Murder, magic, secrets and an evil council of leaders? Sign me up! This is the second book in a series and I wish I had heard about the series before reading this one. It is definitely one I'm going to look into adding to my shelf in the future. Thank you!
I can’t remember much of this tbh, i had fun reading it but it was memorable in the long run. Would read other works by this author
This was the second book in a series and equally as enjoyable, it did not disappoint.
It was well written, descriptive, magical and really easy to read. I just wanted the story to keep going.
It's a 10 out of 10 for me ! I don't usually read the sequel of saga (weird I know) because I don't especially want to know what's gonna happen next. It was absolutely not possible with this one. And I loved the second book even better than the first ! The love story is more present and it was so sweet. The investigation is different but as thrilling as is the first book. The fantasy is more present, more developped.
Just go read this saga !
Thank you so much to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with this ARC!
This was a great sequel! Even though I guessed the villain earlier on in the book, it was still exciting to see how they would catch them!
With the second book in the series, Erin Beaty has claimed her place on my auto buy author list.
Erin manages to PERFECTLY marry a fantasy world with a thriller plot. She creates characters you are there for every step of the way! It's been days since I finished this book and I still think about the characters and would happily read an entire series based on this cast! Like honestly (PLEASE MAKE MORE)
The magic, the chemistry between the characters and the detective element had me turning page after page. Whilst murder is nothing new in a fantasy world, the way Erin has approached the solving of these crimes is utterly refreshing and engaging. Think Sherlock Holmes crossed with FBI behavioural tactics!
Again from this author, I’ve read the previous book and I actually really really liked this. I read one and went straight into binging the next book. It was fun. It was cool it was fantastical and I just generally really like this book. I would 100% recommend as the couple of fun story and plot line is solid and kept me intrigued throughout The whole book
4/5 stars! I loved the first book in this series, so I was ecstatic to get a chance to read the sequel. First off, the cover was BEAUTIFUL. Simon and Cat have insane chemistry for a YA story and the detective angle was as refreshing and exciting in the sequel as the first story. I did find a few moments in the story to feel a bit underdeveloped/immature, but considering it's geared toward teen readers, it's understandable.
I received an advance review copy for free through NetGalley, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Silence and Shadow opened with immediate drama from returning partners Simon and Catrin. This is a sequel so to understand the system, characters, and general plot it is best to read Blood and Moonlight first.
Simon and Cat are in a new place with a new murderer on the loose just asking to get caught by the pair. After posing as a married couple, the two are now going into academia! It was a good read but the murder mystery was solved very quickly.
I think the entire magic system was explored more in Silence and Shadow rather than it being a subplot like in the first book.
Overall it was a good sequel but it didn’t grip me all the way through. It definitely felt like there were similarities between this and Hunting Prince Dracula where Audrey and Thomas go to Romania to study Forensic Medicine but there is a killer on the loose.
Erin Beaty wrote another good book and I look forward to seeing what she writes in the future!
Thank you for the eARC!
