Thank you to Netgalley, the publishers and of course the author for gifting me this advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
This was such a beautiful, heartwarming story filled with so much emotion and so delicately written. Chloe, the FMC, goes on an unexpected journey of discovery and healing of her long term depression and anxiety when she gets stranded in Deer Lodge during a blizzard and helps out the captain of the police force, Carter, to manage the chaos around them. I loved the dynamic between Carter and Chloe, especially when they are faced with some difficult situations, and the way Carter is able to handle Chloe and help her with her healing in unexpected ways.
I would really love to read more books by this author.
Sweet story with mature characters who fall hard for each other. Dealt well with issues such as anxiety and traumatic experiences and the importance of mental health care.
Great for readers looking for sweet, wholesome, chaste romance books with pious characters.
Would have liked to have seen more descriptive writing.
This is my first experience reading something by this author and it will definitely not be my last. Chloe's life is organized and predictable, but she decides she could use some variety and takes a weekend road trip. On her journey, she encounters a blizzard, forcing her to take refuge in the small town of Deer Lodge. She finds she has the skills to help Carter, Captain of the police force, manage the disaster. Things go well until she is faced with a disaster of her own when confronted by two criminals while alone in the police station. And what started out as a temporary stop in a small town turns out to be a place of self-discovery and healing, and possibly embark on a new romance.
Chloe has a history of anxiety and depression and her battles were honestly portrayed with sensitivity and authenticity and her journey of personal growth and healing was inspiring. Chloe was a well-written and relatable character with realistic qualities that made her easily likable. And Carter's determination and desire to help her made him a totally endearing and swoon-worthy character. The story was emotional and heartwarming and had me invested from the start. A beautiful story that I am happy to recommend!
I received a complimentary copy from Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.
A romance novel that beautifully captures the transformative power of love. Chloe Holland's character is instantly relatable, and her unexpected journey to Deer Lodge, Montana, amidst a blizzard, sets the stage for a story filled with both warmth and suspense. As she becomes an essential part of the town's crisis management team, readers will admire her resilience and determination.
The author skillfully weaves a tale of love, healing, and personal growth, with Captain Carter Mitchell standing as a steadfast and endearing partner. Chloe's battle with depression and anxiety adds depth to the narrative, making her journey towards self-acceptance and love all the more touching.
Looking for a heartwarming read that'll whisk you away on a journey of love and self-discovery? Seventeen Days by Jaqueline Penny is an absolute must! From the moment I picked up this book, I was hooked by Chloe's character and her unexpected adventure in the snowy town of Deer Lodge, Montana. The story brilliantly combines romance and suspense, making it impossible to put down.
What sets this book apart is its honest portrayal of mental health struggles. Chloe's battle with depression and anxiety is portrayed with sensitivity and authenticity, making her journey towards love and self-acceptance all the more inspiring. Captain Carter Mitchell is a dreamy hero who will have you rooting for their love story from start to finish.
I read a pre-publication electronic copy of this book. I found the story, one of relationship and connections, interesting and inspiring. I always enjoy seeing a relatable character experience life and grow from interactions with others. The characters were well developed, and the plot was sufficiently complex to hold readers' interest. The ending was less than totally satisfying, apparently as an open door to a sequel. The dialogue did not always flow naturally, and there were a few issues with grammar and usage that will be corrected, I'm sure, before publication. Overall, Seventeen Days is a good and worthwhile read.
I really wanted to give this book and author a chance, but I'm only to 23% on my kindle and will not finish. There is not enough 'meat' between Chloe and Carter. They fell in love way took quickly. She is the girl for him because she got shot and she killed two criminals? Not buying it. Sorry. And, what police officer gives a stranger his gun? What about the investigation into killing two men, criminal or not? If it comes later, I am going to miss it.

In the Chill of Winter, Love Finds Its Warmest Refuge…
Chloe Holland’s life as a conscientious, organized accountant is about to change, only she doesn’t know it. Chloe’s belief that she is not worthy of love is countered by the Captain’s stubborn desire to help her learn how to break through the walls she has built.
Review:
First off, I’ll start by saying I’m giving this story a 3-star review.
The flow of the story is flawless, the development of the characters is very well done and they feel real and very likable. I love how you’ve captured the emotions, which I can feel. These are essential for a well-balanced story and you nailed them. Where the 3-star review comes in is the editing is very bad, I’ve read stories from twelve-year-olds with better editing. The pure amount of grammatical and overall paragraph flow is some of the worst I’ve seen, but I like how you ask if anyone wants to join your beta team to help ensure future stories don’t have those errors.
I love stories where they know in an instate this is the person I want to be with because I lived that. As I said the story flow is what kept me reading. I checked out your other review since there is only one and that person didn’t even give the story a chance, I feel she missed out.
I received this book for free from NetGalley for my honest review.
I didn't feel this was the right book for me. I got through 11%, the main catalyst event came/went in the first bit, and to me, the rest was filler. I'm sure there will be others who will enjoy this book, some romance, Christian themes and small town.
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.
