking at low key easy read type book you will love this book/series. All the characters are enjoyable.
An interesting read about a family that was torn apart and making their way back together. Ben is at his father's funeral when he is approached by a girl who claims to be his sister and that the mother he thought long dead was in fact, alive. Ben is now in a situation where he needs to find out where he belongs in his new family.
I liked this book so much. Very heartwarming to read. Their story was so cute, and I loved getting to know them. Perfect book to read during winter time.
an emotional story following a family shocked following the events of a funeral and secrets that rock their worlds. a great read for a winters day
This is a perfect, feel-good, cosy up with the fire and Christmas tree lit behind you kind of book. Perfect Christmas read, simple and easy! This is a first for me by the author and one I enjoyed and would read more of their work. The book cover is eye-catching and appealing and would spark my interest if in a bookshop. Thank you very much to the author, publisher and Netgalley for this ARC.
This complex family drama I'd just the book to read on a long cold day. It has romance and drama. I couldn't out it down! I was completely absorbed in this story and the characters lives.
Great read!
