This has squid game vibes all over it! It was interesting to see how they had all of the different psychological disorders and how routine could truly help (minus being in a recorded game show environment!). I did get into it, and had to understand what was happening. It had twists but not too much explanation for certain parts. It's definitely a more vivid imagination than I'm used to!
A too good to be true mental health facility is the setting for Damien Kane Rigden's novel "All Manner of Beast and Man." Oliva, after a severe mental breakdown, gets the opportunity to stay in a hospital sans vacation spa to get some much-needed therapy and medication. Once there she finds that her success in the program is contingent on the relationship she has with her roommate Eva. I enjoyed the concept of this novel and the relatively surprising ending. I just needed more. The description of the protagonist was shallow, and I couldn't really feel any sympathy or connection. I needed more than a clinical definition of her mental illness. How did she and others get to this place? There needed to be more description and less telling the reader what happened. It would be interesting to have a more in-depth conversation about the characters story instead defining their mental illness and occupation. It needed more girth and expansion. It needed teeth.
A gripping thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. The story centers around Olivia, a woman trying to rebuild her life after a stint in a psychiatric facility. As she settles into a luxurious mental health recovery center, the book takes readers on a rollercoaster ride of suspense and psychological intrigue. The author's masterful storytelling and expertly crafted characters draw you into a world where the line between reality and delusion blurs, leaving you questioning every twist and turn. This novel is a must-read for anyone who enjoys a chilling blend of psychological horror and thrilling suspense.
Wow, I couldn't put down All Manner of Beast & Man! From the first page, I was hooked like a fish on a line. This book isn't your typical thriller; it's a heart-pounding, mind-bending journey that had me guessing at every turn. If you're looking for a story that'll make your heart race and your palms sweat, this is it.
What I loved most about this book is how it messes with your mind. You're right there with Olivia, trying to figure out what's real and what's not. And just when you think you've got it all figured out, there's another twist that leaves you speechless. I highly recommend All Manner of Beast & Man to anyone who loves a good scare and a plot that keeps you guessing until the very end!
