If you read the first book in this lovely series, you’ll already have met Gemma – on hand with hot drinks and cake from her seafront cafe when Meredith was coming to terms with the realities of moving to her dilapidated lighthouse, and providing support when she needed it most. This book picks up her own story, at the point when she’s grasped the opportunity to extend the cafe that used to belong to her mum into the empty shop next door, with understandable concerns about whether she’s doing the right thing, all tangled up with memories of earlier happy times. Her sister Lucy (and they’re very close) runs Driftwood Bay’s bed and breakfast with her lovely husband – always fully booked in such a lovely location. Meredith and Clem are also on hand to help in their different ways – the friendships throughout this book are just wonderful, and you really won’t have any problems making the connections should this be your first visit.

The story is every bit as strong as the characters – some sensitive and well-handled issues bringing heartbreak, but always perfectly balanced by the warmth of the various relationships, whether family, friendship, or the loveliest developing romance. I really don’t want to tell the story, with its many twists and turns and a few real surprises – but I really have to mention one of the new characters that entirely won my heart, the lovely Occy (never, ever, call her Octavia!). At first she feels like trouble, a wonderfully drawn young teen at war with her lovely father and the world – but when Gemma takes a chance and allows her to work in the cafe (once she’s removed the false nails and wiped off the layers of make-up, and so long as she does some homework when they’re quiet…), the relationship that developed between them frequently made me smile but also sometimes brought a tear to my eye.

But every character in this book is wonderfully drawn – Gemma is the voice of the book, so relatable and sympathetic, thoroughly lovely in every way, facing every new challenge with a smile when she’s sometimes uncertain or hurting inside. There were more tears around her relationship with sister Lucy – the support they give each other entirely warms your heart, while the developing storyline does rather break it a little too. And I really must mention the lovely Jude, Occy’s long-suffering father – I’ve always had rather a weakness for a bearded man in uniform, and however standoffish he might seem at first and despite a few misunderstandings and complications along the way, it turns out that I might not the only person who feels that way.

The author’s emotional touch throughout this book is just absolutely perfect – just in case you should doubt it, there’s certainly plenty of fun and laughter amid life’s many ups and downs. And if you’re wondering about the chances of a happy ending – well, there’s a closing chapter that honestly couldn’t have been any more of everything I wanted and hoped for if I’d written it myself. This was such a special book, and quite beautifully written – I couldn’t recommend it more. And yes, I’m already looking forward to spending more time in Driftwood Bay, and meeting up again with these lovely people who now really feel like the closest of friends.

Kim Nash - Finding Family At The Cornish Cove.

This is the second visit to Driftwood Bay that we have been treated to from Kim Nash.

#FindingFamilyAtTheCornishCove is an easy book to fall into. The story quickly feels familiar and the characters like old friends.

The setting of Driftwood Bay is delightful. Kim Nash creates a wonderful community feel that is utterly charming and just the sort of place I love to escape to in a book.

Gemma and her expanding business are at the very heart of the community.
Gemma is a likeable person. She’s a friend to everyone.
I particularly enjoyed the relationship between Gemma and young employee Occy. It was very sweet and touching.

There is of course romance brewing in Driftwood Bay. A gorgeous, heart warming love story that will give you a lovely fuzzy feeling.

This book is not all light and fluffy. There are some more serious issues, which have been written with care and sensitivity.

#FindingFamilyAtTheCornishCove is an enjoyable read. It has some lovely humour, sweet romance, it’s a charming story and you will be left with a smile on your face and warmth in your heart.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

With thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources, Netgalley and Boldwood Books for a digital arc of this title.

It’s wonderful to be back in Driftwood Bay catching up with the wonderful characters we met in book 1 (Hopeful Hearts at the Cornish Cove). As you can tell from the title this book is set in beautiful Cornwall and as I read this book I could picture myself drinking coffee and eating delicious cake at Gemma’s cafe. This second book in the series focuses on Gemma who runs the local cafe, having taken it over after the death of her mother. After buying the property next door Gemma is going to expand the cafe and turn it into a bistro. Even though this change to her cafe is taking up a lot of her time she feels that’s there’s something missing from her life. Maybe she needs another person to share her life with ? After all her two best friends, Meredith and her own sister Lucy are both all loved up. Busy and all as she is can Gemma find love in Driftwood Bay ?

One of the first things that drew me to this book was the fabulous cover, I’m always drawn to a lovely cover and this one caught my eye immediately. Once I aw the cover I just had to read this book. What an absolute joy this book was to read. A story of friends and family and finding out that true friends are like your family. Kim Nash has such a fantastic way of putting words on paper that as I read this book I could actually visualise myself in Driftwood Bay walking along the beach getting the smell of the sea as I walked . Finding Family at the Cornish Cove is like a breath of fresh air and I truly adored reading it. As mentioned above this is the second book in the Cornish Cove series but it can easily be read as a stand alone book.

Although I didn’t read the first book in the series, I have enjoyed other books by this author so I went in blindly expecting to enjoy this one as well and was not disappointed. And though I probably could have benefited from reading the first book to get the backstory on a few of some of the characters, it wasn’t necessary for me and read this just fine as a stand-alone.
Gemma has lost her mother, who ran the local cafe, and now that Gemma is running it, she is expanding it and making it her own while still honoring all her mother did for all those many years. With the expansion comes need for new staff, and soon she meets Jude and his daughter Occy, who applies for a job at the cafe and Gemma wants to make sure it is ok with Jude before she hires her, and sparks fly, but both Gemma and Jude are swearing off relationships after being burnt in the past. Soon Gemma and Jude become friends and in their interactions of wanting the best for Occy, their relationship grows into more. But is either of them willing to let down their walls?
This was a feel good book about new beginnings, found family, friendships, community and love. It dealt with real life issues with grace and kindness but not in a way that felt cheesy. It was like a warm cup of tea on a chilly fall day and I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
Thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for this eArc in exchange for my review.

Revisiting the beautiful setting of Driftwood Bay in Kim Nash's latest novel, "Finding Family at the Cornish Cove" Kim’s second installment of the Cornish Cove series is a heartwarming tale that can be read as a standalone.

The story revolves around Gemma, a successful cafe owner in her late thirties who is recovering from a recent divorce. Her desire to expand her business leads her to purchase the building next door. Gemma has a close relationship with her sister Lucy, who owns a B&B, and Meredith, who moved to the cove in the first book.

Getting to know Gemma was fabulous and meeting teenager Occy was a breath of fresh air. Kim's descriptive narrative drew me in and I couldn't put it down.

If you enjoyed Kim Nash’s previous book, Hopeful Hearts at the Cornish Cove, where Meredith, approaching fifty, found her chance at love, then you are in for a treat with this latest book. Finding Family at the Cornish Cove was a really enjoyable read. In this book, Gemma may have lost her mother previously, but running her café with plans of expansion keeps her really tied into her community. Not only is Gemma wonderful, but her friends and neighbors are as well. Good friends are a fine thing, but love? Is that in the cards for Gemma, or will she continue on alone in life?

Gemma having this opportunity to expand her café proves not to be the only light in her life. In fact, Gem soon meets Jude Adams and his daughter Occy, and before long, the direction in her life begins to change. This wonderful story about friendship is also a sweet romance that is mixed with tender moments that makes this book to be a memorable read.

I loved this book, and I love the cover as well. What Ms. Nash does not know is that lighthouses are my favorite thing in any scene. The fact that a lighthouse is featured on this cover truly makes this book even more inviting.

Many thanks to Boldwood Books and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

This is a delightful, warm and cosy read. Kim always writes such heart warming books and never fails to disappoint. Another fabulous book which I hope is not the last in the series.

How I do love a book by this author! This book is book #2 in the Cornish Cove series and it looks absolutely delightful! We return to Driftwood Bay and again meet Gemma. I love Gemma's character and really took to her from first meeting her. She has suffered a relationship breakdown and her mother has recently died, and yet Gemma still manages to find a smile and a warm welcome in the teashop that she owns. There are big changes in her life, not just from the divorce and adjusting to life without her mum, but her sister announces she is pregnant and Gemma has big plans to renovate the teashop! Such a lot going on, but there's still more to come when handsome fire fighter Jude Adams arrives in town!

I fell in love with this book as soon as I started the first page! The characters are all lovely and likeable and I could connect with them all immediately. I loved Gemma's storyline and it was a delight to meet her again after meeting her in the first book of the series. The storyline flowed along well and I loved the "will they-won't they" storyline between Gemma and Jude. I also really liked Jude's daughter, Occy and found her character really developed as the storyline moved on. Jude and Occy's side story was unexpected but had me gripped as to what would happen with them.

This was a wonderful read, one which when I started it, I couldn't put it down! It had everything you'd want in a book with it's lovely light-hearted storyline filled with family, friends and romance! It's the perfect piece of escapism! Would recommend!

Thanks to the Publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.

I enjoyed being back in Driftwood Bay, in this the second book of in the series. I would suggest reading the first one, so that you know who the characters are that are mentioned in this book.

We meet Gemma, who is expanding her cafe, as well as Jude, who is a foreman and his daughter Occy.

The story gave us an insight into Gemma and her sister Lucy’s past. There was some parts where you was laughing and others that made you feel sad,

I highly recommend this book.

This is book 2 of the Cornish Cove series by Kim Nash. I read book 1 of this series but this 2nd book would work as a standalone.
I found this book extremely predictable and the leading lady, while a wonderful friend, was frustrating at times. Without giving anything away, she was a complete doormat at times and I wanted to shake her so badly.
There were a couple of very predictable “twists”, but nothing too surprising. I’d give it 3.5/5. A nice summer escape, with zero spice, but not a book I’ll feel the need to reread.

It was lovely to return to Driftwood Bay and catch up with Gemma, her sister, Lucy, and the rest of the residents. Don’t worry if you haven’t read the first book as this can certainly be read as a standalone story, and you can always go back to read the first book.
Gemma featured quite well in the first book, but we certainly saw more of her sister, Lucy. The two sisters accounted for the bed and breakfast business and the bakery and teashop. They had certainly cornered the lion’s share of the hospitality market.
I was drawn to Gemma’s character from the moment she appeared and felt that her story would be a powerful one. Despite her own experiences, she was always supportive of her friends and family. It seemed only natural that she would get her own story. What a corker of a story it is, too!
Once again, this story brings mentions of both her sister and of Mere (Meredith), whose story was covered in the first book. They are still a tight knit bunch, and their friendship has brought them all closer.
I find real joy in reading about strong women and I was delighted to meet new character, Occy – short for Octavia – another feisty female who is hurting and looking for a bit of understanding. Occy’s moodiness reminded me of my daughter as she was once at war with the very air that she breathed. Kim has a steady hand when developing her characters and covers every aspect of their personalities to the end that they often feel like friends.
Kim creates wonderful, relatable characters who are challenged with the same aspects of life that face most of us. The gentle way that she dealt with the spectre of fertility issues makes for a difficult but fulfilling read. Despite the complications brought about by former partners, the final conclusion brings hope and happiness to Driftwood Bay.
I’m already looking forward to returning to Driftwood Bay and meeting more new characters.

Kim Nash writes characters that I enjoy spending time with. They are likeable, charming, and warm. They are not without flaws, which makes them more relatable and endearing. I also adore the sense of community she creates and the relationships that are formed between the characters. The sense of Camaraderie, support, and understanding between them is a joy to read. Plus, the setting by the sea makes for a lovely read. I enjoyed sitting back with a cup of tea while going back to Cornish Cove.

Gemma runs a cafe that is a favorite in the Cornish Cove community. She is a lovely woman with a big heart. She is the type of character that you know you would want to be friends with if she were a real person. When she decides to expand her cafe, she asks her friend Clem for help- very noisy help. She also needs to hire more staff and one of them is a teenager girl named Occy. Occy's father just happens to be Jude Adams, a local fire and safety officer.

I enjoyed spending time with both old and new characters. Both Gemma and Jude have past pain (don't we all) in their lives which they are working on. I enjoyed their journey from meeting to becoming friends, to becoming more to each other.

I enjoy the book’s focus on new beginnings, healing, family, friendship, community, and love. For me this was a feel-good book that also dealt with real life issues with grace and care. I found this book to be well written, perfectly paced and like a warm hug.

Charming, delightful, well written, and a joy to read! I look forward to reading more of Kim Nash's books in the future.

You may be surprised to learn that today I’m taking a quick detour from the world of dark mysteries to give you an 🍁 autumnal-filled shout-out about Kim Nash’s latest piece of magic, “Finding Family at the Cornish Cove”.

Oh, the allure of Cornwall and the picturesque Driftwood Bay! The description of Driftwood Bay had me ready to pack up my bags, leave behind real life, and book myself a one-way ticket. There’s just something so magical and inviting about this place that draws you in.

From the get-go, the themes of second chances, taking leaps of faith, found family, miscommunication, and community shine through. If you’ve followed Kim’s earlier works, you know that she often weaves in anecdotes and the importance of mums, which give a heartwarming touch to her stories. This book is no different, with secrets and a profound journey of self-discovery artfully threaded throughout. Yep, classic Kim, creating a tapestry of emotions and situations that pull at your heartstrings. It’s like every page holds a treasure just waiting to be unearthed.

The narrative flows from the POV of Gemma, the charming café owner of Driftwood Bay. Although she’s ardently single (at least for now, 😉!), her life is teetering on the cusp of change. Picking up one of Kim’s books always feels like reuniting with old pals, and this one resonated in the same familiar, cosy way. Change is in the air for Gemma, and oh my days, it wasn’t what I expected…

Our protagonist Gemma, post a traumatic divorce, is on the path of reinvention. While she claims to have moved on from her cheating ex, Lucas, she’s curiously hung up on him. I may have yelled out in frustration a couple of times, urging her to really move on. But ah! Enter a new man – and oh boy, the dynamics shift. Yet, I found myself wondering if this new guy was any improvement. A delicious twist, I must say!

The community spirit of Driftwood Bay? Simply delectable. Everyone rallying together, taking care of each other – it’s the kind of place you’d want to call home. The town’s close-knit community radiates warmth and makes you yearn for such unity in real life. The breadcrumbs Kim drops about the sequels make me clap with delight. More to look forward to!

I loved bumping into characters from Kim’s previous novel. (If you’ve missed that one, check out my glowing review here!) Even though Finding Family at the Cornish Cove stands strong on its own, the previous book adds a luscious layer that’s hard to resist.

The introduction of Occy and Jude Adams added more layers of intrigue. While I instantly took to Occy, Jude was, for me, a puzzle. I mean, 🚩 the red flags 🚩 (in my opinion 😛) were fluttering all around him! Why Gemma overlooks them, I don’t know – maybe it’s the old adage, love is blind? Or maybe, just maybe, I’m a tad too critical? Time will reveal if Jude can win a place in her heart, and mine.

Kim’s distinct voice reverberates through every page. Reading her work is like settling down with a hot cuppa on a chilly afternoon – comforting and invigorating. The range of emotions she evokes – from laughter to tears, and yes, even an occasional scream – is a testament to her impeccable storytelling.

Would I recommend this book? Absofrigginlutely! It’s a heartfelt, emotion-packed journey that’s relatable and endearing, with just the right sprinkle of fun. Perfect for those cosy autumn evenings. So, don’t just stroll, sprint and grab yourself a copy of this Cornish delight!

Gemma has been running her late mother's cafe and when the opportunity to extend into the shop next door comes up she decides to expand and improve the cafe. In the course of this she meets a very grumpy fireman and his even grumpier daughter.
This is the second in this series, although the first one is still languishing in my TBR list, and is. unashamedly a feel-good story. It does cover the complexities of modern family life, but this is against the backdrop of my favourite part of the world, Cornwall, and a wonderful group of friends. An ideal story to make you feel better and, just perhaps, there is some goodness out there.
I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley, however this did not influence my review of the book and I have already preordered it.

Gemma has been running her Mom’s old cafe. She decides to redo it after buying the adjacent building. This book is about relationships, family you’re born into or family you make. It’s a good story with some ups and downs, just like life.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the early copy
