Thank you to Little Brown Book Group UK and NetGalley for providing me with an eARC of Do Your Worst.

Riley Rhodes is a curse breaker by trade but when she is asked to investigate supernatural goings on in a Scottish Castle, she hasn’t banked on the fact that broody archeologist Clark Edgeware will be there with scepticism and to thwart her every turn. Only trouble being that the curse has other ideas and they will ultimately have to work together if they are going to solve the mysteries of Arden Castle.

Do Your Worst is a charming enemies to lovers, grumpy x sunshine, witchy x academic vibe with all the spice thrown in!

I loved both Riley and Clark’s characters in this and thought their opposite personalities really added to the tension between them. I wish there had been a bit more build up of enemies before lovers, but overall I thought the way that both characters worked through their own personal issues whilst solving the mysteries together was really well done.

A feel good romance that made me smile :)

Do Your Worst is a fun contemporary, with witchy elements and lots of spice! I really enjoyed The Roommate by Rosie Dana so was so excited to dive into another of her books - and I was not disappointed!
This had just as much fun banter and spice, with a great enemies to lovers romance - my favourite to read!
I also really liked Clark and Riley as characters, seeing their completely different way of thinking but how they fell for each other anyway.
A super fun read, great for lovers of enemies to lovers, spice and contemporaries with a pinch of the mystical!
Thank you netgalley and Little Brown Book UK for the eARC.

The plot sounded a bit more interesting and supernatural than it turned out to be (sometimes I wondered if anything supernatural happened at all other than the FMC's chaotic presence not burning down a whole building) but this was still cute. The two characters were likable and I liked their chemistry. On the other hand, I feel like this could be a bit shorter. I really grew irked by Riley's idea of what the curse was and her not thinking it through properly. And I'd suggest a bit more research about Scotland (or any other country the author chooses) next time. But the ending was cute, too so all in all, this was alright.

Honestly, I think this was 'wrong book, wrong time, wrong medium'. I've read a Rosie Danan book before and this one sounded fun, but if you give me an info dump in the first couple of pages and tell me the character's ENTIRE LIFE STORY before anything actually happens, I'm going to put you down. The writing was just...notgood. But, maybe in audio I'll try again.

I had been dying to get my hands on this book since I saw an ARC at a London signing - I found this book so funny and honestly loved every moment. Riley was such a wonderful woman to follow, she was so sure of herself and knew her worth. Clark made me want to strangle him at first, but quickly we got to see the real side of him. This book was funny, and beautiful and it just gave me all the feels. I did not expect the journey it would take me on, but it was worth it. I really hope Danan writes more fantasy-ish in the future as this book was brilliant.

I probably could have finished this but I just couldn’t be bothered - it’s just boring, lots of waffle, don’t really like or care about the characters, SO many pop culture references that will date it in the future, no tension and it’s trying too hard to be funny. Plus, a man from Manchester using Scottish slang just because he’s there for 6 weeks was winding me up.

I enjoyed the author’s previous two books but this one didn’t hit.

I’ve been loving all the paranormal romances I’ve been reading and I regret nothing. I feel like this genre is a new favourite of mine.

This book was so cute and amazing 😍
[Riley Rhodes finally has the chance to turn her family's knack for the supernatural into a legitimate business when she's hired to break the curse on an infamous Scottish castle. Used to working alone in her alienating occupation, she's pleasantly surprised to meet a handsome stranger upon arrival - until he tries to get her fired.

Fresh off a professional scandal, Clark Edgeware can't allow a self-proclaimed 'curse breaker' to threaten his last chance for redemption. After he fails to get Riley kicked off his survey site, he vows to avoid her. Unfortunately for him, she vows to get even.

Riley expects the curse to do her dirty work by driving Clark away, but instead, they keep finding themselves in close proximity. Too close. Turns out, the only thing they do better than fight is fool around. If they're not careful, by the end of all this, more than the castle will end up in ruins.]

Riley and Clark are different in so many ways and at the same time they have what matters the most in common.

They start their partnership by being “enemies” and along the way end up being friends and more. They are each other person and their support system.

This was a fun read. Was I maybe expecting a bit more, yes, but I didn’t dislike what we got. For some reason romance books always start off a little rocky for me, I don’t know why. Maybe it’s just that I don’t entirely understand the feeling of “see a person, think they are hot, immediately try to sleep with them”. While I thought the romance started too fast (it would have been a more interesting dynamic if this was a second-chance romance and they had known each other previously), I do think it was still cute.

I liked the characters and their motivation, and as always I am grateful for the dual POV. Both Riley and Clark were well fleshed out, and I found myself rooting for them to grow as individuals and as partners.

This book also has a really fun magic system. The way the curses work was both magical and logical, and I enjoyed that touch. Overall I think the story could have used some more work, but once again I’m not mad about it. I wouldn’t mind if we got a second book in this series following two of the characters mentioned in this one, and I will definitely read from Rosie Danan again.

For some reason, I went into this thinking that it was going to be a lot more supernatural in theme. I did, however, really enjoy the subtlety.

I've read other books by Rosie, but I think this might be my favourite. Who doesn't love a good scottish highlands setting for a romance book? And with enemies to lovers too? Just what I needed!

✨Book Review✨

Do Your Worst by Rosie Danan has been on my tbr since it was first announced and I was so excited to get the arc and read it last week! I’ve been in a bit of a fantasy/horror book faze so this contemporary romance was the perfect way to change it up a bit.

Set in a haunted castle in Scotland, Riley, a curse breaker trying to prove her gift is real, and Clark, a disgraced archaeologist trying to redeem himself, are thrown together to figure out why the castle drives everyone away. The duo are instantly drawn to each other and sparks fly after their first kiss, only for Clark to screw Riley over and attempt to get her fired on her first day! Riley isn’t the type to back down and she uses all of her curse-breaker skills to try to get Clark to be the first to throw in the towel. The only problem is they can’t seem to get past their initial attraction for each other 💕

I devoured this book and loved every minute of it! It gave me Outlander meets The Mummy vibes and I loved the adorable moments of working together whilst also secretly trying to get one up on each other 😏

I found this book to be a little different to the authors previous two titles, I think there was a lot more description and background in this one.
Once again, Rosie Danan brought the spice with this couple. Their enemies to lovers romance was the perfect slow burn, full of anticipation.
While not my favourite book by this author, I did really enjoy it.

I so wanted to love this, but it felt a bit insta love for me and I didn't really like either of the characters.

A lovely little enemies to lovers romance with a twist. Set in picturesque Scotland, the remoteness adds to their forced proximity.

Firstly I loved Riley, she was funny, confident, sassy and caring. Both of the main characters I thought were really well developed and had a lot of depth. Each with their own hardships and developments. I found them really relatable. A man so moody he refuses to acknowledge he has Infact adopted a stray cat.

The story itself was engaging and really made me want to read on and find out where it would all lead. There was a nice amount of spice and the spice was well written and wonderfully didn’t detract from the plot or become the sole focus of the story which I really liked.

I had not read anything by this author before but now added her other 2 books to my TBR

So why not 5 star?

You can’t carbon date metal daggers…
Clark Edgeware is not a sexy name
The romance felt slightly rushed and their wasn’t enough build up of them being enemies

It has been a hot second since I’ve read an enemies to lovers book and reading this reminded me how much I absolutely love them.

This was such a fun and spicy enemies to lovers that I thoroughly enjoyed! I loved the Scottish legends and lore in this one, Scotland is a destination that I'm determined to visit once in my life and I just loved being transported there. I also really liked the whole idea of curse breaking and I think Rosie Danan done an amazing job of explaining how it works.

I really liked Riley and Clark and their chemistry was amazing. I loved how developed these characters were and how realistic and relatable they came across. Each had their own issues and flaws but that just honestly makes me love them more. I also really liked Clark's character growth in this one.

Do Your Worst was a fast-paced and entertaining enemies to lovers set in Scotland that I really enjoyed and I highly recommend picking this one up!

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Piatkus for sending me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

A great little romance with a touch of magic in a beautiful contemporary, Scottish setting.

The spice was scorching and well written, but there was also an engaging plot to go with all the heat, as well as great character development for both leads. And funny banter!

Riley was a strong character, full of confidence, dealing with some slight daddy issues and overcoming judgement about her job.

Clark was a sweetheart, who struggled with anxiety and his own family drama which eventually resolved well. But the name Clark Edgeware - sorry, but that is an old man name, and I found it very difficult to imagine him as an attractive man in his 30s!

This is also perfect for those who like instalove - personally, I thought the love declaration came way too quickly, but I suppose it worked here.

In Do Your Worst we follow Riley, an American Curse Breaker in Scotland on a mission to break a curse on an ancient castle, and Clark, archaelogist and skeptic who wants nothing to do with said curse breaking.

Things start to change as Riley becomes convinced the curse is affecting both of them as they try to come up with a plan to solve the ancient mystery and not fall for each other.

I had hoped for a bit more adventure with this one, it didn't give me any of The Mummy vibes at all, it was very steamy and romance heavy, a fun fast read nonetheless.

Thanks to Little Brown and NetGalley for the chance to read Do Your Worst.

Such a delightful and comfort read for the fall!
Hands down one of the easiest books to binge I've picked up lately. I loved the writing, the charming setting, the delightful characters and how beautiful the romance between Riley and Clark was.
If you're looking for a feel good romance that's also a solid book, then I highly recommend it

What a treat! I am a big fan of Rosie Danan's books and feel very privileged to receive an advanced copy from Little Brown Book Group via NetGalley. Riley and Clark were relatable, likeable characters with an immediate attraction. As an archaeology graduate (and Indiana fan), Clark was a delight. A truly wonderful read.

I really enjoyed this. I honestly would have read anything by Rosie after how much I loved the Roommate and the Intimacy Experiment when I read them last year, and this was such an enjoyable read. Antagonists to lovers, forced proximity and just a sprinkling of paranormal. I love the tension and chemistry between Clark and Riley, the way it was immediately evident and they continue trying to deny and ignore it till they eventually snapped. I also loved Clark’s belief in Riley, maybe not in the curse and the paranormal but how by the end they trust each other implicitly and just want to support each other.
4-4.5*
