This took me a while to get in to but it was a definite page turner and I didn’t see the ending come. Really enjoyable, probably not a two time read but fun regardless!
This was definitely a fast paced story with plenty secrets and twists. I can't say I was invested or really cared about the characters or the story but there was certainly a lot going on and it was a decent enough locked room mystery
This is How We End Things centres around a group of graduate students and their professor who are studying the psychology behind lying. One night one of the students is found murdered in a building that only the research group has access to making everyone else in the group a suspect in their murder.
This book was really fast paced and quite addictive to read. I loved the theme of deception which was explored throughout the book and how it created multiple unreliable narrators. The locked room mystery element was exciting to read about and I loved the atmosphere created by the snowstorm, which prevents any of the main suspects from fleeing.
However, I found the final reveal disappointing and it rendered a lot of the secrets the characters were hiding irrelevant. In general I found the characters quite one dimensional mostly due to the fact that this book is written in third person from multiple points of view.
Overall this was a fast paced mystery with a lot of promise, however there were elements of the story which felt underwhelming.
