This gripped me RIGHT AWAY with the small town vibes and hilarity … soon I was completely lost to this novel as it also packs a cozy mystery, and absolute chaos. Toss in ‘I Love Lucy’ style antics (only more plausible / less ridiculous) and I was dying of laughter before long. Monroe is quickly becoming one of my top authors, the more of her work I read.
💛 He falls first.
💙 Scandal, lies, betrayal.
💛 Mysteries everywhere.
💙 Tons of witty banter.
💛 Trouble-making ‘old biddies’ who do more than gossip.
💙 Grand gesture—one of the best I’ve ever seen/read.
💛 Found family.
💙 Crime.
💛 Lovable canine secondary character.
💙 Personal growth in lead characters.
Overall:
I laughed, I felt tugs at my heartstrings, I was intrigued and I completely want to move to the town this is set in … and make best friends with Louie (the dog)! Highly recommend this read.
Absolutely dying for more in this world/ town. Monroe is a genius.
4.5 stars.

Perfect. Overall sound quality is crisp and clear and the narrators were amazing—truly perfect.
The introductions to the two main characters were very entertaining! I am happy to report that the fun didn't stop there! Ellie has been wronged on so many levels, but she needs her dog back. Hugh is just trying to scope out his inheritance to decide how to best help his mom and set himself up for success. Once Ellie and Hugh meet, in the most unconventional way, the deals, plots, Hi jinx, hilarity and a relationship emerge. This book is a stand alone story, but I hope we get to visit the island again. Especially considering that there are folks there that I would like to follow up with!
This was a Facebook. Lily, and once again gave us a book that had me rolling on the ground, laughing and then flipping pages to see what would happen between the female and the male in the book. I love the revenge Claudine and the ups and downs in the twist interns that she included in this book. I found that the main female character in this book was the focal point, but also that her being with some more so it serious guy added the cherry on top to the story.
I had so much fun reading Four Steps to the Perfect Revenge! The humor in this book really stood out for me—it had me laughing out loud in more than a few spots. The plot is cute and keeps things moving at a great pace, with enough intrigue to keep me hooked. I loved how the humor added a unique touch to the story, making it feel lighter even when things got tense.
The writing is beautifully done—there’s something almost lyrical about it, which made the experience even more enjoyable. It’s clear that the author put a lot of thought into crafting the narrative. The balance between humor and suspense felt just right, and it made for an easy, entertaining read.
As for the characters, I had mixed feelings. Some of them were wonderfully written and felt real to me, but others were harder to connect with on a deeper level. That being said, the overall story kept me so engaged that it didn’t detract too much from my enjoyment.
This book really is a hidden gem with a perfect blend of humor, heart, and a dash of revenge. If you’re looking for a light, entertaining read, I definitely recommend giving this one a shot!
Four Steps to the Perfect Revenge is a romantic comedy about Ellie Davis and Hugh Hartford. This book starts with these two characters meeting with Ellie attacking Hugh thinking he is trying to break into someone's house.
Ellie is going through a rough breakup. Her ex is doing all these things, and to get back at him she decides she needs revenge. Hugh gets ringed into helping Ellie. As he's with her he realizes not everything is as it seems.
Can Ellie get revenge on her ex-fiancée? Will Ellie finally get her happy ending?
This was a solid four star read for me. Ellie and Hugh both have their own reasons for wanting to find out more about what Jason is up to. It made for a fun and entertaining adventure with all the trouble they got into along the way. I loved Ellie's family too. A good romance story.
This book has everything you would expect and love about Lilian Monroe's books. It will make you laugh out loud, it has a hot alpha, a little suspense, some heat and of course a HEA.
I really wanted to like this book. The plot sounded promising : woman get revenge on her ex-fiance with a hot man and of course, they fall in love. Fake Dating, miscommunication, tempers, secrets. I just did not vibe with this book.
This book was amazing and I wasn't able to put it down once I started reading it. Add this book to your TBR and you won't be disappointed.
The characters in this story are easily lovable. You get to experience the rollercoaster of emotions with them throughout.
The storyline is fun and captivating, even causing a few giggles. The author alludes to heat, but there really isn't any spice.
I was expecting a bit more because of the cover; I think this story suits more of an animated cover than the one it has.
Ellie can't seem to forget her ex-fiancée Jason even after she caught him cheating and now he's trying to steal her father's property. She plans on getting revenge when she hires a boatbuilder. Hugh shows up instead of the guy she hired and he's good looking, charming and interested in her. A fun, steamy read.
I received a copy of this book via Netgalley.
Amazing book!
I was thoroughly engaged throughout this book and I didn't want to put it down! The author captured my attention from the get go! Five stars from me :)
First thoughts: A short and sweet feel good romance.
The author did a great job evoking emotion within the reader at the right time. For example I felt Ellies infuriation with her ex and was right with her wanting to demand justice for the horrible things he was doing and how he treated woman in general.
I do feel that the romance between Ellie and Hugh moved a little fast for how slow the book moved in time. The author did slow it right down towards the end of the book where you felt the slow burn that made it the feel good romance it turned out to be.
This book is a humorous and fast-paced romantic comedy that follows Ellie Davis as she seeks revenge on her ex-fiancé, Jason. When her plan takes an unexpected turn and she hires Hugh Hartford through the OddJobs app, sparks fly between them, leading to a captivating romance filled with witty banter. As they navigate their feelings and seek retribution against Jason, the novel explores themes of forgiveness, second chances, and unexpected love. With a perfect balance of humor and romance, this delightful read promises to leave readers smiling.
I loved this book!! It was fabulous and well done. The characters were on point and I thought the plot was well developed. I would recommend this book to others.
Four Steps to the Perfect Revenge is a sort of rom-com but also sorta romantic thriller in a way, its an interesting genre that had a lot thrown at it. It was a fairly quick read but the characters are just sort of meh for me. I understood the motivations but it all felt so juvenile especially in the beginning. I did not love Ellie until closer to the end of the book but i stuck through it and was pleased with some of the ending. Not my favorite romance but also was not a DNF.
What a lovely book! Ellie is so delightfully portrayed, broken but with brittle edges. Hugh is perfect for her...except for his secrets! Hope we get to read more of this lovely family - Daphne's story perhaps!

I really enjoyed this book – it is pure escapism set in an island community with a lovely group of residents and one overly horrible ex-fiancé who manages to destroy most of the good things in Ellie's life.
Her meet-cute with Hugh Hartford is definitely memorable, and although all seems good between them, he is harbouring a secret, which poor chap he just cannot find a good time to reveal. It is highly entertaining watching him baulk at it time and again. Inevitably it damages their growing closeness, but the author does a great job of encouraging us to keep the faith.
There are so many fun islanders, but I think probably Ellie's parents and grandmother are my favourites. Hugh has quite a revelation of how different family life can be!
This is a cute vacation read with lots of hijinks and the enemies to lovers trope. I really enjoyed the read, but felt it ended kind of suddenly. I would have loved a longer ending.
