Feeling tippy? Out of shape? Ready to pop that snack into your mouth?
Why not do a day of chair yoga instead? The simple exercises are explained and well-illustrated. From how to choose your seat to how much effort to invest, you'll gain flexibility, balance, and confidence - whether you're an out-of-shape 40-something or a senior trying to get more fit.
This book offers some great exercise tips. I definitely will try to implement some of these routines into my life.
I cannot believe how late I am to this review! I made a Zen Room where I do so many of these exercises! I may not be over 60, but I fit into several of the medical categories and it is so amazing to show to my physical therapist and to have her tell me to do so many of these suggestions!
I am so grateful for this book!
Thank you to #NetGalley and #UmaDevi for the advanced copy to read in exchange for a fair and honest review.
I like the idea of this book. It is nicely done with easy to follow instructions. If I were better at following instructions in a book, this would be perfect; however, I need to have someone doing the moves with me.
The first half of this book deals with the philosophy of yoga. It talks about the different branches of yoga, way of life with yoga and it's vocabulary. I was more interested in the exercises themselves, and once I found them I was happy to see they were well illustrated and explained. The routines are very beneficial and the fact you don't need to get down on the floor (not a problem) is a plus. Getting up is the challenge. Shorter 10 minute routines are perfect.

Well done. Good info and suggestions with a nice layout. Recommended.
I really appreciate the free copy for review!!
I found this book to be quite helpful. Not only does it give a solid background about yoga, provide recommendations regarding equipment and so forth, it gives a helpful guide for exercises that can be performed without getting on the floor. I am not yet sixty years old, but have some orthopedic issues that make it difficult for me get up and down from the floor. Therefore, I was excited to get my hands on this book and look forward to utilizing this workout.
Thank you to NetGalley for this copy.
Chair Yoga for Seniors over 60 by Uma Devi is a great resource with detailed instructions and illustrations. It's a wonderful book to guide Seniors in their exercise in a safe and effective way. I received this complimentary copy of this book that I will refer to ofter on my health journey.
A big thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for the eARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. I had a difficult time reading this book on my kindle. I could not get the font to enlarge and the font was a 7 or something-super tiny. Also there were no photographs or drawings in my version. I am not sure if it was supposed to have them, but I think it would be very beneficial. Otherwise you are always having to look at the instructions. Maybe my ebook did not load properly. 2.5 stars
Chair Yoga for Seniors Over 60 by Uma Devi was Excellent and so simple to understand and use. This book will enhance Your Quality of Life in Just 10 Minutes a Day and has a good Illustrated Guide, with Step-by-Step Gentle Exercises for Pain-Free Mobility, This book is also good for your balance, and Mental Clarity.
I really enjoyed using this book and was great as I could sit in my chair doing it while I watch my Television.
It would be also a great book for your job role if you are an activities coordinator working the the Health care.
A great started book for seniors to start a bit of activity while in a sitting position for less strain on their bodies… excellent
This is an informative and practical title for yoga students. Introducing seniors to yoga asana plus its history and then going through a chair yoga routine could be very beneficial for someone trying this on their own or trying to continue a practice they discovered through a local senior center or YMCA class.
What a great book! However I preface this review by agreeing with others in that a physical copy of this book would be preferable for those wishing to follow the exercises properly. I'm afraid my tablet did no favours as the format wasn't quite right and some exercises spread across two pages. But the content is excellent and I found the exercises to be very doable- I was not so interested in the first part detailing the background to Yoga but it was well written and of interest to many I'm sure. Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for the chance to read and review Chair Yoga for over 60's, although I am only just 60!.
The first half of the book provides a lot of information on yoga; the history and the benefits of yoga for those interested. For me, I just wanted to learn the movements/exercises along with the proper technique and form.
I suggest getting this book in a physical format. On the Kindle the formatting of the exercises was hard to read and follow along. The first page showed the name of the exercise, the second page contained pictures, and the third page provided the directions. Once you got to the directions you could no longer see the photos for reference. I also found the photos to be unclear at times. It was hard to distinguish the movements being shown.
I received a complimentary copy of this book via Netgalley. Opinions expressed in this review are my own opinions.
I begin this review by stating I'm not 60 and overs. I am, however, 39 with multiple sclerosis, and I feel like I can give a proper review.
I did these chairs exercises for 7 days and feel as though they are really nice. I didn't know I could do things like the warrior pose with a chair, and I'll be honest, I felt powerful.
Highly recommend.
Thank you very much for the chance to read and review this book.
My mum has been very unwell this last year and we were looking to get her back moving in ways that are achievable for her. We very much enjoyed sitting together and going through this book, and we found plenty of moves ranging from beginner to more advanced. This book was very informative with clear pictures and concise explanations for the moves shown; I would say this book is accessible for anyone thinking of trying chair yoga, not just for seniors!
If you are new to yoga the first half of the book will give you a lot of information. The second half has the actual exercises. I was wanting something to supplement my weekly yoga class and this book did give me some good options. However, the formatting was strange on my tablet. It took three pages for one exercise. The first page was only the name of the exercise, the second page was a picture, and the third page was directions. It would have been easier if it was all on one page.
Thanks to BooksGoSocial and NetGalley for a complimentary copy. The opinions expressed are my own.
Thank you for a Read Now copy of this book. I have been interested in chair yoga for a while and this provided me with an understanding and how to for me to begin. This was a wonderful resource. Thank you again Net Galley.

As a person who has practiced yoga for decades (and more recently, tried chair yoga), I found this book to be informative, well organized and a useful tool in the practice of yoga. It is probably best for those who are familiar with yoga, so I’d rate it 3.5 stars. I’d love to hear an audiobook version! That would be a great addition.
