This was a fantastic read, a little difficult to get past the first few chapters as the 'scene cuts' left me feeling a bit like wait what? Oh were in a new place with a different character... But by around chapter 6 the book found its groove, I found out who was who and who to pay attention to 😉
I loved Alice, what a wonderful character, she's so strong! And Thomas, he needed a kick up the arse and he received it!! Mary was the best part of this book, I also think disney should make an astronaut princess!

Sara Hudson is a new to me author and I will definitely read her again. "Anyone But the Boss" actually made me laugh out loud. The second in a series, but definitely a standalone, this is the story of Alice and Thomas. Alice is a marketing employee in a department store owned by the recently beleaguered but still filthy rich Moore family. Thomas Moore is the company head, the epitome of a stuffed shirt, drawn into ridiculous situations by his brother Chase and Chase's hairless cat, Mike. At Chase's wedding, Alice and Thomas end up in bed together and wake up thinking they are married. The book then follows their return to NYC and unexpected fostering of Alice's niece and ultimate HEA.

I really did love this book. Thomas' journey is subtle but lovely. Alice is seemingly fragile but ultimately so much stronger than even she knew as she calls Thomas on his idiocy. Mike, or Prince Michael, adds a fantastic foil to the emotional angst, and Thomas' family is a great combo of zany and loving, with the loving aspect apparently somewhat new. The steamy scenes are hot.

I have only small quibbles - we don't get any resolution to the Liz location question. I assume it will be in the next book but still something of a hole. Waking up with rings and assuming that means they got married seems shortsighted especially for someone like Thomas. But again, small quibbles.

5 stars. I will look for other books from Sara L. Hudson. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a complimentary ARC of this book. The opinions herein are my own.

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas right? Not likely for these two lovebirds

After a drunken night in Vegas, Thomas and Alice wake up married. ANYONE BUT THE BOSS was light, charming and funny. Slightly too much slapstick in the beginning but the second half was filled with heart and lots of swoony romance.

Read for:
😠☀️Grumpy x Sunshine
👨‍💼Boss x employee
🏡Forced proximity
🔥Spicy
❤️Fluffy
⭐ 4 stars

Thanks to netgalley and publisher for the arc!

Loved the first book, Chase is such a cutie pie and was so funny! This was more serious but very sweet and gave me all the feels! Mike the cat being back was hilarious especially since Thomas hated him so much I was laughing so hard at so many of the cat scenes in this! Mary is adorable and for once didn't hate the inclusion of a child in romcom! Alice ahhh I love that she finally got her lovely family she always deserved! The chemistry was there with Alice and Thomas pretty quick but one thing I wish we got was more of their first year knowing each other because later it would make much more sense how things transpired but either way love this series and hope we get a third book for their baby sis Liz!

Tropes:
Grumpy-Sunshine
Boss-Employee
Drunk Vegas Marriage
Forced proximity and surprise parenting

This was such a fun sweet comedic romance with just enough spice. The broody grumpy older brother (Thomas) to the previous book's lighthearted comedic half (Chase). Mixed with the sunshine optimist Alice made such a perfect pairing. The character development was excellent. I particularly love books that handle the foster care system with at least a hint or realism.

Anyone But The Boss has all the best feels: laugh out loud humor, fake relationship, office politics, Vegas surprise, adorable child, hairless cat, and a cast of characters readers will adore. Sara L. Hudson is a new author for me, but upon learning this was book 2 in a series, I had to immediately download book 1. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book from NetGallley. Most highly recommend.

Wonderful! This light romance is charming and funny, bittersweet, but not angsty.

The initial set piece involves a fair bit of slapstick, with 'toys', a revolting cat and travel to Vegas which introduced all the characters and their dynamic. The side characters from the previous novel are engaging, but the heart of this story is the relationship between our MMC Thomas and FMC Alice. Lots of recognisable tropes here. He’s a closed off and uptight millionaire newly running the business and navigating a bit of an obsession with one of his staff. Alice is relatively sunshiney and an employee of his department store, with tricky family issues of her own.

Family and fate throw them together in delicious, funny and heartfelt ways. It’s swoony and gorgeous, and the shopping is insane! Dual POV, a l'il bit of steam, a quick third act breakup and it's Cinderella-land for Alice!

Although there are challenges, particularly with Alice's back story, it's as light as a feather - thoroughly recommended for an easy afternoon read!

Thank you so very much NetGalley, the author and the publisher for this delightful read.

This was a book of two distinct halves. The first half wasn't to my personal taste, it was a bit too slapstick in the comedy department. What makes people laugh...? Penises and innuendo. Right let's make the whole half about those things.
I didn't give up, but by the halfway point I was on the verge.
The second half was way more subtle and I found the dialogue stepped up a notch and I was laughing more at dry one liners (usually Thomas' inner monolgues) than the earlier Mr Bean style events.
I loved watching Thomas develop. Super subtle but well crafted.

There were a few continuity errors that I read, but they may be worked out by the final draft. The one I remember was when Alice is asleep in the closet in an old T-shirt, definitely not Thomas' and then later he says her neck is bare in his tshirt.

The first half was not my taste and was a 2 star from me. The second half way more suited to my taste and was more of a 4 star. So I've gone for the average. I definitely want to read the first in the series.
