Really enjoyed this graphic novel. It does make you wonder about what the government is hiding, doesn't it?
Absolutely ridiculous and incredibly fun novella. Easy to read and difficult to put down, this new take on the zombie apocalypse will entertain readers who have become bored with the genre.
I enjoyed this book. It’s funny how it was able to stick with me. I started reading this book Back in Oct, got away from reading for quite some time yet I still had this book with me when I picked it back up to finish it.
It was a lot of fun: well written, witty, and a sort of comic horror that made me laugh and kept on the edge
Can't wait to read other books by this author
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine
I'll have admit, the title of the book was what drew me in but also perplexed me. Zombies and cheese? How would that work? But let me tell you, it definitely did. This novella reminds me of the movie Zombieland with the action packed parts mixed in with humor. You meet a few people along the way that Nadia and Gabby meet, Howell, Junior, Carla and Allen. Howell is my favorite for what he said to Nadia about her and how he wants to make sure she gets back to Gabby. Overall a great, fast paced, short read that will leave you on the edge of your seat.
The Good: Such a fun read! The humorous bits kept me engaged and wanted to continue reading. Fast paced and action packed, you'll read this in one sitting.
The Meh: Nothing. But maybe a few more pages? I wouldn't have minded that.
Thank you to @netgalley and @ericwilliford for sending me the ARC for this one!
This book delivers a unique blend of romance, humor, and post-apocalyptic chaos that is as heartwarming as it is hilarious. In this inventive twist on the zombie genre, Gabby and Nadia's love story takes center stage amidst the chaos of a cheese-infested apocalypse. The novel skillfully navigates the challenges of their relationship while showcasing their resilience and love for each other. The portrayal of diverse characters and relationships adds depth to the story, making it a standout in the genre.
The fusion of culinary aspirations, quirky survivor dynamics, and a sprinkle of zombie horror creates a captivating narrative that keeps readers engaged from start to finish. The author masterfully blends the absurd with the heartfelt, resulting in a rollercoaster of emotions that leaves you rooting for Gabby and Nadia's love to triumph over both the undead and the odds stacked against them.
Okay, so, I’m giving this four stars simply for the audacity of the premise. This debut novella reads like a screenplay (which the author’s note confirms it was originally).
I would watch the HELL out of this as a movie. It would be an instant camp horror classic. The mix of lesbians, zombies, trump-esque political insanity, MAGA morons, racial tensions - all in like 57 pages.
Is this great classic literature? No. Not even close. But is it incredibly entertaining? Yes. Yes it is.
Okay, buckle up because The Dead Ate Cheese is the zaniest zombie book that'll have you laughing so hard you might just snort some soda out of your nose (yep, speaking from experience here!). Imagine this: the world's gone totally zombie apocalypse mode, but wait for it – it's the cheese-filled kind! And the icing on the cake? Gabby and Nadia, the coolest lesbian couple ever, have to deal with this mozzarella madness while keeping their love sizzling.
If you're into love stories that are as gooey as a pizza slice and a zombie apocalypse that's cheesier than a rom-com marathon, this book's for you. Seriously, it's like combining your favorite late-night movie cravings into one wild ride. And let's not forget, Gabby's dream of becoming a top chef is on the line – New York City, here we come! So grab this book, prepare for a lot of laughs and heart squeezes, and let's dive into the messiest apocalypse ever!
I got this book for review from netgalley.
It was an entertaining zombie apocalypse type story that has similar vibes to the genre as a whole but that was created by cheese. Wasn't completely invested in the characters but an interesting twist to the zombie apocalypse.
