Great start to what is going to be.a wonderful place to visit. Anglesey in Wales just radiates peacefulness.
Nan loves her life trying to please her controlling husband and just generally trying to make everyone happy. Until she decides that she want to relocate to Anglesey where her mother is from and her Uncle still lives. She falls in love with a house with childhood memories but not so good ones for her mother.
She’s lonely at the start when her husband stops regularly coming down at the weekends and when money seems tight she knows something is wrong. Will she keep her dream house or will she lose everything including herself ?
Great read and looking forward to more visits to peaceful Wales

A book to lose yourself in!
When Nan Green finds a farmhouse for sale on Anglesey she is set on trying to persuade her husband Robin that they should move there with their twin daughters Ceri & Elin. Robin, however isn’t as keen and uses it to his advantage by deciding that in order for it to go ahead Nan needs to agree to his plan. At this point I’m shouting at Nan “don’t sign the agreement “
The farmhouse in question is called Coed Uchaf which Nan is familiar with from her own childhood and hold memories for several villagers, not all good. Nan is delighted to be living near her favourite uncle Dewi.
The drawback to living in small communities is that everyone one knows everyone else’s business. While the they gossip about it amongst themselves they aren’t willing to divulge the secrets. Which I was desperate to find out.
As Nan goes about doing the school run she is disappointed that the other mothers don’t speak to her or one other mother. Nan makes a point of smiling at her, then one day the other mother introduces herself as Gwendolyn, this is the start of a beautiful friendship.
I had to laugh at their antics.
Gwendolyn was my favourite character and least favourite was Robin!
There are several secrets to come out.

This is a lovely, easy read about family, secrets and community. I enjoyed Nan and the setting and descriptions took me straight to place, the sea, the community and right into Nan's home. This is such a well written book and a book that tugs at the heartstrings.

I enjoy books like this as they bring so much to light and it captivates you, intrigues you and makes you want to read more. It took me no time at all to read and very much enjoy this book

Thank you NetGalley and Storm Publishing for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

Thank you for allowing me to review this book. I found it very easy to read. The character Nan is very likeable and well depicted. She moves her young family to Anglesey where she has family history. It wasn't easy, but she overcomes difficulties with her lack of family support to make new friends and settle into the community. The story unpacks secrets from the past, the suffering caused as a result within the community as well as to Nan and her new friends.
The descriptions of the local environment are delightful and I would like to be able to visit for myself.
I recommend this book to others.

Secrets never stay secret and when exposed they can either blow apart what little security that you have or they can make you stronger. The question is which will they do for our main character in this book? Will she become a strong, independent woman or will the truth behind the secrets crush what little spark of life she has left? This story was a slow start for me and took a while for me to get into. I didn't much like the main character at the very beginning, but I suspect that is exactly what the author intended. You had to grow to like her, much like she had to grow to like herself. The saying that women marry their father, is quite apt. Women do tend to marry men like the main male role model they have had in their lives and this book brings that point to the forefront. The question is will she be like her mother and live with that type of man until one of them is dead or will she become strong enough to forage a new future for her and her children. In the beginning, I was not sure I would finish this book, but I couldn't stop thinking about the characters, so I carried on and became more and more engrossed in the outcome. I am thrilled that I did and must say that the author was able to pull emotions out of me that I didn't even know I was feeling towards these characters. Overall it is a good story of overcoming your past and making a future for yourself, but it wasn't with out twists, turns, turmoil and angst. Kudos to the author for being able to pull out emotions from me and making me invest in characters that I wasn't certain I was going to like at the outset! I can't wait to read another book by this author as she is quite adept at pulling the reader in and making them care about the conclusion!

In The Forgotten Farmhouse by the Sea, Caroline Young weaves a poignant narrative of self-discovery, forgiveness, and new beginnings, set against the picturesque backdrop of Anglesey, Wales. The story follows Nansi Green's journey as she seeks solace and contentment, but her troubled marriage with Robin stands in the way. As the cracks in their relationship deepen, Nansi's transformation becomes the focal point. The novel beautifully explores themes of loneliness, marital struggles, and emotional healing, drawing readers into the moody Welsh coastline and evoking a deep sense of place. A powerful theme of forgiveness runs through the story, adding depth to the characters and their relationships. With skillful storytelling, Young crafts a compelling and emotionally resonant narrative, leaving a lasting impression on the reader.

Childhood memories of vacations on the island and visiting family are so important that Nan convinces her husband to sell their home in Cambridge and move. The plan is for her husband Robin to work remotely one week and in office one week while Nan, along with their twin daughters, remodels and makes a home on the island. Nan, however, doesn't know her husband's secret plans. Both Nan and Robin harbor childhood secrets and pain and it results in a tumultuous relationship. When Nan is left alone on the island with the twins, when Robin claims he isn't able to work remotely, will their marriage survive? Will Nan lose her childhood dream home on the island? Or will Nan discover her inner strength and have a happy future?

Many twists and turns make The Forgotten Farmhouse by the Sea by Caroline Young a definite page turner and excellent read.

I absolutely loved this gorgeous story! It’s got everything I want from a book - great characters, vivid description, engaging story, love, romance and secrets! It’s set in Anglesey, Wales, and I fell in love with Coed Uchaf from the very beginning. Nan (Nansi) is someone that has a very troubled past, and this darker side of the story was dealt with very sensitively by the author I felt. Her marriage to Robin has deeper undertones that are revealed as the story unfolds, and as secrets are revealed by all the characters, I was entranced. I was completely drawn into this book from the very first page, and read it in one day as I just couldn’t leave the story until I got to the end. I love Harri, the troubled, tormented soul and his vulnerability, and Gwenno is a friend I would love to have on my side! It is Anglesey that really called to me - the author completely captured its beauty and its wildness for me, and I really want to live in Coed Uchaf! I thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful story, will go back to it again and immerse myself in it’s charms, and wholeheartedly recommend.

A decent book with a decent storyline. However a lot of these characters were completely unbearable and very irritating. I found parts of the book very boring and unnecessary to the plot. Overall a decent read but would benefit from being shorter

Nan has visited Anglesey since she was a child. Her mother originally came from there. A house comes up for sale and she persuades her husband Robin to buy it. It comes with provisions that she agrees to. Lovely descriptions of Anglesey
