A cute, succinct biography on Steve Irwin for kids! It did a great job at telling the life story of a man who captured the world's attention and gained its love. I'm not sure if it was intentional that they skipped over the nature of his death but the authors made sure to end it on a strong thematic note of his legacy.
Thank you to Frances Lincoln Children's Books and to NetGalley for an ARC of this book.
This series of books are amazing, and this one is no exception. Steve Irwin was a wonderful man, and his wife, Terri, and children, Bindi and Robert are wonderful as well.
This book highlights Steve's love of animals and conservation, which was truely the mission of his life.
I also love the illustrations in this book.
Simply beautiful!
I've read a ton of books from the 'Little People, Big Dreams' series, and usually they are smashing! However, I was left super disappointed with this book. I just don't feel like they did Steve Irwin justice. It didn't really say much - it felt very generic, and they didn't mention anything about his tragic accident of a death. I appreciate this is a children's book, but I still feel like it should have been included in some shape of form within the book.
The moment I saw the title and book cover, I know it's gonna be good and I love Steve Irwin so much. The illustrations inside the book are lovely. Its message is important and it can inspire the children to love and care for the animals and wildlife.
These books are excellent, they all have important messages and manage to communicate them to children without terrifying them. My daughters particular favourites have been Emmeline Pankhurst and Rosa Parks. This has references to conservation and caring for our world along with some gorgeous illustrations. Another great addition to the series.
Thanks to NetGalley for providing this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This was so cute! I've read a few of these now but there's certain people that when you see them on the cover you have to read it, and Steve is one of them. Though not a long book as its aimed at children I really liked that this book focused on the animals and wildlife that he loved so much.
I love Steve Irwin so, so much. When I saw this book, I just had to request it. My mom is an elementary school librarian and we read this together and she is definitely going to snag a copy for her library. It’s so cute and informative for the intended age group.
My kids and I just adore these books. My oldest was the biggest Steve Irwin fan and he actually sat down and listened to me read this to his little sisters. It was just a lovely moment for me and our family. Thank you for books like these.
I enjoyed reading this with my daughter. I grew up with Steve Irwin and she’s growing with his kids. Love the info and the illustration.
It was lovely a very nice tribute to Steve Irwin and both myself and my kids loved it. The illustration was also very good. I think this book will be well received and a joy to read for adults and children alike
What an adorable book! I imagine most adults will smile when they see this one and enjoy sharing it with the children in their lives. This is a sweet, positive look at Steve Irwin's conservation work. The illustrations are lovely and extremely detailed. I could see a child spending so much time finding little surprises tucked into the drawings on each page.
We love the little people big dreams book and Steve is one of my favourite people so when I saw this book I knew I had to read it to my kids.
We all loved it. As always the story is cute and the illustrations are great.
Highly recommend for all crocodile hunter fans.
