Such a lovely book, I love Driftwood Cove the setting for this story!
The characters, the place are all described so beautifully - I want to be there!
Gemma the local cafe owner, seems not to have a bad bone and just wants to be kind, friendly and helpful to all.
Eventually she finds love and gets her version of a happy ever after!
I loved this style of writing and have already bought Kim Nash’s back catalogue and I cannot wait to drive back into her world!
Gemma's been running her late mother's café but she decides to expand next door. s
She knows she can't have children and then her sister tells her she's pregnant so she's got to keep cheerful for her sake.
It was so lovely to be back here. The characters are so lovely.
I cried, I laughed, I swooned but most of all I enjoyed this story. It's emotionally charged throughout the story in more than one way and it really is a great story. I really want to own a cafe now I've read this. It's so heartwarming but deals with some big life events with such sensitivity.
I adore the relationships between quite a few of the characters (no spoilers from me though). I especially love the connection between Gemma and Occy and Gemma and her Sister Lucy.
This was spookily relatable, to me in so many ways.
I love the Epilogue, it's an absolutely perfect addition to the story and I feel like it was a lovely round up.
“Finding Family at the Cornish Cove” is a welcome return to Driftwood bay. We meet old friends and new and once again feel the warmth of intergenerational friendships radiate from the pages.
This story is Gemma’s. We find her still hurting from her failed marriage and grieving from the loss of her Mum. Gemma is the heart and soul of the community a friendly face, kind and understanding. Through her pain she helps others and hides a lot of her own feelings, even from her sister, Lucy.
When looking for new staff for her busy cafe Gemma finds the ideal candidate in Occy. Occy is a teenage girl desperate for a chance to work and keen to learn. Gemma takes her under her wing and helps to bring the sullen, unhappy teenager out of her shell - the two form a firm friendship. Meanwhile Gemma develops a close platonic (but physically charged!) friendship with Occy’s father, Jude.
An understanding of the complexity of grief from loss of relationships, death and infertility was clearly and sensitively depicted through the eyes of Gemma. The book is a romance but friendships figure prominently. The characters are so down to earth and realistic. The banter and double entendres are amusing and add to the enjoyment of the storylines.
Like the first in the series this book is another fabulous story of new beginnings, the beauty of kindness and the joy of friendships between people of all ages. I loved reading Gemma’s story.
With many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a digital ARC of the book.
A lovely read, ideal beach book. Loved it. Gemma extends her cafe ..her sister beco es pregnant and a handsome fireman comes into her life ..all with complications! Add Occy to the mix and a newcomer who turns out to be her mother and you have all the ingredients for a good read.
Highly recommend
A lovely return to Driftwood Bay and catch up with Gemma and Lucy, to see how they are faring following the death of their beloved mother in the last novel. The cafe Gemma is now running has expanded and she is loving her life living in the bay and being close to her newly pregnant sister, despite her sadness that she cannot be a mother herself.
The extension of the cafe brings Jude into Gemma’s life as he comes to inspect the work for fire safety. After an initial prickly start the two tentatively become friends and the promise of more.
Lots of family drama, romance, betrayal, comedy and tears. A really lovely feel good read that has lovely charming characters and a backdrop of stunningly descriptive scenery.
Highly recommended.
Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
I just love Kim's books and I loved being back in the Cove.
The bistro reminds me so much of a place I worked in that I fell in love with it straight away. Gemma melted my heart, a definite heart of the sleeve kind of woman. I found her relationship with Occy heartwarming and I saw a lot of my younger self in Occy that it made me smile.
I can't wait to read more of Kim's books and hopefully we end up back in the Cove one more time.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Oh my gosh. What a brilliant book. It had me laughing out loud and it had me filling up with tears.
Gemma is such a lovely character. She’s been let down in the past and is apprehensive about ever having a man in her life. She is enough, doesn’t really need anyone but what if someone came along?
I loved Occy, and wanted to hug her!
Family and friendships are so very important, and this book showed every aspect. It had me wishing for a sister that’s for sure.
Driftwood Bay is such a lovely setting, and I imagined the views of the harbour and bay. It felt so real to me.
A fabulous story written by the loveliest person. No wonder Kim Nash books grab me in, her personality is written all over it. A kind and caring beautiful woman.
Highly recommended by me, and can’t wait for the next instalment.
I loved this visit to Driftwood Bay. Gemma is the cafe owner looking to expand her business. Gemma is one of the most genuine people who just want to do the best for others, so you really do route for her to do the best for her as well.
The relationships formed in this book are so well written and touching you just can't help but feel the feels. The side characters in this book are amazing as well but as you can probably tell Gemma was my favourite.
This book was a truly uplifting read. The writing in this book is second to none and I was completely gripped from start to finish. Sometimes this genre can be a bit flaky but this book and series cover some pretty deep topics amongst the brilliance that is Kim Nash's writing. It is a pure testament to its greatness when you finish a standalone book in the series and still want to know when the next one is out. This book envelopes you in a warm hug and I urge everyone to go and read it.
I absolutely adore this series of books. This could be read as a standalone but I highly recommend the other books in the series for the full enjoyable experience.
This instalment focused on the character of Gemma who owns the cafe in Cornish cove and also introduces us to sone new characters to the cove including Jude and his daughter occy who really added to the story. I loved the descriptions of the cove and the scenery and made me want to live there.
This was an incredibly uplifting and feel good read and once I had started reading I couldn’t put it down and read it in practically one sitting. I am excited to read the next instalment of this series.
This book is the second book in the series but it could be read as a standalone novel. I suggest that you read the first book though, as it's fantastic!
It was lovely to be back in Driftwood Bay, and to catch up with all of the characters. This book focuses on Gemma,as she is expanding her Cafe. We are also introduced to Jude and his Daughter Occy, who are both great characters.
I really enjoyed reading this book, It was interesting to learn more about Gemma and Lucy's past. There was a lot of emotion, as well as a few twists along the way. This was an uplifting and heartwarming read. I really hope that there is another book in the series.
Thank you to Netgalley and Boldwood books for my ARC.
After finishing Hopeful Hearts At The Cornish Cove, Ii was desperate to be back with the residents of Driftwood Bay, and I was particularly excited to be able to read Gemma's story, as I was keen to get to know her better. Kim Nash writes in the first person and this really helped me to understand Gemma's feelings and motivations. She has created a character with wonderful depth and I really wanted to keep reading to make sure she got her happy ending.
It isn't just Gemma who captured my heart in Finding Family At The Cornish Cove. All the characters are beautifully crafted and they have a great sense of humanity which helped me to relate to them even when they make mistakes. They are brilliantly observed and I hope some of them pop up in a future instalment of this series!
Kim Nash is brilliant at writing comedy scenes, but in Finding Family At The Cornish Cove , she also touches on some more serious issues, such as grief, infertility and relationships. There is something in this novel for everyone to relate to and the author writes about it in such a heartfelt way.
I can't wait to see where this series goes next.
A nice addition to this series. We follow safe owner Gemma and her family. Gemma is a great character as are Occy and dad Jude. I enjoyed this story of second chances and new beginnings.
This is the second book in the Driftwood Bay series and introduces Gemma, a girl who questions everything she does. Is she doing the right thing expanding her mother's business. It's really annoying and unfortunately I didn't really enjoy this one as much as I did the first.
But for someone else this will be a perfect read.
And it’s a welcome return to Driftwood Bay and the beautiful Cornish Cove it inhabits…..
We meet some new faces who are about to make an impact on Gem’s life, learn of a few secrets that may be exposed and hear of a pudding never heard of before ( well I hadn’t 😊 ) and all done in the authors reassuringly comfy and cosy way
I always want to go to Driftwood Bay when read about it,it’s so enchanting and magical sounding….twinkly night lights and lighthouse’s,a cafe with separate spaces for various interests that serves delicious cakes and hearty breakfasts and just the general feeling that it’s a wonderfully clean aired wholesome place to be
Of course having great characters helps and good storylines and this time we see Gem’s vulnerability and sorrow re her Mum yet also her resilience in all she takes on,she is a fab character and friend to make
It’s a relaxing read that has parts of tension in it but all leads back to this wonderful village and the life they have here and I genuinely love spending time there with them all
A terrifically upbeat and happy read
I really enjoy Kim Nash's books and this was had likeable characters and story, there was an interesting twist thwt i didn"t see coming.
Gemma decides to expand her cafe and buys the shop next door. While her friend, Clem, does the renovation for her, local fire and safety officer, Jude Adams pops in to give advice and sparks definitely fly between himself and Gemma!
When Gemma gives Jude’s fifteen-year-old daughter a part time job, they end up spending more time together but just as friends. Gemma’s husband left her just after her mum had died and Jude has been on his own with Occy since Occy’s mum left them when she was a little child.
As the renovations continue, we see the relationship change between Jude and Gemma. Occy even has a better relationship with her dad since she’s known Gemma.
I could seriously sit here and write gushing things about this series all day long, I just love it!
I enjoyed seeing most of the local villagers again in this second book in the series. Set in Cornwall, the descriptive writing is beautiful. The relationship between Gemma and her older sister, Lucy is heartwarming and at times made me a little emotional.
My favourite character has to be Occy, she was brilliant (and also reminded me of myself at that age)!
This is one of those books that I just couldn’t put down. I was hooked on the gossip of the characters as well as the will they, won’t they relationship of Gemma and Jude.
I’m hoping it won’t be a long wait until there is another book in this outstanding series.
My thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for a copy in exchange for my honest review.
A very good read and very emotional at times. The things we do to protect our loved ones. The cafe sounded amazing. Did get a bit cross with Jude one of the main characters but I knew where he was coming from. Children are amazing , annoying and we should be very grateful . Can’t say any more read it.
Finally, I got to go back to Driftwood Bay which I just couldn’t wait to get back to after absolutely adoring the first book (Hopeful Hearts at the Cornish Cove)
In this instalment we meet Gemma, who owns the cafe in Driftwood Bay. Where she’s making some big changes to the cafe and to her life too, though I won’t go into the specifics. I literally read this book in a day, which doesn’t happen often with me. I’d actually say I enjoyed it just as much as the first book in the series.
Kim just has a way of drawing you into a beautiful summer setting, with very relatable characters. I adored Occy, she definitely had a personality all of her own. I was totally rooting for both Gemma and Occy in equal measure.
‘Finding Family at the Cornish Cove’ is a story with found family (as the title suggests) that’s full of life, friendship with a sprinkling of love to boot. I highly recommend both books is this stunning series.
I can’t wait to read more of Kim’s wonderful books in the future and more of her backlist since I’ve already read a few of those in the past (which I also enjoyed)
Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Enjoyed this great second instalment in the Cornish Cove series.
Lovely characters and a fab storyline. Highly recommended.
