"I was nineteen when I discovered my boyfriend's father was a serial killer."
The prologue of this book excited me a lot, but unfortunately despite the fact that the story itself is very good and the book has some impressive twists, I can not let go that I feel that it was unnecessarily too long, extending a lot in the growth of a relationship between the protagonists, which as a reader and lover of thrillers I did not like, and it made me want to skip some parts, looking to focus more on the story of the murderer. If it were not for the previous point, my rating would have been much higher, because the plot is captivating, tense, exciting, and the POV of the serial killer was phenomenal. Despite my criticism of the prolongation of the romantic part between the protagonists, I ended up shipping them anyway. The beginning, end, and parts told from the murderer's point of view are remarkable and make me glad I read the book.
Thank you to #NetGalley, #Boldwood Books and Keri Beevis for the opportunity to read an advance copy of Every Little Breath, to be published 24 September 2023. This was a scary and freaky novel about a sadistic serial murderer. The prologue begins like a how to manual. It gets creepier from there as the protagonist lives through many years of different relationships with men in her life. She is a radio disc jockey who enjoys her work until she begins to get calls from a threatening listener. It was particularly difficult to read the parts which described the sadist’s activities. If you like creepy, scary and freaky, this is a book you won’t want to miss. 4/5 Stars #NetGalley #EveryLittleBreath #BoldwoodBooks #KeriBeevis
Oh my gosh, this story was freaking fabulous. Casey stumbled upon her boyfriend Gareth’s father with a victim tied up in a creepy bunker underneath an outbuilding and she barely escaped. Luckily, she was able to save the girl, and Gareth’s father was arrested and put on trial. Against all logic, Gareth and his family were angry with her for her actions! Seriously, it’s not like there was no evidence and she was just suspicious, she literally caught him in the act and they held it against her! Ugh, good riddance to that family.
The story shifts to the present timeframe 15 years later when Casey begins to get threats at the radio station where she works. She can’t believe someone could be after her for revenge as so much time has passed. Gareth took his own life years ago, and the remainder of the family moved away. Why would someone be angry with her in the first place and why now? Except for the obvious trust issues she’s dealt with, she’s happy with a new job, great friends, and a new apartment. And now this weird listener is threatening to take a life if she doesn’t solve his riddle and find the victim in time. Is this just a sick fan who heard about her past or is someone determined to punish her for catching a serial killer?
The way the story flows, you don’t expect there to be any surprises per se, but this one got me good! It takes some ingenious plotting to pull this off and I just loved it. There are literally no words to describe it. All I can say is to hold on until the very last page and you will not be disappointed! This story is a prime example of how talented this author is. I love her writing and I don’t even have to read a summary of any new book, I just automatically know I have to have it!
When Casey Fallon acted as a star witness at the trial of a serial killer over a decade and a half ago, she thought that would be the hardest thing she'd ever have to face. She was wrong.
Because it wasn't over - even though she was the one who had brought the brutal killer of 5 women to justice. A man who just happened to be mild-mannered Steve Noakes, the father of Casey's boyfriend at the time. Steve's son Gareth was the one who should have been setting off all kinds of red flags - and for Casey, he did.
Possessive and domineering, Gareth's behaviour led Casey to break up with him. But in the process of looking for him in order to do so, she found a woman - tied up, battered and bloody - in the house that Steve and Gareth were supposed to be renovating. While Steve faced a trial, a furious Gareth failed to locate Casey after his father's arrest, and subsequently walked into the sea.
Cut to today. After Casey receives a bizarre call on the late night radio show she hosts, she initially thinks it's some kind of sick joke. But when a dead woman is found, and the caller informs Casey that the woman's death is her fault for contacting the police, it turns out that someone is very serious indeed. And that very same someone intends to punish Casey for her previous actions...
This story starts with an incredibly creepy prologue where you are told by a serial killer how to be a serial killer! The rest of the book does not disappoint, either.
The story moves quickly and it is a gripping read, though a pretty dark one. There is a little romance tucked in alongside all the darkness, and as a protagonist, Casey is easy to like and to relate to. Recommended to those who enjoy serial killer stories, in particular.
Thank you, NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the copy of Every Little Breath by Keri Beevis. This book started out great! I wasn’t a fan of the juvenile romance/love scenes, and the book would have been stronger without them. I had to skip the parts that were too painful and graphic to read and that detailed women being brutalized. If you’re looking for a creepy book with the Killer’s POV, this is for you! But it IS creepy and scary, so be warned.
I loved this book, I could NOT put this down!! This was so good. Addicting, fast-paced, twisted and had my jaw on the floor multiple times. New favourite author!
Every Little breath

A radio DJ is tormented by a twisted killer who has a gruesome request in Every Little Breath by Keri Beevis.
Casey was nineteen when she discovered her boyfriend’s father was a serial killer. She stumbled upon his latest victim tied up in the basement of the house he was renovating. Her evidence helped convict him to life in prison.
Gareth, her boyfriend, never forgave her for turning against his dad and took his own life a couple of years later. That was fifteen years ago.
Now, Casey is a local evening radio presenter, but it seems she can’t escape her past; a caller wants her to solve a puzzle, and the deadly games begin.
The story started out interesting and seemed fairly fast-paced, then it got a bit slow in parts and took a bit to get to the real suspense. I figured out the Gareth plot right from the start. It was also hard to believe the characters didn't know the culprit's identity and connect the dots or that they never met the culprit. I felt like I really had to stretch my imagination on that plot and reveal.
The story did have good twists, nonetheless, and I did like the ending.
Overall, Every Little Breath is a good story and one I would recommend.
