Really struggled with this book. Didn't really
Feel a lot of romance and felt it was dragged out a lot. Couldn't connect with it, it might have been the mood i was in so will maybe try again. Thanks for the
Early read!
For me, this book was a dream. Chamonix is my most favorite vacation spot, so I felt familiarity with the geographical location and descriptions. Dive in to French culture while joining Luna on an adventure to discover who she is and who were parents were.
While it was too adult themed for my students in spots, it is 100% what all my mom and teacher friends need in their lives.
Luna is in France tracking down the person, or the story of the person, who has left her a substantial amount of money. Slowly, she uncovers her story, as well as her future.
This is a fairly typical romantic story set in the dramatic backdrop of the mountains. It's interesting, the characters are likeable and I did get drawn into the story quite quickly! I didn't enjoy this as much as Mack's last book I read but it's enjoyable nonetheless.
I found this book very long winded and it took ages for any romance to happen! The descriptions of the area were amazing but I felt the story really dragged at times making it hard to keep reading!
First, i want to say that the cover of this book is Very Nice! But I didn't get interested in the plot until the last few chapters where we finally see that Yannick has a personality and isn't just a droid with no outward emotion. The romance isn't there at all until those last 2 chapters. Up until that point it's more chick lit with Luna finding herself and learning about her history. I felt no chemistry between them and can't fathom how they managed to fall in love with Yannick was so closed off 99% of the book and Luna had one foot out the door on the way back to a job she's not really wanting and a house she may or may not want to buy in order to live out her mom's dream for her. It was all just a 'not so hot' mess (because even the 'hot' scenes that could have added some passion were vague and essentially closed door).
I’ve read more Books of Leonie Mack, but this one is not for me!
Snow Days With You is a sweet, slow-burn romance that left me with a cozy feeling. It takes place in Chamonix amidst the snow-covered mountains of France, which was an amazing, beautiful setting. There's a lot of French dialog throughout the book, but it's done in a way that makes the setting feel more authentic. I don't know French and didn't have any issues since most of it was translated or could be figured out from context.
The story's main characters are Luna and Yannick. Most of the book follows Luna's point of view but some parts follow Yannick, which I liked so I could see his perspective as well. On the surface, these characters seem completely different from each other: Luna has lived a very sheltered, safe life, while Yannick works as part of a rescue team for the mountains, traversing dangerous terrain that they must access by helicopter. But the characters are also both dealing with a lot of grief from losing loved ones and the ending of serious relationships. Luna travels to Chamonix after she receives a large insurance payout from a man she didn't know, and it's almost like fate with how Luna and Yannick's paths keep crossing with each other. I liked these characters, and I thought they really brought something good out of each other.
This book is an absolute gem. I almost have no words for how much I adore this book. In fact, it's one of my favorite reads of the entire year. I just fell in love with the characters, the setting is compelling, interesting, and engaging, and the romance...just so swoon-worthy. I have loved all the Leonie Mack's books I have read so far, but this one is even more special. More people need to discover this author- she is a treasure to the romance genre. Can't wait to read what she writes next!
Thanks to #Boldwood Books and #NetGalley for the ARC.
Give me a minute for my heart rate to return to normal, for a fair bit of this book is filled with so much scary drama, that I was totally caught up and wouldn't have been able to put the book down for anything.
After all this is a book featuring a mountain rescue team, in Chamonix, so some drama is potentially to be expected.
And boy does it deliver not only on that front, but also on an amazing setting, and with a story that has some many layers to uncover and discover.
I feel as though there is a new element or depth to Leonie Mack's writing in this book, which has made it even more spectacular and gripping than her previous books (which I also loved).
There is the mystery of just why Luna was left some money, why it seems as though her mother had lived in Chamonix for a bit, despite never mentioning it to Luna, and then Yannick is also hiding things too and struggling to move on with his own life.
Despite the mention of Christmas Day in the blurb, and the fact the book has been released in peak festive reading season - this isn't to my surprise in any way shape or form a Christmas book - it starts on Christmas day, but the story is set predominately in the first few months of the New Year, and is a winter romance, rather than a festive one. Which took me by surprise.
And wow mountain rescuers are hot! And learning about the dangers of the mountain was fascinating, as was seeing Luna's first attempts at skiing and climbing.
I was hooked on everything to do with this book, and couldn't devour it fast enough. It's wonderful and I absolutely adored Luna and Yannick and their story.
Thank you to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
Another smash hit from Leonie!!
Luna is feeling lost after her mother dies and heads out to Chamonix to find out more about the mysterious man who died and named her as the beneficiary of his life insurance payout.
When she meets Yannick, one of the Chamonix mountain rescue gendarmes, she's immediately intrigued by him and finds herself drawn into his world.
Meticulously researched and richly detailed this is a dedication to those who risk their lives to save others in the mountains and the impact it has on their loved ones.
I didn't want this book to end!!! I was on the edge of my seat during some of the mountain climbing scenes and the blossoming relationship between Luna and Yannick was beautiful.
Luna is an incredibly brave heroine who finds her feet (and her crampons) and Yannick is a reluctant hero, who quietly and selflessly helps her to achieve her goals.
I felt all the feelings with this one, it was funny and sad and steamy and bittersweet. I cannot recommend it enough!
This book grabbed my heart fast and held on. I read through this book in a hurry enjoying the humor, heartache and tension along the way.
Here you will find:
- Bits of humor
- Self healing
- Some Spice on the page
- Smile worthy banter
- Adventure and answers
Leonie Mack is now one of my favourite authors. Capturing the emotions of the characters without being overbearing and making the reader feel emersed in the environment and cultures!
Thank you Boldwood Books and Net Galley for the ARC.
Finding herself the unexpected beneficiary of a significant amount of money from someone she has never heard of let alone met Luna travels to France.
Not being able to ask her mum about any connections leaves the relationship a puzzle.
Unpicking pieces of the past and making friends helps Luna to settle.
Finding love is unexpected and not what Luna bargains on when Yanni is part of the rescue community.
A relaxing romance where you feel the doubts and pains of both Luna and Yanni
I received an advanced reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.
I was very excited to read this book and Leonie didn't disappoint. It was a perfect christmas holiday romance to get you ready to settle into the holiday spirit. The book follows Luna Rowntree, who gets an unexpected and life changing legacy from a man she has never met. She sets off on an adventure, taking her mothers ashes with her for company, and gets saved by Yannick who agrees to help her on her crazy mission. Together they end up facing their past and having to open up to some home truths - with the story penning a romance to remember.
Definitely 5* and I can't wait to read other stories. by this author.
Thanks again
This one had a slow start, but about halfway through it really picked up. Sometimes I get impatient with a slow burn, but this one was worth it! The ending was great! This story was full of emotion, but not too heavy. The MFC, Luna is on a mission to find more about a Man she had never met that left her quite the gift. The story takes you along on her adventure of finding answers and maybe love along the way!
The story is set in a snowy Mountain town in France. It’s the perfect cozy fall / winter read!

The story has a sense of mystery to it, as Luna is trying to figure out why she was the benefactor of the money and also discovering things about her late mother that she never knew. That part of the story took some turns I wasn't expecting, so it kept things interesting. There was also an "air of excitement" with mountain rescues and mountain climbing being a major theme.
Character development over the course of the story was huge. It was almost like the Luna at the end was a different person from the Luna at the beginning. And Yannick grew over the course of the story as well. The book kept me immersed and interested. I would love to read more books by Leonie Mack now that I've had a chance to read one!
Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the free advance copy of Snow Days With You! My review is my own honest opinion of the book.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.
I am unsure what to rate this book. I really loved the premise and, initially, saw a lot of potential in the story. When I was 15 chapters in and the story wasn’t going anywhere definite, it was hard to push through.
Luna is sweet and a little clueless, which didn’t bother me much. I feel like you “see” more of her personality from outside narration than her actual actions. But Yannick was incredibly flat to me. With a daughter, trauma, and high-risk career, I should have been “drawn” in… but was disappointed. Honestly, I couldn’t see their chemistry for 90% of the story.
If you know French, this book may also be more up your alley.
I feel like I have been on my little winter escape, reading this despite never having been a skier!
Luna is on a journey of discovery. After a mystery windfall, she is determined to find out why a stranger left her a large sum of money before spending it. She ends up in Chamonix, and her trip starts with drama as she runs out of petrol. A chance meeting with a gendarme who leaves his mark on her after that short encounter seems to pave the way for a trip willed with many revelations, including her learning many secrets about her mother and father and the fact that she can ski, given a chance!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for an ARC.
This was my first book I have read by Leonie Mack and I absolutely adored it. This was a super sweet and cute romance! I enjoyed reading about the journey Luna and Yannick went on, both as individuals and as a couple.
This book deals with love, grief, found family, and friendships. Luna is on a journey of discovering who she is and the secrets her mom kept from her and Yannick is the man to help her. He is such a lovable mountain man and took the time to get to know Luna and teach her the ways of the mountains.
This book does take place in France and there is a lot of French phrases throughout this book. Some were translated and some were not and I had to look some up.
For me, it was more difficult to read about the cold and snow because I'm not ready for that type of weather! But none of that ruined the story for me!
Thankyou to the publishers and NetGallery for allowing me to read this book.
Such a lovely, sweet read about love, Christmas and the festive season. I would definitely recommend this book to people to read in the festive holidays.
The Author did very well in describing the locations that the main characters were located in and the experiences that they had. I could envisage myself there and understood the bitter coldness and severity of the snow filled mountains.
The story was romantic if not a little too predicable.
I found that I was using Google to translate a lot of the French that was not converted into English and that spoiled my enjoyment of the book.
I also felt that it dragged on a little bit too much and did not captivate me to keep reading to guess what the result of the plots were.
If you are lazing on a beach and have plenty of spare time then this is the book for you
I hate leaving negative reviews of books because I know the authors put a lot of work into the books. But unfortunately, this book was absolutely boring to me. I've never read this author before, so maybe I just didn't know what to expect. I honestly questioned if I even read the same book as everyone else.
To start with, it's 40 chapters, each taking about 9 mins to read for me (and I'm a fast reader who reads 250 books a years...). A book this length is absolutely fine, as long as there's a plot that keeps you engaged, and that wasn't the case. I actually started this book, almost decided to DNF, but instead just stopped 50% into it because nothing was happening and read 2 other books before coming back to this one in hopes it would get better. There's just not a lot that actually happens in the first 3.5 hours of reading to justify a book that length.
I didn't get interested in the plot until the last few chapters where we finally see that Yannick has a personality and isn't just a droid with no outward emotion.
This book takes place in France, so there's a lot of French phrases the author includes, some translated, some not. So as an American, I found myself using my Kindle Translate to figure out the ones I didn't already know.
Maybe this is a 'it's me, not you' thing and you'll enjoy this. I don't know. It just wasn't for me at all and I'm so glad to be done with it.
