Princess Fuzzypants here: This is a great book for the young reader who wants to advance into chapter books. The story about two loving but mischievous kitties is charming. They are curious about Halloween and figure that if they could go door to door, they could collect human treats and trade them in for kitty treats.
Their mom tries to stop them but these naughty kitties manage to sneak out but redeem themselves with an act of generosity and kindness. When they return home, they are rewarded. It is a sweet little story. I just wish there were more of the adorable drawings that were spread throughout the book. They were delightful. Four purrs and two paws up.
This might be the silliest book we've ever read. Who names their cat puppy? My two year old was very confused but the four year old thought it was grand.
Not even a little but close to what I expected based on the cover and synopsis. I have no doubt plenty of people would enjoy this but it wasn’t the right fit for myself or my seven year old daughter. The illustrations and pictures are also very juvenile looking which really distracted from the story.
Thanks to the publisher for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

Great book for children! Shows the magic of halloween and keeps it interesting with the animal characters and their journey.
This is a delightful story about two (real) cats - Puppy and Stitch - who are inspired by the children that they see trick-or-treating. Because it looks like great fun, and given the free candy involved, the two felines decide that they too will go in their "cat costumes" and gather human treats to trade in for kitty treats.
In order to do so, they develop an impressive strategic plan with three options - which is just as well, because the first one proves to be a bust!
The trials and triumphs of Puppy and Stitch, the interesting encounters they have in the course of their outing, and what ultimately happens to the treats that they collect makes for an adorable story, and the illustrations and photographs that accompany the text are a perfect complement to the storytelling.
What I like most about this book is the fact that it actually provides an interesting, unusual and reasonably detailed plot in a story that is intended for young readers. Too often, stories targeted at young children tend to be overly simplistic. I think kids will love this book.
