I really enjoyed this grumpy sunshine romance. It was fun, engaging with great character development, the quirky cast of characters including one hilarious hairless cat.
I haven't read any of the others in this series but that wasn't an issue. Each story while featuring the same family features one pivotal couple per book.
I received an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.
i really really enjoyed this book! this book had me constantly laughing out loud and was super enjoyable! considering i’m sucker for fake marriage books, i really lovedd seeing how much thomas changed when alice was brought into his life! i also loved mary and felt like she really helped make the book more enjoyable. additionally, i like getting to read thomas’ development throughout the e tire story! overall, i really liked this book and definitely recommend!
I loved every single thing about it, hated that it had to end, and the adorable cat was just icing on an already perfect cake. I’m recommending this book with all my heart.
ANYONE BUT THE BOSS By SaraL. Hudson
Recently promoted marketing manager Alice Truman should be celebrating her successful career change. Instead, after a lifetime of foster-care hard knocks, she’s thrust into insta-caregiver mode when her foster sister cuts town, leaving behind her ailing father and five-year-old daughter.
With new bills mounting daily, Alice needs her job more than ever. So when her boss, who’s marrying into the Moore family, invites her to be a bridesmaid in their crazy Sin City wedding, saying no is not an option.
At least everything that happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, right?
Not exactly.
When Thomas and Alice wake up after a night of drinking their troubles away in the hotel bar, they find they have a whole new set of ball-and-chain consequences to drag home to New York.
😊What i liked -
✔ Workplace/Age Gap/Fake Marriage/Forced Proximity.
✔ Okay firstly Mike Hunt is an emotion.
✔ I Absolutely Adored Thomas's bond with Alice's niece.
✔ Thomas's Mum was epic. Queenie and Mary's bond was so cute.
✔ The way Thomas cares for Alice and Vice Versa was so sweet. (i am a huge fan of grand gestures)
✔ Lots of love and laughter in this one with a touch of heartache too.
🤔What could have been better -
✔ I wish it was shown they were more open with each other.

Thank you, Sara L. Hudson and Boldwood Books, for a copy.
I’ve really enjoyed this book. From the first line, which had me laughing straight away, I was hooked and couldn’t put it down. It’s really nicely paced and the writing flows beautifully. I thought that Thomas was the prefect grump to Alice’s sunshine and I thought they were perfect for each other. I loved Alice, she’s so sweet and her heart is always in the right place. I loved her relationship with her her pseudo-niece Mary. I haven’t read the first book in the series but it didn’t matter as this can easily be read as a standalone. This is easily one of the funniest and sweetest books that’s I’ve read in a long time.
This book was not my cup of tea. The characters were hard to ship from the beginning and it was tough to root for Thomas and Alice. Others may appreciate the Cinderella-esque storyline (and apparently the hairless cat!) but I could not.
This book was such a good read, she is a girl who thinks her boss despises her, when in reality he is just in my terms neurodivergent, bc he doesn’t socialize well and his words are constantly blunt (bc are truthful) causing stress to the other person.
It’s a nice romance story and I love it
This is the second book of the Anyone but You series, but my first by this author, so I unfortunately missed the first book. That wasn't a problem, however, because I had no trouble reading this as a standalone. The story had a mixture of different tropes like forced proximity, fake relationship, and grumpy/sunshine, which made it all the more fun to read. Thomas is the heir to the family business and he's also a bit of a stick in the mud. Alice gets a big promotion and is now a marketing manager, working for Thomas. Alice's best friend and Thomas' brother are getting married in Vegas and both head there to be witness to an Elvis-themed wedding, something our very Darcy-like character frowns upon. As events unfold, the comedy progresses, but also the relationship that builds between Thomas and Alice is heartwarming to see. Thomas hadn't planned on falling for Alice and never saw it coming, but there is no doubt she found her way into his heart.
A lovely and fun story that kept me smiling and laughing all the way through. I truly enjoyed the story and hope to have the opportunity to read more of this author's work. Thank you to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for providing a complimentary copy. This is my honest and voluntary review.
Anyone But the Boss by Sara L. Hudson was a good read which brought a few tears. Thomas is a real grump who feels he doesn't deserve happiness. Alice is an orphan with a foster family history. Both characters are well depicted. It was a quick read with a good amount of steam. I love a boss/employee trope especially with a grump.
Thomas and Alice are caught in a funny nightmare(an oximoron I know) that starts in Las Vegas. However what happens in Vegas does not stay there. Oh yeah don't for get Mike the cat. Laugh out loud all the way thru. Read this and be happy!
This was a very quick and easy read. The beginning was hard to get into because Thomas' attitude towards Alice was unbearable but he became better in the second half. Alice was sometimes very annoying tbh. I did not realise that this is the second book in a series so it was a bit hard to keep track of all the characters. Also, I could not really feel the chemistry between Thomas & Alice tbh. Regardless, I found the book to be very entertaining and the whole setting around the wedding was great!
I received an ARC in exchange of an honest review
This is your boss employee trope with a number of heavy sex scenes ending with a HEA. Overall a quick and easy 2.75 star read. Mike the cat was adorable!

"Anyone But The Boss" is a n emotional and steam filled romance that will grab you from the start. This story sizzles with chemistry, and to me is a must-read. The author has fabulous storytelling skills and I’ll be back for more
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I had a hard time connected to this story. I felt like the beginning of the story should have started in Vegas although I understand why the author chose to pre-face the story so there was context. I found the beginning of the story chaotic and there were a lot of characters to keep track of. I couldn’t establish the love interest soon enough so maybe that’s why my interest sorta fizzled out.
However, it was spicy and full of comedic accidents which gave it more of a rom com feel. Thomas and Alice did have a connection and you felt invested when they were on the page together. This had a the feel of a marriage of convenience trope and found family.
I would recommend this for individuals seeking a good laugh. I would rate this a three out of five just because I felt disconnected and not invested in the story, I has provided this ARC by Netgalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.
This will be my go-to book when I'm in a reading slump. It was hilarious - enough that I snorted painfully. The interactions with Mary were so tender, it'll make even the grumpiest of reader (ME) fall in love with all the characters. I can't wait to read it again soon, especially the audiobook!
A great read, the story or Thomas and Alice. She works for his family company so she should be off limits, but will he be able to keep away from her? Looking forward to the next book in this series.
This was a fun steamy story that kept me entertained and I do think I'd read more from this author.
Plus hairless cat? That's all I'm going to say lol
Okay, I admit it...
...I didn't connect the dots between the previous book I read by this author and this one until running across a certain hairless cat...
I mean, I read A LOT of books, and sometimes storylines can echo each other, so I chalking up the high strung brother, and the kicked back executive planning wedding events to classic story starters. The tension between Thomas and Alice, though palpable, was obviously a lead up to present the potential couple for the book. The bestie, who happens to be the other brother's fiancé and a kick butt marketing exec, proved essential to bring our girl out of her shell a little, giving us the possibility of an awakening for her future self. But then we have the hairless cat name Mike....Hunt... and my memory swung into overdrive 😆
The cat's name alone is just one of about a bajillion adult jokes, references, or scenes, hence my adults only comment, that just keep on rolling! From the grooming session/standoff in Thomas' office to the ill-fated carry on that should've never been CARRIED on, the nap time with benefits on the plane to the ill-timed surprise company that gets treated to a full on exposure in a rather unusual way, you won't be able to keep a straight face. Let the lesson be learned though, through Alice's first hand experience...it might be best to read those more INTERESTING ebooks when in the company of "anyone but the boss"...or at the very least avoided when you take medicine that could make you drowsy.
A hot time in the city of sin, and, let's face it, beyond! The grumpy/sunshine trope is alive and kicking in this one, and while it stands alone, it makes a great companion to the first book too! Romance fans... don't walk, RUN...or at least click...on over to your favorite online retailer to snag your copy today, and prepare for a daringly great read!
Grumpy Sunshine and Fake Relationship in the book was fantastic. Thomas and Alice had a wonderful comedic relationship.
I loved loved loved this book. My heart is bursting with love for Alice, Thomas and Mary (way too much for her).
This book started with a bang and embarassing moment (take special care at airport with what you are carrying, iykyk) that had me laughing and also feeling sorry for our main leads.
The entire book had me laughing and loving everyone so much. I have highlighted so many lines and just couldn't stop. Glad it was my Kindle.
Thomas is a grump, hot and handsome luxury store owner. With family issues imploding, he is left to connect with his estranged siblings, which currently entails being his best man at a Elvis theme wedding in Vegas. He might come across as someone who is uptight and with no emotions but I don't blame him, it is the doing of his father and he is trying not to be like him.
Alice grew up in foster care and is kind, polite to everyone other than Thomas, for whom she works as marketing manager. He seems to be testing her and she avoids his grumpy a$$ as much as she can.
She is thrust into care giver role when her foster sister leaves her daughter, Mary at hospital and is nowhere to be found. Now with paying bills she also has to ensure that Mary is taken care of.
This is leads to a fake relationship between a boss and employee which Thomas is completely against (with what happens in Vegas too) this giving us a grumpy sunshine trope in addition to my all time favorite fake dating trope.
Mary is a sweetheart, angel. I can't say enough that I love her. She has brightened up the whole story with ofcourse her Queenie and Michael.
The comedy, writing, chemistry, banter, dialogues everything about this book was incredible, unique and charming. This was hilarious, delightful and heartfelt and emotional. A perfect book to recommend when someone asks me why I love rom-com.
In addition to above, If you love:
☆ dual pov
☆ forced proximity
☆ found family
☆ boss x employee
It is one of my top favourites for the year and I highly recommend it.
