Stella and her partner Wade appear to have the perfect life.
But when Stella starts to receive a series of threatening letters, her life takes a sinister turn.
This book is full of suspense and shocking twists. Which had me guessing right to the end.
It wasn’t who I thought it would be and was very surprised who it turned out to be.
I wasn’t to sure I liked how the story was being told from the POV of Stella, and from the POV of the unnamed person. I found it slightly confusing, but would still recommend the book.
Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood books for the opportunity to review this book.

This story follows Stella and her partner Wade. Their life together seems to be going perfectly. That is until Stella starts to receive threatening letters. To try and figure out who the culprit is, Stella has to dive into her past. While her life lately with Wade has felt perfect, her past was anything but perfect. She has a hunch on who she thinks the culprit is, but it's a guy she had a one-night stand with. Wade knows nothing about this. Is he her culprit or is it someone else who is trying to make her spill her own secrets.
This story was so well written that I was pulled into it from the beginning. It is full of suspense and shocking twists. The reader is on the outs of who the culprit is up until the ending, and I will say I kept second guessing myself on who I thought it was. The plot was so good that it provokes the reader to try and solve the mystery, while giving the eerie feeling of do we truly know those in our lives?
The Quiet One is thought-provoking, engaging, and thrilling. I would highly recommend this read.
Stella has a happy life with her partner Wade, their lovely home and her teaching job, but things start to go wrong when she receives threatening notes. As things get worse, she realises she must do what she can to find out who is behind the hate campaign, before it is too late... A tense and thrilling story that keeps you guessing until the shocking ending. Brilliant!
A very interesting plot line. There were so many twists and turns that kept your attention.
It was from the past to now and was told in a way that you didn’t know who it was talking about, it was fun seeing if I got it right.
A little slow in pets but still interesting enough to keep going.
Stella is a teacher in a local school, and lives with her partner, Wade. She receives some threatening notes, and suspects that they are from a man she had a one night stand with, and confronts the man, only to find that it was not him that sent the notes.
She has a shameful secret in her past that she would prefer not to divulge, it could destroy her relationship and the happy life she has built.
She soon finds out who has it in for her, and it was the last person she would ever have suspected.
This is a very quick read. I am not sure that I like the story being told in the way it was, from the POV of Stella, and from the POV of an unnamed person. It was slightly confusing for me, as both of them led similar lives with drunken parents.
I suspected the wrong person as well, I was surprised at who her tormentor turned out to be.
This is a creepy, and very sad novel, and neglect and abuse of children are triggers for those who are sensitive.

Judith has done it again. In “The Quiet One” she keeps the reader in suspense throughout the book about who is behind the hate campaign and why as the tension mounts. The journey is full of surprises that will have readers on edge until the very end as Stella is about to find out the truth. Overall, the plot of this book is suspenseful and the characters are well-developed, making the story engaging and thought-provoking. Judith deftly weaves together the psychological complexities of the characters with the fast-paced action of the plot, resulting in a deeply satisfying read. Anyone who enjoys a good mystery with a compelling psychological foundation should definitely read this book. Highly recommended for its engaging writing style and thrilling, emotionally resonant story.

As this young woman tries to figure how who can be sending her such threatening letters, JA Baker peels back the layers of the character to tease us with a number of suspects who all prove innocent, maybe. Stella is a teacher who struggled with interactions with her own classmates and must now dig into her own past to find out why, after all of these years, she is receiving such hateful messages. But when the twist comes, and if you've read any of JA Baker's books, you know there's a twist coming, nothing in the clues could have led us here. Another great thriller from an author who knows how to keep her readers turning those pages.
Sucked in from the first page. A great fast read. A girl who had a troubled life just trying to make it in the world and someone is after her. Who?! The book had me guessing until the very end. Great read thanks for the opportunity Netgalley to read this!

This book caught my attention from the cover alone!! I was drawn in from the first chapter. It’s an intriguing story that has a very unexpected twist which I found to be quite clever.
Stella is being targeted by someone and we take a look back into her life and childhood to see who the culprit could be. This book focuses on bullying and the overall message is quite compelling. Can we escape from our past? Will our childhood follow us for years to come or can we create a new life for ourselves despite the pain that wants to consume us?
Superb writing from this author, a very eye catching cover, this book will go far, 5 stars. Blindingly excellent ... This book should come with a disclaimer as once you start reading you aren’t going to want to walk away.
Always excited to read anything by this author and "The Quiet One" did not fail.
Tragic in parts, red herrings galore, just a brilliant read.
My thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my copy.
One of my favorite authors. A page turner. This talented author has written a cannot put down mystery. The different time periods confuses me, but I persevere. The main character is a teacher. Secrets and red herrings. Guessing the ending is almost impossible. The past meeting the present. The images. I look forward to more books by Baker. Thanks Netgalley.
This is one of those stories which grabs you from the first page and keeps you guessing right the way through.
Stella is very relatable as a character, and this leads me to feel more empathy for what she has gone through and continues to go through, now that her past seems to be catching up with her.
This books focuses on bullying and the effects it can have on people, both the bully and the bullied - it was eye-opening!
Another great read from Judith!
