It's a neat manga story, about two high school girls, with a budding friendship, and eventually evolves into a relationship. Saki gets interested with the new girl Kanon, who lost her hearing at the age 5, icy, standoffish due to it and doesn't want help. Saki gets ask by a teacher to sit next to her in classes, help Kanon when ever she can and assist the teachers. Saki also plays piano, Kanon's mom is her new teacher, and she ends up hanging out with her after practice. It's a nice simple storyline, two likable characters, the perfect amount of characters, nice after reading one that had overkill character wise and a predictable storyline.

Loved this sweet story of a high school friendship and budding romance between Saki and Kanon. No doubts at all about recommending this one and not only because of the representation. The artwork was great- nothing too ornate or overloaded, just right to make you focus on the emotional side and Kanon gradually letting Saki in her world. Can't wait to read the next volume!

A cute and funny manga about two girls finding friendship (and possibly more). Lots of lovely moments and I'm looking forward to reading more of this series.

I found this manga very beautiful and touching. The relationship between Saki and Kanon takes its time to develop, and they take time to get to know each other. The treatment of hearing disability is rather well handled, even if I'm not the best judge of that. I really liked the dynamic between the two characters and the people around them (the mother, the other schoolmates, etc.). Kanon's attraction to girls seems to emerge towards the end of the tome, but I think it will be clearly stated in the next tome instead, but Saki is already starting to wonder about Kanon and herself. I can't wait to see how their relationship continues to evolve.

This is NOT like Sign of Affection.

This is a story where a friendship between Saki and Kanon blossoms after a few misunderstandings occur and Saki decides to not give up. Kanon suffers from hearing loss and we learn that she has learned to cope with it by alienating people around her. Saki wants to understand her and her struggles and she does just that.

This manga took my by surprise. It had many great moments. I especially like the explanation of the series title which I will be using from now on because it's great. The ending was incredibly sweet. I will continue with this series.

It has a very different vibe from Sign of Affection. Sign of Affection is smooth and incredibly emotional. The connection between the main characters in that series is palpable from the very beginning. Both characters are very likable.

It takes a while to warm up to Kanon and she can be a bit rude at times. Saki is really kind and thoughtful. I hope she doesn't get hurt.

Thank you to Netgalley and Publishers for providing a copy to review in exchange of an honest review.

I wasn't sure that I would enjoy The Moon on a Rainy Night as much as I did.
The story of a girl not wanting to get close to another person and then finding the perfect friend in that person was such a great way to start the story. I am very excited to see where this series continues to grow. I think it has very relatable content to a young girl. I also love the inclusion of disabilities. It shows it in a way that I feel other stories similar to this doesn't show the each side of how the disability affects the person but also people around them and also their own perceptions of themselves and others. I can not wait for the next volume. I think this is meant to be a 5 part series and I plan on purchasing all 5 once they are out.

I ADORED this one!!!!

It was cute and funny, recognizable and adorable, sweet and lovely.
It's a manga that focuses on a budding friendship and future romance (I think) between two high school girls.
The way their friendship grows is super cute and you can really see the characters grow towards each other and they also go through some personal growth.

Thank you NetGalley for the freebie as it was a "read now".

I loved it a lot!

The slow blossoming of friendship, the way you can open your heart and achieve mutual understanding. I’m really excited to see where this story goes! The first volume sets up quite a few stakes that I’m eager to see the result of!

Thanks to the publisher Kodansha for localizing this one!

Thank you so much to Kodansha Comics and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this manga. Honestly this checked all of my boxes when it comes to items that I enjoy in romance anime/manga. I think to me if you have enjoyed the more wholesome lgtbqia+ stories and also appreciate the hard of hearing aspect of I hear the sunspot, this manga is the best mashup I have read of those items to date. Because of these points, I have to give this a 5 out of 5 stars.

Eine wirklich harmonische und süße Coming of Age story.
Beide Charaktere sind sehr authentisch und die handlung an sich ist sehr süß und emotional.

Excellent first volume in a series. Kuzushiro captures some verey complex issues in a respectful way while keeping both characters viewpoints in mind. Saki meets Kanon, a girl who is hard of hearing and has isolated herself from the hearing world. This series is an exploration of first love, communication, discovering your passions in life, and navigating disabilities in an abled world. So far it's a great yuri with some great art.

Cute! That was a nice read. It wasn't the best manga I've read, but I like reading about Kanon and Saki's relationship. I related hard to Saki on certain aspects. Kanon and Saki were cute together, but since Kanon doesn't seem to show any sort of attraction towards Saki, I felt a bit sad for Saki's one-sided love.

Portrayal of people who are hard at hearing isn't plenty, but I think this book definitely did justice to it (coming from someone who is not hard of hearing). I have a friend who is hard at hearing, and I can see the similarities between Kanon and him and how they both struggle with the same stuff in social situations. It did make me empathize more with my friend, and I feel like I learned a bit on how I can treat my friend better.

Many thanks to Netgalley and Kodansha Comics for the e-ARC!

I was expecting a bit more from this manga, is kind of cute, but the story is kind of disappointing… why should the love interest mother be her new piano teacher… maybe I was not the intended reader for this manga… I did like the drawing that's the reason why I give it 3 stars.

Thank you NetGalley and Kodansha Comics, for the free ARC and this is my honest opinion.

A little too slow paced for me to get fully invested but the characters and art were both solid. It's a kind of odd tone for me, a little somber compared to most romance style manga but worth checking out if you're a fan of the genre.
