I truly enjoyed. I expected another story about a missing child but this was so much more. The story follows a single mother who finds out someone has put a missing ad on social media about her son, despite the fact that he is not missing. Woven into the story is that she is haunted by an incident in her past and having nightmares about this. It was not what I expected and I was pleasantly surprised. I did predict the perpetrator and that is my only complaint. Thank you to Netgalley and Boldwell books for the arc read in exchange for
my honest review.
Ruby's books are easy and keep you gripped. I flew through this book in a day.
There are some heartbreaking scenes in the book which are handled really well. I really warmed to Ellie’s character, she was so endearing. I didn't predict the ending, had it completely wrong as always.
Quite possibly my favourite Ruby Speechley book.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book was a really good thriller that sometimes made me hold my breath which is something I love when it comes to thrillers.
I liked how the book felt very real and as a mother to two it was easy to relate to the mothers feeling and scares during a few scenes.
In real life there are a lot of missing person posts on Facebook and just like in this story some has been proven to be false for various reasons.
For me this was an quick read since I really didn't wanted to put this book down until it was finished because it is so good.
If you are looking for a realistic thriller that contains a mother and a child where the mother is trying to do everything to keep her child safe then this is for you.
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for letting me read this amazing thriller.
TW: non-consent sex and spouse abuse.
I have mixed feelings about this book, I did enjoy it but Elle as a character drove me mad! Some of her reactions were just daft, if I was her I would have straight down to the police station. How can so much misery happen to one woman!
It was a good drama with plenty of surprises though and it certainly kept me reading.
I could not put this down! It had me hooked from the start and had a bit of absolutely everything in. It's so much more than just a thriller, it's setting in the world today and discussing relevant issues also shows the impact of the Internet and such. It is a bit dark but then again, bad things do happen in the world so it's still entirely chilling. I loved the characters and the growth shown, the entire book is just amazing
**TRIGGER WARNING** Rape. Sexual Assault.
Single mum Ellie is shown a missing person post on Facebook. It's of her three-year=old son, Tyler. Nut he's right here holding her hand. Surely this is some kind of prank - she knows her friend Louise can go too far with her jokes sometimes. And Ellie is used to other mums gossiping at the school gates. But now the parents are questioning whether Tyler us really her child. Ellie does everything she can to prove the post is fake, but the longer it goes on she knows it is malicious. Who would do this to her? And why?
I was pulled in from the first page. Only the need for sleep made me put this book down. This is a tense, twisted, suspenseful and thrilling read. There are some heartbreaking scenes. The characters are well developed and I really liked Ellie, she was quite sweet. The book shows how the internet can ruin people's lives with just a few clicks. I did nt know who I could trust or believe.
I would like to thank #NetGalley #BoldwoodBooks and the author #RubySpeechly for my ARC of #Missing in exchange for an honest reveiw.
A fairly good read. I didn't get into it as much as some of her other books. A fairly good read. I didn't get into it as much as some of her other books.
Ellie is a mother who is raising three-year-old Tyler all by herself. Several pre-school mothers already dislike her, but when she is shown a missing child photo claiming to be her son, things escalate. Tyler has been by her side the whole time. Surely, it's a mistake, or is it a warning? Ellie is aware that the threats are getting worse, and she needs to find answers before her son is in real danger.
The reading was a rollercoaster, showing the internet's strength and how it can ruin lives with just a few clicks. The author addresses serious issues, including rape and sexual assault. I think the author did a good job handling this and fitting it into the story. The writing was fantastic, and I finished the story in just a few days. I was hooked and couldn't put this down. Ellie's life took a turn for the worse with every chapter, bringing new horrifying twists and turns. The writer did an excellent job developing the characters, especially Ellie. I was constantly imagining how I would react if I were in her situation. I'm excited to see what the author writes next.
Twisty, tense, thrilling and utterly un-put-downable! I was immediately sucked into this story and barely took a break until the very end. Ruby Speechley has quickly become one of my favorite authors and I know you will thoroughly enjoy this as much as I did!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for this ARC!
A highly addictive read.
When Elle/Ellie is confronted with accusations that she's hiding something, spurred on by a fake police poster that implies her son is missing (when he's right where he should be) - she has more than distrusting mums in the playground to deal with... she has to face what happened to her that night she stayed at an Airbnb 4 years ago.
Her ex denies he's the father of Tyler, but who else could it be? She was faithful, as far as she knows... Although, that was back when she was drinking a lot, so she could have blacked out. And then there's that nightmare with the clown mask... did something happen to her?
She can't dwell on the past too much because things keep happening around her, warning her from wondering about such things. Scary incidents at home and out and about keep her on edge.
I won't say anymore to avoid spoilers, but I definitely recommend this thriller. I had my suspicions, but it's a good reveal nonetheless and there are some real heart-stopping moments which have you fearing the worst.
Go check it out!
What a brilliant, fast paced thriller read this was it had me on the edge of my seat from beginning until the end.
The characters were very well described and I really enjoyed this five star read. I look forward to reading more from this author.
Thank you to Netgalley and Boldwood Books for this great ARC which I have no hesitation in recommending.
OMG what a read this was fantastic thriller. I was hooked from start to finish definitely a fast paced page turner. I loved the characters very well developed and the story was unique.
Ellie is mother to Tyler who is nearly 4, she is a single mother as Tylers father was ready for children. Whilst Ellie is picking her son off at pre-school one of the more friendlier mothers shows Ellie a photo on Facebook doing the rounds, it has a picture of her son with the title 'Missing' above it. Whilst it is clearly a fake Ellie is shook, when the threats escalate Ellie knows she need to find out who is doing this and why.
Excellent thriller which I highly recommend. Thanks to netgallery and the publisher for my advanced copy.
What a read! Once I started reading Missing I was completely hooked . I was riveted to this gripping psychological thriller. The tension, suspense and menace had my insides in knots. Rather scary in parts but was indeed relevant to the plot. There was no sleep for me until I finished this book. A worthy 5 star read for me
Really enjoyed this book. Kept me gripped from the first page, full of twists and turns.
Enjoyed how you were introduced to the back story bit by bit.
You just didn't know who to trust and found yourself guessing everyone.
When a picture of her 3 year old son appears online and around town as the subject in a "missing" post, Ellie becomes the object of suspicious looks and malicious gossip.
As she tries to work her way through the mess and proves her son is her own, her checkered past come backs to bite her.
Hard.
Great thriller with non stop suspense, action and incredible twists that keep you guessing with every page you turn.
Speechley does a great job with the whole mystery/thriller/suspense genre.
I await, with great anticipation, her next one.

Thank you for my copy of this book to read and review.
This is the first book I have read by this author but the description sounded really intriguing and original to me.
I will admit it took me a while to get into but once I was about a quarter of the way through, I couldn’t put it down. It definitely kept my attention with the twists & turns and the drip-feeding of what happened that night a few years back.
An easy to read, page-turning psychological thriller.
Thank you to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book.
This was an excellent read, and I can’t believe I’ve never read anything by this author before.
Ellie lives with her young son, is quite isolated, but has made a couple of good friends in the area she moved to. Her life is plodding along until one of the other parents at her sons nursery ask why there’s a missing child poster with her sons face on it. Ellie is very sure her son is not missing, but events take even worse turns until Ellie can trust no one.
This was a wild ride of a read, and really focuses on the power of the internet and how lives can be ruined in just a few small clicks. This author also tackles serious topics such as rape and sexual assault. I feel the author dealt with this well, and fitted the story correctly. The writing was great, and I read the whole story in a few hours, I could not put this down, every chapter offered new horrifying twists and turns in Eliie’s life as it spiralled out of control. The characters were well written, Ellie especially, and throughout I kept imagining all the different things I’d do if I were in her shoes. I can’t wait to read what this author writes next, and I’m off to buy everything she’s written.
A mom sees a post about a missing child, her child, but he isn’t missing. Preschool parents start avoiding her as the post spreads along with rumors about her personal life. Strange and concerning things start to happen. I loved the premise of this book. I highly recommend this book. I would definitely purchase this book.

My Review:
Enjoyed!!!!! I definitely did not expect any of that. It was going one way then bam it went another and another but in such a good way. I have to say what a great read this was. I was speechless by the end. Now let’s talk characters. They were awesome. You didn’t know who to trust or what to even believe. Now let’s talk plot. I loved it. What wasn’t there to love about it is the real question. It was super interesting and kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I read this one in just a few sittings because of it. Up next is that awesome ending that I never saw coming. Wow, just wow. I couldn’t believe it. I have to say that this is my favorite book by this author so far. It had all the things that I look for in a good book. I can’t wait to read more by this author.
In conclusion, the plot, the characters and all the twists in this book made this book an enjoyable read. I would definitely recommend it and happily give it 5 Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
