A lot of good world building and an interesting way of teaching us about the lore and history without being boring. I've loved SJM since Throne of Glass and I'm so glad she's writing more fantasy!
With ACOTAR and anything by Sarah J Maas being incredibly popular not just around release but especially during this resurgence of book lovers over the last few years, getting the chance to read a snippet was awesome! Her books, to me, are the holy grail of my TBR. I'm desperate to read them but the thought of ticking them off my TBR is bittersweet so I tend to put them on the back burner. I thought reading the first 6 chapters was the perfect teaser for me as I consistently put off reading ACOTAR because it excited me so much. It's like saving your favourite food until the end of a meal until you eat it and get sad because it's gone, but in my case, my TBR is neverending so when will I actually read SJM's books? Well this was definitely the enticement I needed to start them. Perfect teaser for anyone looking to start not only SJM's books bit specifically her ACOTAR series.
Whilst the opening chapters have a great atmosphere about them, setting the scene, this just confirmed that I am not a fantasy reader. Whilst I appreciate others will enjoy it, the idea of such creatures etc for me is just not enjoyable to read.
🌹A Court of Thorns and Rose - Sarah J Maas🌹
I really didn’t expect to enjoy ACOTAR. I was worried that it would be over-hyped and not really my thing as I usually prefer cosy fantasy if I’m going to pick up a fantasy book. I found the world-building easy and the book kept my attention throughout. I found the last part of the book did drag a little but it didn’t take away from my enjoyment of the book.
I had thought this was be a quick DNF and off the TBR but now I’m going to have to read this rest of this series (because I just need to know what happens to Feyre) and more of Sarah J Maas’ work 😬😬
I now understand the hype around this series. Sarah J Maas has a clear talent for crafting stories that grip & suprise you, and take you on a journey full of desperation, hope, love, hatred, pride and all the feels whilst in an interesting and well described fantasy world. I couldn't put this book down and read it in one night. Can't wait to read A Court of Mist & Fury next!
Screaming, crying, throwing up. Obsessed with this series and I wish I could experience all over again for the first time. I know it’s overhyped, but it lives up to that hype. Don’t wait any longer to read this series. It’s honestly what got me back into reading as an adult.
I know a lot of people love these books but I’m sorry, this is not good.
The reader is supposed to like Feyre so SJM makes every other character unlikeable (until she needs them, of course).
The plot is driven along by conveniences and Feyre barely does anything without ample outside interference.
Liked it more than I thought it would, but a big part of it is due to me listening to the audiobook. Constructually, Sarah's writing is prosaic and unnecessarily repetitive. Feyre is a certified dumbass, Tamlin is ridiculous, and Rhysand is coming across as creepy. HOWEVER, it's a simple, entertaining book through which you can rush through. Interesting and absorbing story, with worldbuilding that promises to expand further in later instalments. I can see why it has such a huge following.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an e-ARC copy of this book, in exchange for this honest review.
I loved every second of this. The world building was beautiful and i loved the growth of each character. Sarah J Maas is a genius at writing and making you feel like you are actually in the book. Spectacular!
I have read this whole entire series, so I just wanted to put my review out there that I absolutely love this. I would only write the first book for stars as I feel like it’s not as good as the rest of the series. You do have to plan along through the first book to be able to get to the good part of the series, but I do think this is a bestselling series for a reason.
Has everything you want from fae romance - a plucky heroine, tricksy deals, plenty of magic and an intriguing plot right from the off. While the first book starts off a little slow I still loved this one, and I think it's one of SJM's best series.
I adore this series and love this book. If Maas has written it you can bet I will read it. This book lives up the hyper all over Book-tok and Book-sta and honestly read it if you enjoy fantasy and romance. The characters all have depth (even if it takes a while to see it). I adore this series and re-read it constantly.
I’ve seen so much about this series but I wanted to wait for the hype to die down before I read it.
I loved it. I honestly couldn’t put it down. I cannot wait to get book 2: A Court Of Mist And Fury.
I read House Of Earth and Blood and bloody loved it, so I thought I’d try one of her other series while I wait impatiently for book 3 to come out.
The characters are great, the have depth, personality and you really feel for them. Sarah J. Maas always creates such a detailed world that you feel like you’re there explore and going through this whole adventure with the characters. This definitely feels like a Beauty and the Beast fantasy retelling, the combination of the two just creates this masterpiece.
Feyre is such a brilliant protagonist, sometimes I was there yelling at the book “Girl No”…”What Are You Doing?” You get so invested in her and what she’s doing, you really do submerge yourself.
“I love you,” he whispered, and kissed my brow. “Thorns and all.” ❤️🤍 (Eeeeeeek)
This has been on my TBR for far too long, reading this taster was the perfect way to see if it was for me.
The story is very intriguing and I am loving the characters already! I have heard very good things about the entire series, so can't wait to read more!

I’m seeing this book everywhere & I totally get why! What a read! 🌹❤️
..
“I love you,” I said. “No matter what she says about it, no matter if it’s only with my insignificant human heart. Even when they burn my body, I’ll love you. 🔥

Fantasy isn’t usually my cup of tea. It’s a genre that I’ve always found too heavy but this one is definitely one to cherish... I can see these character staying with me for years to come!
..
I found myself instantly captivated in the world of Feyre & enchanted by all the other characters. There isn’t really much I can say about the series that hasn’t already been said! But, book 2,3 & 4 are currently on order ready to arrive tomorrow 🙄
..
I’ve seen plenty of people say that the books only get better, which is always so reassuring to hear when you are starting out on a new series as there’s nothing worse than picking up a series that peaks in the first book!
Honestly I really love this book I flew through it the romance the fantasy the world building Sarah j Maas strikes again this is a must read book.
Loved this book! Alredy re-read it 3 times and I still love it 😍
Sjm for sure writes the best fantasy books. The way she gives life to the characters and the story it’s amazing and gripping.
Just so you know I have 2 tattoos on this series 😍
Sorry, thought it was a new novel in this series
This was my review:
I loved this book so much that I already pre-ordered the rest of the series.
It's amazing and brilliant, a gripping read that I couldn't put down.
The cast of characters is well thought and interesting, the world building is amazing and Ms Maas is a master storyteller that delivered a fabulous plot.
I strongly recommend it.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.
A Court of Thorns and Roses revolves around Feyre who is taken to Prythian, the land of the faeries, after killing one of their wolves in order to feed her family. After seeing this book everywhere on social media for the past few years, I was so excited to see what the hype was about.
I really enjoyed Sarah J.Maas' writing style as it was very fast paced and I liked that we jumped straight into the story. Feyre as a character felt very similar to Katniss from the Hunger Games, who is one of my favourite book characters of all time so I would be intrigued to see how Feyre's character develops.
I didn't like the rest of Feyre's family and found it very difficult to sympathize with them. It also makes it hard to see why Feyre would want to escape and get back to them which seems to be the direction the plot is taking.
Overall, I enjoyed this extract and will definitely be reading the rest of this book as well as the rest of the series in the future.
I am so intrigued by this book!
I think the main character seems like she’ll be interesting to follow, even though she is a little young (late teenager).
I love the idea of the fae, and I’m really intrigued to see how the world of Prythian develops.
I’m really hooked by Sara J Maas’s writing already, and will definitely be picking the rest of this book up.
