For the most part, I enjoyed some of the book. However, the ending really spoiled things for me. It felt rushed and unfinished. The other things I didn't enjoy is it felt less psychological horror and held more reflections of feelings of inadequacy as a teen. Some positives, While the FMC's feelings are not mine, I found her actions can be relatable when being an autistic teen/adult. It was also nice and compact, meaning it was finished in a few hours.

I'm still very much of two minds. I liked it, but I also didn't.
I listened to the audio and read the ebook - the narrator held me more because of the "creepy" vibes. She did an excellent job in performing.

I have been reading books outside my normal genres and I have found some gems. Who Haunts You is one of them. This book was super creepy and a perfect start to my October reading. The narrator is amazing and every time the “You found me” line happens it’s just so creeptastic. I got a little confused towards the end but the actual ending was so well done.

I didn't start this audiobook with any idea about the plot or with many expectations, but it surprised me, and in a good way.

The cover, according to me, had a very 'Thirteen Reasons Why' type of vibe to it, and I was ready to DNF it if I found it too long-winded and meandering. Luckily, it was neither of those things.

The plot is about Rebecca (Bex) who is autistic, and not a very popular kid. She keep mostly to herself and volunteers at the library, and is aware that her sister and mom have given up a lot to be able to care for her. However, she's observant, and has a sharp, inquisitive mind, which is why she starts to see a pattern and connection between the deaths of kids at her school, and she's afraid that she's going to be next.

What is the connection between these seemingly unrelated murders, and why do the victims all appear to have gone crazy before they died? Was it something paranormal, or did they drive themselves to their own deaths with their paranoid delusions?

Though the people in her town accept the deaths for what they appear to be (kids gone off the deep end due to academic pressure), Bex knows that it's not that simple or easy. But she's afraid that while trying to uncover the truth, she could be going crazy as well, because suddenly, all that she knows to be true is, somehow, not.

She cannot make sense of it all until her psychiatrist gives her a very important piece of information regarding an experiment in psychology that was conducted many years ago, and the shocking and unprecedented outcome that it had. Which begs the question...is the paranormal something that already exists, or do we sometimes will it into existence?

Just when you think that's it, she's figured it all out, now she just has to prove it by confronting the perpetrator, when BOOM! I did not see that coming. What happens to Bex is quite sad and unexpected, and too harsh a punishment for something that was not done with any malice or forethought. I can't say too much without giving stuff away, and I'm not big on spoilers, so you'll need to read the book yourself and find out, but I do think you will thoroughly enjoy it.

Even though it's meant to be a YA read, I think the subjects are quite appropriate for an adult audience as well. I did quite enjoy listening to this one.

The narrator, Annalee Scott, did a stellar job with the voices, accents, intonations, the creepy whispering and all of that. Loved it!

This book was insane. High school senior Becky is trying to survive high school when 3 of her high school classmates die back to back. Becky while dealing with her mental health is trying to figure out the connection.

Who Haunts You is a quick read and will keep your attention. My only issue is the ending was very rushed. Overall a good book and worth reading though.

An interesting storyline with a protagonist type that I've not seen before - an autistic teenage girl.
This book felt like a race against the clock, as the protagonist watches her fellow schoolmates drop dead, seemingly terrified and running from something unseen, wondering if she's next.
Personally, this book fell apart for me at the end. Yes, there are supernatural bits to the story... probably. But our main character's actions when things "fall into place" for her in her mind and her actions after that... nope. 80% of the story was pulling me along and wanting to find out what was happening and was actually REALISTIC, only to have that thrown out the window in the last couple chapters and have our main character become magical and everything around them all of a sudden NOT realistic.
I was disappointed with this one.

I really enjoyed this story. It was fast paced and kept me wondering the entire time. Very well done!

This was a fun read! Who Haunts You by Mark Wheaton features the store of Bex, a high school student whose classmates begin dying after being haunted... by family members their loved ones say never existed? The story moved quickly, and it wove technology into the student experience in a way that felt realistic to me. I particularly liked that Bex is an autistic main character, which proves to be an asset to her character -- not in a "Rain Man" type of way, but in a "I understand how my own mind works and can think through my own thought processes" sort of way. Toward the end, I kept thinking of Marvel's Moon Knight, which also caused me to question the sanity of various realities. I recommend!

This was an interesting listen. Lots of twist and turns. I enjoyed the descriptions, enough you got the image but not too much to drag. I enjoyed the characters, not any deep developments or growth but really didn't need that for this to be a really fun story. The reveal was interesting however, I hope the ending intended to set up for a follow up as it felt a little unfinished (if it's a teaser I'm good with it.) I also like seeing the neurodivergent represented and the lead no less; fantastic.

Rebecca aka Bex finds some things don't match up when fellow class mates recently die. Were they haunted before they died? Things become more twisted when Rebecca herself starts being haunted by an aunt she swears never existed. But her mother is adamant otherwise. Is this just something to do with her autism or is Rebecca really being haunted?

I loved the concept of this story, but took me until I was almost half way through to get into it. Once Rebecca stated to investigate what may have been going on, found did not get enough information and the ending was wrapped up really quick. Not sure if this is a standalone or being of a series, cause feels like there is so much more than needs to be explained. Wish more had be added to stretch out & explain some things a bit more. Has all the makings for a good YA spooky story, sadly feel flat for me.

I listened to the audiobook version & was a quick listen. Annalee Scott did an amazing job bringing Rebecca to life.

I listened the audiobook and and literally teared up this book is so good I was so intrigued and interested it was my first audiobook and I’m so glad I chose it I will be getting a physical copy the mystery element of this book is amazing 10/10 recommend

Firstly, this was an amazing book and I couldn't stop listening. I loves the narrations and the twists and turns.
Secondly, I loved how there was representation of Nero divergency. This day in and age there is still a huge stigma and the only way to break those stigmas is to bring things to light and talk about them in everyday culture.
Thirdly, I was slightly confused by the ending. I'm not 100% sure who was sending her letters in prison. I'm also not sure why she manifested Holly. She mentioned to "help" her seek revenge. But how?
Overall an amazingly read/listen and it leaves you wanting more!

The book was a psychological - supernatural thriller with a unique plot. Rebecca finding the truth behind her dead classmates make a perfect plot.

The plot made me curious. But the reason for the event wasn't properly explored in the book. This made me have more questions than answers.

I liked Rebecca's character. She was autistic and given proper representation. I also liked the narration by Annalee Scott. She was able to create that dread felt by Rebecca.

The book filled me with incomplete feeling and I think it's better suitable for beginners in this particular genre.

I am confusion????? The narrator was great if a little CREEPY* with that “you found me” business 👀 and it was an incredibly fast read. I’d love a sequel!

As is, I think it’s such a compelling start of a story, but it felt a bit unfinished. It went for shock rather than depth. I wanted more behind the motive and the ending and everything in between. I really enjoyed the mildly unreliable narrator and want to find more books with one.

Also, if you enjoy YA thrillers but dislike that most have a romantic thread woven throughout, definitely check this one out! There was no romance, nor any inkling of it. I, of course, love romance but the lack of it kept the focus on the main character which I enjoyed.

I don’t normally read paranormal YA thrillers, but I may read more of them as well. Despite the title, I was literally surprised she was actually being haunted…or was she??

*I am literally such a wimp so my creepy scale is definitely subjective. I once had my parents stop the movie Sarah Landon and the Paranormal Hour because I was too scared…it was so terribly acted I’m literally spineless that’s the only explanation.

P.S. I’m happy that they gave a more traditional YA thriller cover to the audiobook, as it signaled that part of my brain obsessed with them. Good marketing!

Fantastic book! The audiobook was also incredible! Annalee Scott does such a good job narrating I enjoyed how she’d change up her voice when voicing other characters. She does a wonderful job setting the atmosphere especially when we’re first introduced to the character Holly.

The book follows Rebecca, aka Bex, in her senior year of high school and her discovering connections between her recent classmates death. I loved Bex and how complicated she was as a character. I rooted for her hard in discovering what was happening to her and what had happened to her classmates.

I was never bored in the book thanks to the fast pacing. I loved the mix of supernatural and psychological thriller, it worked so well for this story. I was surprised at the last few chapters between what happens to Bex and what she discovered. It actually shocked me and made me worry for the ending but it turned out great.

The ending was fitting. Initially I was worried I’d be unsatisfied with it but, it was amazing. I need a hard copy of this book on my shelf I liked it that much. Honestly one of the better horror books I’ve read this year (2023). I highly recommend this to anyone who loves thrillers mixed with supernatural horror.

The representation was well written and would be insightful for a young reader unfamiliar with the diagnosis. I thought the premise of the novel was intriguing and many young readers will be able to relate to the idea of adults not believing them even if it's not because they themselves are neurodivergent. Blending this with the idea of supernatural atmospheric vibes of the novel gave it an interesting twist.

I found myself invested in the main character and was really rooting for her to get to the source of all the deaths of her peers at school.

I would definitely recommend this to students and other young readers in my family.

This was one of those what the heck did I just read books in all the best ways. I was trying to figure out all the things. I did not see the twists coming. It was wild. i listened to this audiobook while reading along to the ebook and it definetely helped me get through it! i enjoyed the narrator a lot especially for the ~spooky~ parts she did a good job as the ghost!

my review of the book in general is below:

first off i wanted to say, this book is not my usual genre. i don't really read horror or anything "spooky" but i wanted to try it out and especially because this book had autism rep which i am autistic so i am always looking for more books to read with autistic characters! that being said, i didn't enjoy this book as much as i hoped. it had an interesting concept but in reality i was kind of just left, confused? i wished it hadn't of ended the way it did. it felt very rushed and out of nowhere and i was left with more questions than answers honestly. this book could have benefitted from being a full length novel instead of a shorter book like it was. maybe if you're more into horror you might enjoy this more because i did think some parts were kind of spooky and thrilling, but overall just wasn't the book for me.

Well, this was, yikes, essentially, it’s boring. The first chapter was good, but after that, everything was pretty generic.
As far as the sort of teen killer being hunted by victims, I don’t know. I’ve read and watched 1 million things like this in better ways.

The other production is excellent though, and the piecing is done well
It probably took me three weeks to get through it. I picked it up, put it down, and wouldn’t have finished it, except I needed to turn it in.

The story follows Bex, a senior at a highly competitive high school. When several of her classmates die mysterious deaths, she seems to be the only one noticing connections between the “accidents.” The investigation that follows causes her mental health to spiral…but nothing is as it seems…

The thriller/mystery aspects of the book are great, but what makes this book work, and what makes it unique, is the voice of the narrator. She has autism, and the way she is written is so empathetic and nuanced; we are really put inside her head and come to understand her thought processes. If it weren’t for the thriller elements making this not necessarily for all readers, I would suggest people read this to learn more about neurodivergence. The author manages to inform the reader without it feeling like we are being taught anything. I can’t personally speak to whether it is all accurate, but based on other accounts I have heard or read about, it seemed accurate to at least some people’s experiences.

I will say the ending threw me a little—certain things felt a little out of the blue and a little unsatisfying. As is often the case with mystery/thrillers, the ending is the hardest part. I have seen other reviews where people really loved the ending so it may just be a preference.

This doesn’t read like YA, or at least doesn’t have any of the aspects of YA that people often don’t like.

I had the audiobook and the book. The narration of the audiobook works perfectly for the character.
