My sincere thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read Anyone But the Boss and give my unbiased opinion of it in the following review.

Thomas has had a rough year, his father has gone to prison, his younger brother is his polar opposite and loves to torment him with his hairless cat, his mother is embracing her inner cougar and he has been admiring a woman named Alice, but his rules won't let him pursue her because she is an employee. When he goes to Las Vegas for his brother's wedding, imagine his surprise when he wakes up in the same bed with Alice and they are both wearing wedding rings. On top of that, Alice is surprised by having her young niece abandoned into her care and the only way to keep her is to go along with the marriage so she can provide a suitable home for Mary. Yep, it's a mess!

The first part of the book is a little too chaotic and maybe even a little slap stick. Too much "com" to the "rom". The second half of the book was a nice back and forth between Thomas and Alice working through their growing feelings. I liked Thomas interaction with little Mary and there was definitely more growth shown with his character. I didn't feel a lot of depth to the story even though I thought I should be. I am wondering if I missed out by reading this book before the first in the series. Had I read the first book, maybe I would have understood Thomas a little better. There is a grand gesture at the end that is kind of cute.
I may check out the first book out of curiosity. 3.5/5

This is not my first time, being a fan of Sara L. Hudson since Space Junk, an incredible book by the way. And every book I read of her is better, more fun, hilarious and with characters that make you suffer until you reach that good ending
.
This is the second book in the series about the Moore family, a wealthy family established in New York with a historic department store
.
Thomas is the oldest of the brothers, the most serious and most detail-oriented. Busy keeping each member of the family safe from scandals and working non-stop, he is a role model or was until his younger brother decides to marry in Las Vegas with an Elvis impersonator as a minister and his family decides to carry every strange idea that goes through their heads
.
And he wakes up on the wedding day with a ring on his finger and Alice Truman with a matching ring at his side
.
Alice can't believe that after a few drinks at the bachelorette party she has decided to cross the line with her boss Thomas Moore, who she is sure either hates her or does his best to tolerate her
.
They both hope to resolve the situation as soon as possible and without anyone finding out, but when Alice receives an unexpected call and needs someone to lean on, Thomas is the right person even if she has to do something so out of character and blackmail him to remain her husband for a while
.
Trying to keep it a secret is tough with a company full of noisy employees and a nosy family like the Moores, especially when you add a creepy cat and a little girl into the mix with the strange
and fun scenes that lead to the steamy parts and more romantic moments
.
This is a millionaire romance with Enemies to lovers with a perfect Mr. Darcy and a perfect Lizy, a single parent situation , with a witty family, unpredictable cat and nosy coworkers
.
It's always a guaranteed good time if I'm to read a book by Sara L Hudson, I'm going to laugh constantly and try to imagine those strange scenes when everything goes wrong and the room ends up in a fire and although everyone comes out unscathed and one believes that nothing else can surpass it, until the next chapter arrives
.
Thanks to Sara L Hudson and Bolwood Books by give me a copy of this book in exchange for my honest and voluntary opinion

This book is a super cute and quick romance read.

This is the second book in the ‘Anyone But You’ series, and while you could read this as a standalone, I would strongly recommend reading the first book in the series in order to fully understand the depth of the characters and side characters.

If you read the first book, that’s exactly the same vibe as what to expect from this book, except with a lot more miscommunication and a bit of a marriage of convenience trope.

This book is humorous, but it’s low brow humor - I thoroughly enjoyed it, and found myself laughing a long, but it’s definitely not a book you have to think hard about. It’d serve as the perfect palette cleanser between heavier books, or just a book to read if you’re having a bad day.

After reading the first chapter and rolling my eyes I didn’t expect to enjoy myself, but I definitely did, and will be on the lookout for future books in this series.

I started out a little dubious about this book…even considered dnfing towards the beginning when it said the MMC is 40 and the FMC is 29. I DO NOT like age gap romances, but this gap was just close enough to be readable (why couldn’t he have been in his 30’s?) I also didn’t really like that he is he her boss, but at least she doesn’t seem completely acting out of concern for being fired. I really didn’t appreciate that the first time the main characters got together they were both drunk. That’s just an ick for me. I liked the side characters, mainly Mary and Emily, and Mike Hunt the cat was reasonably funny comic relief. I do generally like grumpy/sunshine books, so that aspect was enjoyable. There were some continuity errors/typos, but I’m assuming those will be worked out before publication (i.e. is she wearing his t-shirt or hers, etc.).there was a bit of a twist concerning their marriage (and the MCC’s sister), which I figured out fairly early on, but that wasn’t a problem. I really enjoyed the end of the book and the epilogue (iykyk).
Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for providing this eARC for my honest opinion!

Books like this make me realise how old I am - and how much I appreciate good grammar, syntax and style. Anyone But the Boss by Sara L Hudson will almost certainly be described by some as a light-hearted romp (or words to that effect) and I can see, objectively, why that might be the case. But my personal response to the book and its characters was to feel weary. So, not one for me but almost certainly one for many others.

I liked it fine at first, but then the FMC stumbled into the MMC while falling down drunk and he took advantage of that by having s*x with her. What happened to consent?? She was clearly described as falling down, stumbling drunk. Ruined it for me.

Thanks to the Publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.

I enjoyed reading this book.

Thomas is owner of the luxury department store Moores, and the marketing manager is Alice.

He doesn’t want to admit to himself that he likes Alice and she thinks that he’s only nice from a distance, otherwise he’s not a nice person.

But, when they attend a wedding in Las Vegas, things change. What comes after that sees some difficult issues that are covered as well as some funny moments too.

The characters were all lovely.

I recommend this book.

After a lot of drinks, Alice returns to her hotel room to find Thomas sitting and waiting for his sister, but while the alcohol gives her courage, Thomas and Alice play out their fantasies. But this one night in Vegas should stay in Vegas until complications with Alice's niece lead to the pair needing to be married and Alice and Mary (the niece) moving in with Thomas.

But this serious straight-faced business man will soon have his heart melted and he will have to truly become the man he wants to be and shake away from his father's expectations.

We are back with Mike Hunt and the gang and this time we follow Alice, who was previously promoted, and Thomas, who is Chase's older brother.

I loved continuing to hear about Bell and Chase and adored that we got even more of Mike Hunt, George and Emily. These characters would have been truly missed if they didn't make an appearance.

I love how Hudson gives us an emotional raw narrative which pulled at my heartstrings for Alice's back story but which led us to a beautiful happily ever after.

This is a feel-good read, with the perfect amount of spice, that you will not be disappointed with.

This is the second novel in the series and I would highly recommend reading the first before starting this; just so you get to know all the characters. I hope Hudson brings us a third so we get to know more about Liz as I am very intrigued.

Definitely an author to add to anyone's go-to list.

First thought: This book is a prime example of everything I love about romance novels, it had all my favorite tropes. It hit every want, need and desire and left me wishing it wouldn’t end. A must read for sure!

Alice is a sweet hard worker who was recently promoted to the marketing team, she works hard to prove she belongs. What makes her job hard is her Boss Thomas, he’s arrogant, grumpy and thinks she doesn’t belong there. Alice plays the game of avoidance as much as she can with him and it’s allowing her to survive.

Thomas is a serious, rule with an iron fist, no fun guy. He is the head of a prestigious NYC family and after his father was thrown in prison last year he has a lot to prove. He has no time for nonsense and he has everything he could need. Control is what makes him happy and he can’t seem to keep it with his employee Alice and it’s driving him crazy. So keeping her at arms distance, being dismissive and avoiding her is the plan.

Fate has other plans for these two. They are thrown into the deep end after a wild night in Vegas celebrating Thomas’s brother’s wedding and waking up naked in each other arms with wedding bands! Then they rushing back to NYC to meet with the lawyer to figure it out but never make it. Alice gets a call from the hospital that her niece was injured and was abandoned by her mom. Alice has to go against everything in her to ask him to fake their marriage so she can get temp custody of her niece so she doesn’t end up in the system. From there thing get messier, lines get blurred, feelings get hurt, lust/temptation, and complications set in.

This is a dual POV must read if you like any or all of the tropes below. Plus there is an animal sidekick you’ll either love or hate! Top it off with an instant family of characters you’ll love and you won’t want to put this one down!

Tropes you’ll find:

* Grumpy/Sunshine
* Fake Relationship
* Office Romance
* Forced Proximity
* Mild Spice

4.5/5 ⭐️

This is the second book in the "anyone but you" series and it did not disappoint! I read this in one sitting because of the grip this book had on me. The emotions?! My heart was being clenched. All of my favorite tropes all in one book. Easily a 5 star read, and I'm already antsy for the next book. Sara L. Hudson does it again. Workplace romance, tension, fake marriage, grumpy/sunshine, found family.. what more could you honestly want? This book was hilarious, it made me sad, made me emotional and want to cry.. but in the end patched it up in a nice little bow and made things whole again in my heart.

Thomas Moore is the grumpy golden-boy heir to his family's luxury department store empire. When things blow up in his family, he tries to reconnect with his siblings at his little brother's Las Vegas wedding.

Alice Truman was recently promoted to marketing manager and should be celebrating her career change, but instead, she's trying to take care of her foster family who is in a bind. Desperate times call for desperate measures, right?

Another oops-we-got-married in Vegas story, this one is chef's-kiss perfection. Hudson delivers a hilarious romcom full of character connections, wonderful secondary characters (Mike🐈🌿❤️), and some spicy romance. The humor in this book was awesome. Definitely recommend this quick read. So much fun!

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced digital reader's copy (ARC) in exchange for an honest review!

Anyone But The Boss is a fantastic follow up to Anyone But The Billionaire. It has all the humor, chemistry and lightness I absolutely adored in book 1. And if you haven't read the first book, fear not! This one stands well on its own.

In Anyone But The Boss you get a mash up of the best tropes including Grumpy Sunshine and Fake Relationship, both of which I love.

This book is LOL funny with lots of physical comedy, and Sara does a fantastic job of bringing that comedy to life in this book. It's made even better with so many touching moments that melted my heart ❤️

And as an added bonus, you get a very valuable lesson about being thoughtful about what to take in a carryon through airport security. #iykyk

Loved it!

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

It's a bit spicy, their chemistry is off the charts

I'm a sucker for a grumpy x sunshine workplace romance, and this book DELIVERED.

This book is a funny, spicy and heartwarming found family story with plenty of cute moments.

"Is this a dream?"

"Must be."...

"Why?"...

"Because I thought of you and you appeared."

The character development of the MMC was perfect, he was a grumpy idiot who refused to acknowledge any of his feelings. By the end his icy heart has thawed and he becomes a huge softie with the ability to actually share how he is feeling.

I am usually not a huge fan of children in romance books, it's just another person to worry about when the inevitable 3rd act break-up happens. HOWEVER, I loved Mary. She was so cute and well written.

Also, huge shout out to Mike Hunt. I love you.

When I first started reading this book, I did feel as though it was moving quite quickly and that I had just been thrown in head first. I did not realise this was the second book in a series, though it is supposed to be a standalone. I feel this could have either been made clearer or the first chapter could have been slightly more accommodating to a standalone reader. Despite this, I really enjoyed the book once I figured out the relationship between the characters wasn't brand new.

Heartwarming and funny, a perfect read for anyone wanting to take a mini vacation from the real world with a dash of spice added in. I loved this book, you won’t want to put it down it never lagged and it actually had me chuckling out loud at times.

Alice’s boss Thomas is not someone she particularly likes so after a drunken night in Vegas they both wake up together with matching wedding rings they agree they need to keep things as quiet as possible and try getting it annulled before anyone finds out. While trying to get back home to speak with a lawyer a family emergency happens for Alice which puts the separation temporarily on hold. During this time together Alice starts to see Thomas in a different light along with some clues that maybe Thomas has been interested in her long before they woke up with matching rings.

One of my favorite part in this book is the relationship between Mary, Alices young niece and Emily aka Queenie, Thomas’ mother who definitely gives off Emily Gilmore vibes. Their relationship will pull on your heartstrings while making you grin the whole time. Add in a hairless cat named Mike with a bad catnip addiction and you won’t be able to put this book down.

This was my first book by Sara L. Hudson and I cant wait to get my hands on her others and see what they hold in store.

Tropes include:
Dual POV
Grumpy Sunshine
Workplace Romance
Found Family
Forced proximity

This is a nice quick read that features Alice, a visual merchandiser as she falls in love with her boss Thomas through a series of hilarious event that lead to her friend's wedding. Though it is a predictable storyline and ending, there are some very heart-warming moments that are well though out. With a good dose of humor all throughout, the book will keep you engaged and hooked till the very end. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC. Quite enjoyed this one.
