Great puzzle book with fun characters and brilliant illustrations. I hadn't initially realised this was part of a series, but will be getting the earlier books for my children who really enjoyed this.

An age-appropriate and entertaining puzzle/adventure book for young readers. Not what I was expecting, when I requested it, but fun nonetheless.

Such a great read for spooky season! (Even if i am a little late to the game 😂)
This book is a great read with amazing illustrations and a variety of puzzles to solve along the way!
I love interactive books, especially chapter books, so this one was really just amazing.
Sherlock Bones and Dr. Carson are hired to investigate a ghost in Transylvania.
Bones is convinced there are no such things as ghosts... but even he's at a loss to explain the creepy sounds and strange goings-on that he and Catson encounter after a night in the crumbling kennel!
Love. Love. LOVE. Can’t wait to hopefully read more in this adorable series!

My daughter is a big fan of the series and this one was just as great as the others. It is a well written book with fun illustrations and puzzles. My daughter loved solving the mystery but it didn’t take her very long still she enjoyed this and would recommend it

I really enjoyed this fun mystery with puzzles included. I enjoyed the subtle changes to names to fit in with the cat and dog characters. I would definitely recommend this for younger readers who enjoy puzzles and mysteries.

I enjoyed the puzzle books myself when I was younger and wanted to find a modern one to introduce to my class. Sherlock Bones definitely fits my requirements. The story line is engaging with a whole host of characters including Sherlock Bones and the ever-faithful Catson. The illustrations complemented the story and were sprinkled throughout. The puzzles were a wide assortment of different things and I can imagine my children sharing this book in pairs and working on the puzzles together.
I'll definitely be looking out for more.

This was a fantastic book - really well written and thought out, with puzzles tied in to the plot. I read this with my son and we both loved it, and it'll make a perfect gift for his friends.
The characters were engaging and the illustrations were adorable.
Thank you for this ARC. - we loved it!

Really cute and I loved the illustrations throughout. This is definitely an age range that I think need more high quality texts and this definitely fits the bill. Funny, clever and interesting!

There's no escaping the fact that these books are great fun. The last one I had on audio, so being able to do the puzzles was great, even as an adult.
Bones and Catson are off to a creepy castle to solve a haunting but all is not as it seems.

I have such a soft spot for these books- I know you're supposed to read them with kids but I can't wait and end up reading them by myself!
In 'Sherlock Bones and the Horror of the Haunted Castle', Sherlock and his sidekick Jane Catson have been asked to investigate a haunted castle in the Catpathian mountains (not a typo!). The mysterious ghost is stopping the new owners from moving in, can Bones and Catson help to work out what is going on?
With their trademark flair for investigation, interspersed with lots of puzzles to keep your own little grey cells ticking over, this is a great introduction to classic crime fiction, fun for all the family.

"Sherlock Bones and the Horror of the Haunted Castle" by Tim Collins is a delightful addition to the Buster's Sherlock Bones mystery fiction series, offering young readers a fun and interactive adventure alongside the world's greatest dog detective, Sherlock Bones, and his trusty sidekick, Dr. Jane Catson.
In this fourth installment, the story takes an exciting turn when a wealthy dog seeks help from Bones and Catson to investigate ghostly occurrences haunting her kennel in the eerie Catpathian Mountains. The book immediately engages young readers with a captivating mystery that combines elements of the supernatural with detective work.
One of the standout features of this book is the inclusion of 28 puzzles seamlessly woven into the narrative. These puzzles, such as spot-the-differences, number chains, and tangled line games, add an interactive element to the story, making it an engaging and immersive reading experience. It's a clever way to keep young minds active and involved in the detective plot.
The story itself is well-structured, with 14 chapters that maintain a brisk pace, keeping young readers entertained and eager to turn the pages. The characters of Sherlock Bones and Dr. Jane Catson are endearing and relatable, making them great companions for young readers.
I read this book with my 6-year-old daughter and found it fun and interactive. The fact that we both enjoyed the book despite it not being in colour suggests that the storytelling and puzzles succeeded in holding our interest. However, while enjoyable, it may not have been the absolute favourite among children's books we've read together.
In summary, "Sherlock Bones and the Horror of the Haunted Castle" is a fun and engaging children's book that combines mystery, adventure, and interactive puzzles. It offers young readers an opportunity to join in the detective work and follow the charming duo of Sherlock Bones and Dr. Jane Catson on their thrilling adventures. While it may not have been the absolute best I've encountered, it certainly provides an enjoyable reading experience for middle-grade children.

Great book for a younger audience with the addition of some fun little interactive puzzles throughout. This one will definitely keep the little ones well entertained.

I love Sherlock Bones and this story is lovely and a lot of fun. Lovely illustrations.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine

Perfect for spooky season! This book is a great read with fab illustrations and a variety of puzzles to solve along the way.
I haven't read the previous books in the series but will do now - and you don't have to to enjoy this one. The duo of Bones and Catson is a fun pairing and kids will enjoy their adventures. I really like an interactive element in a book, so the puzzles are great - and will definitely help engage those youngsters who aren't the biggest fans of reading!
This book is great and has everything you need - a captivating story, fun main characters, great illustrations and an exciting interactive element. Highly recommend!

I used to love this type of book when I was a kid and reading Sherlok Bones and the Horror of the Haunted Castle reminded me how much I loved solving mysteries.
The characters and stories are really cute and funny. And I liked the story.
The enigma perfectly illustrated the story and are fun the play with.
I recommend this book for kids or for people who love to solve mysteries

Sherlock Bones and Dr. Carson are hired to investigate a ghost at a kennel (aka castle) in Transylvania.
This one was so fun! It was the first of these I’ve read, but I definitely want to go back and read the other ones! I loved the characters and the story was fun and captivating. It also has fun puzzles for kids to do. This combined my two childhood loves - dogs and mysteries so I think children will love it. I just wish there had been more illustrations because they were so cute!
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for my copy in exchange for an honest review!

This was such a fun read! I love interactive books! A fun cosy read! Ideal for the little detectives during spooky season!

Great mystery story as Sherlock Boens and his partner Catson try to solve the worrying haunting of a castle. This is so reminiscent in style of actual Sherlock Holmes but with the added fun of the characters being mostly dogs. Sherlock Bones and Catson make a great pairing and what was great about this was every chapter has its own puzzles and mysteries for the reader to solve. They don't need to be solved for you to read the story but I can imagine children wanting to read on to get to the next puzzle. I can see this being popular from age 7 upwards but any age primary choldren would enjoy the story

I am a huge fan of the series and have every book of the series in my collection already. I also bought multiple copies of the series to be given to my students as gifts.
It is a very well written story with cute illustrations and engaging puzzles. I have to say though that the mystery can be easily solved as the clues are a bit obvious.
