Thoughts:
What better way to bring in the spooky season than a story that gives you the absolute heebee jeebees? I had no idea what I was getting into with this one. But after finishing it, it is still on my mind and the chills still go down my spine.
We follow Bex, a high school student on the spectrum, surrounded by classmates obsessed with GPAs, volunteer work, scholarships, and acceptance letters. Bex just wants to finish high school in the shadows with no social imprint, but all of that changes when students are dying back to back. The only connection is that each student that died proclaimed they had relatives that actually didn't exist. Could these ghosts that haunt them be the reason for their deaths? And why now?
This book really played on my fear. The fear of not being believed, the fear of not understanding what you see with your own eyes. Seeing the story play out through Bex’s eyes, with everything she deals with while being autistic, it constantly broke my heart. But the strength behind she shows is inspiring. The story has you constantly doubting her experience. Is she seeing what she says she is? What could possibly be the true and logical explanation for all of this? How could this even happen? So many questions and unbelievable scenes, this story was one mind explosion after the other. What is even reality anymore?
And that ending! Wow! The twist of that is so good, I literally can’t write about it without spoiling it. I get so excited about and I will forever get the creeps when I think back on this book.
Mark Wheaton’s writing style is fantastic. From the beginning, the world building is solid and Bex truly comes to life. Page after page, you slowly find yourself in her shoes, seeing through her eyes. But the narrator, Annalee Scott, is the true MVP. She became Bex. I just loved the way she spoke, the emotion, the singing! Even when she read as the ghosts, I literally shivered. She is by far the best narrator I have ever heard since I started to listen to audiobooks. She is absolutely amazing.
I highly recommend this book. Especially for this upcoming spooky season. Four star read!

I really enjoyed this book and the main character, Bex. It's creepy and has some turns you don't see coming. It was a quick listen- did it in one setting. A great way to get off the fall spooky vibe. Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for an ARC.

What an interesting concept. I enjoyed the story but wanted the ending to be something different. The reader did a good job.

Interesting psychological thriller that wrapped up in a strange way. I found myself a bit confused, and reread the last few chapters. I did like that it was not super predictable but I did predict in a way what happened.

Who Haunts You by Mark Wheaton is a riveting mystery/thriller/horror/YA book. It is about Bex Koeltl, a high school senior who was on the Austism Spectrum and is just trying to make it to graduation. When her classmates started dying, Bex found connections between the dead students and that each was hallucinating the ghost of a non-existent deceased relative. When Bex experienced visits from her own deceased relative, she knew that she needed to solve the mystery of what happened to her classmates quickly or she might be next.
This book grabbed me and kept me riveted from the first chapter. This was my first book.by this author, and I had no idea what to expect. I was very impressed. He dealt out the facts of these strange events in such a way that he kept me on the hook all the way to the very end. I didn’t know entirely what had happened until the end either. I found the book to be very neurodiversity positive, which engaged me further in the story. It was a pretty good example of how much pressure is put on high school students,in some schools, to have the most successful high school experience in order to prepare for their post high school graduation plans. I listened to this book in audio form and found the narrator did an excellent job narrating this story through the eyes of a neurodivergent teen. This method of storytelling was particularly effective in audio form since the reader followed Bex through the book learning each new facts when she did. I would recommend this book for readers who love YA Horror/Psychological Thrillers. If audiobooks are your jam, then this is a book with an audiobook that is well worth the listen. I give this audiobook 4.5 starts. I am voluntarily submitting this honest review after listening to an advanced complementary copy of this audiobook thanks to Netgalley.

A quick and fun YA thriller!
While I'm starting to feel like the high achieving high school thrillers are getting a bit oversaturated, I really enjoyed that this one came from a neurodiverse MC. It made the book unique and more interesting to me.
Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.m

WHO HAUNTS YOU immediately grabbed me. I found the central mystery of this creepy, thoughtful book so enthralling that I ended up reading the whole thing in one sitting. Readers will find the twist ending extremely satisfying--with a genuine pay-off that will put you in mind of writers like Blake Crouch and Stephen King.

A really interesting idea, but felt a little rushed around the ending.
It’s awesome to see some autistic representation in a main character. That’s such a rare thing! In this case, she wasn’t cast in a problematic light either, which is even more rare! Well lol not problematic based on the autism anyways lol. We had ghosts, nightmares, spooky mixed up memories, a whole collection of potentially nightmare inducing weirdness.
The main focus of the story was memory. How memories can be manipulated to make you believe things happened a different way, or that people either did or didn’t exist…… I’ve seen how memories can be affected by other people, simply by one person remembering things in a different way. Imagine being the only person to remember reality your way, and everyone and everything tries to convince you otherwise. How badly would that mess with your brain?! Really great concept.

I enjoyed this novel as an audiobook. Annalee Scott has a wonderfully pleasant voice. Her reading breathes life into all the characters. She was also able to capture the creepiness well and really pulled out everything she could by whispering and hissing. That techniques gets your attention fast!
Who Haunts You is a fast paced Young adult supernatural thriller. Bex (Rebecca) is an autistic high school senior. She is obsessed with grades and class rankings. Her own GPA and class rank leaves a lot to be desired but you can tell she’s smart and has goals in life.
Bex is on the outside looking into the lives of those around her. Then some of her fellow students die, but she senses there’s something off about their deaths. For this reason, Bex begins her own investigating. What she discovers seems bizarre, such as each of the dead students suddenly being obsessed over a perceived unknown family member. And then Bex begins experiencing some of the same bizarreness. Is she the next to die?
The story has a nice pace but, I will say the ending seemed a little abrupt. Just a tiny complaint.
The book would translate well as a movie and Annalee Scott needs to add her voice to the production.
I highly recommend What Haunts You.

Bex is a high school senior whose classmates are dying under strange circumstances. After a ghostly visit, Bex fears she could be the next victim. If she doesn’t get to the bottom of the mystery surrounding the possible murders of her fellow seniors she might not make it to graduation…
The audio narration by Annalee Scott was fantastic. Annalee gave distinct voices to the characters along with great emotion and inflection.
I generally love horror, I can enjoy YA. I am not the target audience, but I like to find books that I think my daughter would like.
So I figured I would check out Who Haunts You. The audiobook cover looked very much like current YA books, and much better than the digital copy cover. I feel like on a shelf side by side the audio cover would be more intriguing.
This book is well written with a neurodivergent main character, Bex. There is a focus on her family dynamics, and how they handle her reaction to the deaths of her classmates. The horror aspect is unnerving and eerie enough for someone starting to read the genre, especially for the target audience.
For me the ending was a bit too convoluted, but there were some important things this novel was saying.
Thanks for the opportunity to read and respond to this book.

This book was fantastic. And the narrator of the audiobook, phenomenal. Absolutely phenomenal.
I love this story because it adds layer upon layer to what you thought you knew and has your mind just thrown left and right.
A story about strange deaths of multiple members of the senior class, are they related? Were they mental breakdowns, supernatural interference, just sad coincidences, murder? And why???
I blew through the audiobook in under a day, I couldn't stop listening.

What did I just read? When one death happens, sure it looked a bit off but people die and there isn't always a reason. Then there's a second death where there were also weird circumstances days leading up to it. It's that third death that makes you think, what is going on? Why would no one else find three deaths in rapid succession weird?
Only one person finds it all weird. And I will say I was pleasantly surprised by autistic representation that was carefully done with her character. While I didn't quite like the ending and hoe things went down, I found this a breath of fresh air in this genre.
This is a perfect spooky season read with all the necessary vibes.

This was a very enjoyable YA horror book with some decent autistic representation. The horror mystery was really compelling so I flew through this story.
I would recommend this one to a teenage reader but as an adult I will attest that it had some all ages appeal.
Disclaimer I received a copy of this book from the publisher.

Thank you to the publishers, author and NetGalley for the free copy of this audio book.
This one definitely gripped me from the start and did not let go! Loved the twists and spooky feel. The narrator was amazing for this!

A twisty tale revolving around the investigation into the deaths of 3 high school classmates. The main character is Autistic by admission and gets drawn into the mystery of what happened. Fantastic YA read that was a bit of mystery, thriller and paranormal. Just when you think you know what is going to happen, you are given another twist, all the way to the end.

Thank you NetGalley and Mark Wheaton for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.
Who Haunts You by Mark Wheaton is about Rebecca, a high school senior, who like everyone in their high school is obsessed with everyone's class rank. However, the obsession shifts when fellow seniors end up dead after talking about a relative they didn't actually have. Now Rebecca is beginning to see a relative of her own and realizes that she needs to figure out how to stop this before she is the next victim.
This short YA Horror Thriller was great! Especially as an audiobook! The narrator did the ghostly voices in an amazing and creepy way. I enjoyed every second of this book. It was just right to get into the spooky season.
I also appreciated the main character and the autism representation. (I do not have autism and can not speak on the quality of the representation but I have noticed YA books have become more inclusive in the recent year.) The way she was shown in relation to her family is relatable to anyone who is neurodivergent, whose family tends to act differently around them.
Overall, I really enjoyed this novel and would recommend it to anyone young adult or older who is looking for a good thriller.

let's start that I listened to this as a audiobook. And the audio book is amazing and very well done. overall the story was enjoyable. I loved the main characters and that she had autism that was very well done. the novel is fast paced and easy to follow the vibes of this book was amazing very creepy. a really good read for in the fall season (halloween) the book is short I had a feeling that everything happens so quickly what makes it sometimes hard to follow of what just happend. also I wasn't the biggest fan if the ending and would loved to have seen something different. but a three star rating is still a very good rating. and I would recommand this book to others

Spooky Season is here and this book delivers! This super natural thriller has it all and leaves you wondering about your own sanity. It’s a well written young adult novel that holds your attention from page one and an ending you don’t see coming.
Thank you Netgalley for this advance audio version copy. The audiobook was enjoyable and easy to listen to. I loved it!

3.5 ★ maybe ? I don’t know yet.
This was my :
- first audiobook
- first horror/thriller book
and honestly I was pleasantly surprised ! I was spooked (like a lot) when listening to it at night.
It was a quick book and I found the representation of autism really interesting. I honestly had a great time with this audiobook and I would recommend it.
However I think this is not my type of book in the sense that I don’t read a lot (if any) of thriller/horror so i’m not used to it at all, hence the rating I guess.
Thank you so much to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for providing me this ALC in exchange for an honest review !!
