I think that many of us are susceptible to the allure of an effective ten minutes a day. This book promises that around the practice of yoga. However, before getting to the routines, there is much to learn about in this title. There are chapters on everything from How to Read this Book in the introduction, to chapters on a History of Yoga, Getting Started, For a Safe Practice and, the poses. There are many routines including those focusing on particular parts of the body, strength and power, calming down and more. There are a number of breathing techniques and 12 helpful sequences for specifics such as diabetes,Parkinson’s and balance.

So, this book is worth much more than ten minutes. It offers a chance to ease some aches and pains along with many other benefits. The author is a good guide. Directions are clear with photos of the positions. Readers will be inspired to attain some of yoga’s storied benefits, no matter their age.

Many thanks to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for this title. All opinions are my own.

First off, I'm not yet 60yrs old, however, I enjoy doing chair yoga on the days in between my more strenuous gym days. I feel many people, not just people over 60, could benefit from this book. We all know by now, that the key to longevity is constant motion/movement, so chair yoga gives us a nice low intensity exercise to do just that!! I found all the instructions easy to follow and really enjoyed doing them!!

I highly recommend giving this book a try....it's an easy way to incorporate exercise that's fun so you don't feel like your doing exercise at all!! That kind of exercise can easily become a habit and benefit your overall health.

Chair Yoga for Seniors Over 60 by Uma Devi. When going down on the floor not to mention not being able to get up off the floor is no longer an option, these yoga routines are beneficial. Different types of Yoga and breathing styles are discussed. The various types of movements and breathing exercises are listed under health issues. Have tried a few of the exercises and they were helpful in easing back and hip pain. A valuable resource.

Thank you to the author, BooksGoSocial, and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.

I'm just turning 60...I have been interested in yoga and the thought of chair yoga appeals to me. The amount of information in this book is great. However I would need to be constantly looking at the book to read the directions for the poses. I feel that would be counterproductive in the relaxation element. I think I would benefit from an audio visual for this activity. I'm ready to sign up for a class :)

I think this is a vey helpful book. I am pretty active but have some issues with my hands and wrists so a lot of normal yoga poses don't work well or me and this book definitely gave me some alternatives that I hadn't really considered.

Really well written, good information & history. Detailed descriptions & illustrations. The 10-minute daily routines are fantastic & you can rotate the flows to keep from getting bored. Particular, attention is paid to specific health issues with flows that would be beneficial for people suffering from them. My only suggestion would be to drop the "for seniors over 60" (or update it) portion of the title to be less specific. I do a normal Yoga flow every week, but I have knee issues that occasionally flare up in prevent me from doing some of the floor moves. When a flare-up occurs, Chair Yoga is an excellent alternative. This would also be great for anybody who is suffering any sort of a disability or injury that would prevent them from doing traditional Yoga. Other than that, this book is a great resource.

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for giving me this eARC to read.

I want to preface that I am not 60 or over, I am 23 but I am disabled so a lot of exercises I cannot do as I can collapse.

This book doesn't just show the yoga poses (which have nice photos where some have drawings on them to show the movement) but it also dives into what yoga is, where chair yoga originated, any equipment that could help, safety measures, tips/do's and don'ts for conditions such as blood pressure, athritis, diabetes, parkinsons and more. There are breathing techniques and sequences you can follow.

I would recommend this to anyone with mobility issues, people who sit down a lot for work, people over 60 and people who want to incorporate more yoga into their life!

Being over 60 and loving Yoga I found this book quite good. As we age we sometimes can't do all the things we did even 5 years ago so I found this a great way to adjust some of the poses I can no longer do.

All the poses are easy to follow and the instructions are very easy to understand. There are plenty of poses to try and the breathing exercises I loved as I need them as we all probably do. Also enjoyed learning a bit about the history and different styles of yoga as well as the illustrations really help when trying to work out if you are doing it porperly.

A great book and one I will use well into the future.

Thank you NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

Even in the few days I have been using this book I have noticed a difference. The illustrations are great, it is so much easier to see if you are doing the right position. I have practiced the breathing exercises with family and they have asked if we can do them on a regular basis so everyone is benefiting. We need to buy a hard copy of this book.

A complete guide to the different types of yoga and its history, as well as its recommendations on behaviour. And that was only the beginning of the book, which is the most comprehensive guide I have ever read. Highly recommended.
