A gorgeously funny and beautifully illustrated children’s book, examining all the things that can go wrong if you let animals help with Christmas with some laugh out loud disastrous results. Great fun book to share with my grandchildren.
A fun, rhyming book with lovely illustrations. Great for sharing with younger children in the run up to Christmas.
If you want your Christmas to go smoothly, you probably don’t want to rely on this cast of animal characters to help you out. But there is one thing that they will make a great success of …
This is a hilarious, festive romp, perfect for little ones (and their grown ups!) You’ll be guffawing like a gnu and chuckling like a chimpanzee. The appealing rhyming text encourages read along together and the illustrations provide lots of opportunity for talk. I never imagined I would ever read anything that rhymed alpaca with cracker or that I’d need a warning about a giraffe’s stocking, but I must say that I feel very much aligned to the wildebeest here.
Wonderful illustrations in this picture book which young children will enjoy. Easy to follow advice on not letting the animals take on different tasks over the festive season and I’m sure will have families chuckling together.
Really funny picture book for young children all about the perils of different animals helping out at christmas. Each page goes through an animal and why it wouldnt be useful.. loved the one about the squid designing a christmas card! The illustrations all support the hunour and there is lots to look at on each page. Lots of fun in this book!
How many ways do I love this series?!? Too many to count!
This series is adored by little ones, it's always a sure fire hit in the classroom. I love this Christmas/winter version. It contains all the energy, zaniness and pure joy that we've come to expect from this fabulous duo.
A festive version of the 'Dont let an elephant...' series.
I love these books - the rhymes are perfect, the illustrations are great with hidden details, and the animals featured aren't the usual ones you find in picture books.
We'll definitely be asking Santa for a physical copy of this book to add to our collection.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced ebook copy in exchange for an honest review.
We always enjoy reviewing books in this series and this festive edition will ensure your Christmas gets off to a jolly start. Full of silly scenarios, rather than an actual story, it's a book that readers of all ages can enjoy together and which will have little ones turning the pages in delight again...and again...and again...
An elephant pulling Santa's sleigh? Raccoons decorating your Christmas tree? And a walrus putting up your Christmas lights? Oh no, no, no, that will never do. If you want your Christmas to go smoothly, you'll need to adhere to the warnings and find some sensible alternatives. Otherwise, who knows who you'll end up kissing under the mistletoe...
Packed with hilarious illustrations by David Tazzyman, this is a book that celebrates both words and pictures. You only have to look at Santa's expression on the front cover to get a glimpse of the riotous fun in store. Plus, little ones can use the silly inspiration to create fantastic scenarios of their own. Who do they think should pull Santa's sleigh...or not?
Every page-turn builds on the last, escalating the excitement, with a lovely conclusion that pulls everything together at the end. As always with this series, the animals steal the show, making it extra appealing for younger readers. Animals + Christmas + a bit of bonkers humour = you CAN'T let this book go unread.
This review will be published on our review blog as part of our Christmas round-up later this year - many thanks
I so wish this had a more stars option!
I would give it a huge 10. Brilliantly done with a great christmas story for kids and adults to enjoy.
This is packed full off hilarious, beautifully decorative illustrations.
I loved that each individual page was so exciting and produced so much love and fun while reading it.
The perfect christmas gift. I will be buying my copy!

The animals want to help out with all the Christmassy things but it doesn’t work quite how they planned In this hilarious Christmas rhyming picture book.
This was hilarious I absolutely loved it, each animal has a different job they are trying to do, but each thing they do goes wrong or makes it worse and messier than it was. From making cards, to decorating and pulling the sleigh, It was so funny, it had me laughing all the way through.
I loved the illustrations seeing exactly what they were getting into it made the book even more hilarious seeing each animal and the people around them and their faces. They were always shocked at what they were doing and it was so great.
This is a perfect Christmas book, I recommend this book to anyone that loves Christmas, loves Christmas books and enjoyed reading them with their children each year. It’s so hilarious, the illustrations are wonderful and you will have the best time enjoying this book.
This is a funny children's Christmas book, which my daughter and I really enjoyed reading together at bedtime.
The images in the book are really cute, funny and quirky, and the text is told in rhymes, which we loved. The animals in the book are hilarious, and they made us laugh, with their crazy antics.
This would make a great Christmas gift for any child. Highly recommended!
Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book.
The perfect book to share with small children in the run up to Christmas! The rhymes and illustrations put various animals into well known Christmas situations and chaos ensues - the rhyming verses are simple and funny for both the child and the adult reading it (alpaca and cracker was a personal highlight) and the illustrations are full of things to look out for and talk about. The whole series of these books has been a hit with all the children I know that have read them and this is another classic. This is an absolutely wonderful book for small children and I'm sure would be enjoyed at any time of year.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy in return for an honest review.
