Kristen Bailey has done it again! She is one of my favourite authors when it comes to romance, humour and those unforgettable one liners. Five Gold Rings is a feel good festive read/listen and perfect for the week that’s in it and the run up to Christmas. I switched between audio and ebook for this one and loved it in both formats. The narrators were fab and really brought the humour and characters to life but that’s not to say that the ebook doesn’t deliver in the same way. It brought many a smile to my face. Bailey really knows how to write such quirky, likeable characters and I loved them all except for Chris 🙄. It’s cleverly written with a lot of little sub-plots that add to Eve and Joe’s story. This is definitely one to read or listen to to put you in the Christmas spirit. It has to be said that the statements “Go pull his cracker” and “Do you mind if I have a bite of your whopper?” will never sound the same again 🤪…

Thanks to Kristen Bailey and Storm Publishing for the opportunity to read and review #FiveGoldRings

Thank you Storm Publishing and NetGalley for this ARC. This book is live, released on October 30, 2023.

This was definitely a fun read with dual POVs, so much Christmas Eve and Christmas weddings and proposals, and a friends to lovers romance! I wasn’t a big fan of Eve, FMC, mainly because I felt like she was drunk majority of the book… but I mean if you catch your man cheating on you, do what you need to do. But it came to the point where it was effecting sweet innocent Joe, MMC. I thought Joe was the sweetest MMC and did everything right for Eve, and even helped her through a difficult time. Overall, I just liked this book but I really enjoyed Eve and Joe’s ring fiasco adventure! I felt like that kept me reeled into the story to figure out what their next stop or if Joe was going to have to participate in another wedding.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Storm publishing for this advance copy of Five Rings by Kristen Bailey. Merry Christmas to those who celebrate - this one is available now for you to pick up!

After really enjoying Bailey’s “Sex Ed” earlier this year, I was so excited to get a copy of her Christmas release, with such a unique premise - we have our protagonists Eve and Joe on a quest to help reunite jewelry with their original owners before the holiday ends. Eve is fresh off a breakup after catching her man cheating and Joe’s been pining after Eve forever, so naturally this one is set up for these two to find themselves in each others’ arms. This one fell a little flat for me - we got SO many details about all of the couples that Eve and Joe were delivering to, that I actually considered putting it down at around 30% because I was so bored waiting for the romance to occur. This one is definitely a slow burn - it takes awhile to get going. I did enjoy Bailey’s writing style in this one, but it wasn’t as easy of a read as my first work I read due to the other subplots.

Thank you again to NetGalley and the publishers for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

25 Books of Christmas- Day 24

Book Review:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

With Christmas just days away, Eve leaves a work trip early in hopes of surprising her boyfriend, Chris. But when she discovers Chris has been having an affair with a coworker, she is the one left stunned. Deciding to throw herself into her second job, she spends the rest of her Christmas holiday delivering engagement rings. Will her time delivering rings be enough to restore her faith in love, or will it ruin Christmas for good?

The Twelve Days of Christmas, serves as the inspiration for Kristen Bailey’s latest book. Bailey wrote her book specifically around day five- five golden rings. Her innovate take on the popular song makes this one of the most unique Christmas books on the market.

Not only was I impressed by Bailey’s premise, but also her writing style. She wrote a dual POV story. However, unlike other dual POVs each character is responsible for telling half of each chapter (traditionally, POVs are told via alternating chapters). I loved getting to see things through both Eve and Joe’s eyes. It was only through their combined accounts that readers received a comprehensive understanding of their story.

It is for these reasons, and many more that I recommend this book!!!

Special thanks to Netgalley, Kristen Bailey, and Storm Publishing for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest review.

Okayyy this book has no business being as adorable as it is 😍

Five Gold Rings starts with Eve catching her boyfriend in the shower with another woman, right before Christmas. She heads to the jewelry store where she works, and takes on the task of delivering five rings for various proposals and weddings that are occurring over the holidays .... Oh, and her dreamy coworker Joe will be joining her and he loves her. Of course.

This book was absolutely lovely. It was sweet and endearing, but also kind of hilarious (Eve is very drunk most of the book and on an understandable emotional rollercoaster, providing tons of genuine comedic relief) ... As they navigate through these deliveries, encountering acts of love in all sorts of beautiful ways, Eve is able to rediscover the idea of true love.

I'd definitely recommend this one for those who love a bit of heartbreak and a whole lot of feels. Oh, and Christmas. You must like Christmas because there's a lot of that 🎄❤️

Thank you Netgalley, Kristen Bailey and Storm Publishing for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review ❤️

I have read a few really cute ones and I am adding Five Gold Rings to the list. It is the story of co-workers at a jewelry store who have to spend Christmas Eve swapping out ring deliveries that went to the wrong place. This book cracked me up. Snorting and laughing out loud while reading cracking me up. Eve and Joe had the best chemistry ever and they were both so lovable. I loved their banter, I loved the absurd situations they found themselves in as they delivered the rings, I loved how heartfelt and charming this book was from the first page to the end. Just pure festive fun. If you want a cozy book for this weekend, this is it.

This book is everything that a good festive read should be.
It’s a story that will charm you and warm your heart.

Eve and Joe work together in a jewellers shop.
Christmas is coming and there are five gold rings that need to be delivered.
Their journey together to deliver the rings is funny, sweet, touching and engaging.

Eve and Joe are both a delight and I adored their story.

Kristen Bailey is an excellent writer. Her style is quirky, irreverent and laugh out loud funny. Then she throws in some real awww moments of emotion that are quite simply beautiful.

This book has put me in my Christmas rom-com reading era. It was such a feel good book that had me smiling and feeling like I was watching a Hallmark Christmas movie. This was my first Christmas book of the year and now I am excited to read some more.

In this book we meet Eve and Joe. It's a he falls first (which I love) and a friends to lovers (which I also love) romance. They both work for a jewelry story and due to a mix up have to deliver 5 rings before Christmas. I loved reading about the various deliveries and the funny antics that ensue. I often found myself laughing out loud.

It is told in duel POV. There is no spice and it is a bit of a slow burn for the main characters to express their feelings, but it is such a fun and feel good story. I was totally rooting for Eve and Joe, even though Eve just got out of a 3 year relationship. I kept wondering how they would realize they BOTH had feelings for each other. It kept me intrigued and wanting to continue to read way past my bedtime.

I have never read anything by this author but would give her other books. a try. This book did have vocabulary I was unfamiliar with since the setting was in London, but it didn't affect my ability to love this book.

Thank you NetGalley and Storm Publishing for an advanced ecopy of this book. I voluntarily read it and gave an honest review.

This was the perfect read just before the holidays! It had twists and turns, the sweetest love story with hilarious pit stops in between. I loved the characters and the story. Definitely checking out more by this author.

When Eve comes home early to find her boyfriend cheating on her, she also finds out he planned to propose.

But her work colleague Joe helps her get passed the festive season, as the two are on a mission from Casper and Sons to get five gold rings delivered to their owners; in time for specific events. Not only will these events redeem the Christmas spirit in Eve but give her some much-needed romance along the way

I love the characters so much in this book. Mr and Mrs Casper who are the sweetest elderly couple, and owners of the jewellery stone, Gabriel who is an absolute cheerleader for Joe.
Eve is selfless and shows determination for a happy ending. The character of Joe is equally likeable with a protective nature. You couldn't help but want the two to get together.

This novel is split between the two main characters giving us a dual narrative that allows the reader to see two sides of the story; which makes it perfectly written.

Bailey gives us a Christmas feel-good novel with fantastic humour.
This book will put any reader in such an enjoyable mood. I adore this author's books and writing and would recommend them to anyone.

Five Gold Rings was so fun! I loved Eve and Joe's jaunt through London as they delivered the five rings for five very different and wonderful Christmas proposals. Overall, this book was so sweet and full of Christmas cheer but I was a bit appalled that Eve didn't need to go to the hospital for how much of this story she was drunk for. The writing was witty and I definitely would recommend this as a sweet and fun festive romance.

This was a really sweet book. The heartbreak that Eve feels in beginning of the book was so well written I was feeling it and right there with her. The relationship between Eve and Joe unfolding throughout the story from a true friendship into more was just so enjoyable and funny. I loved the incorporation of the delivery of the 5 rings throughout to develop that relationship and also show other relationships and their ups and downs. It was a really fun and quick read. There should have been more of the Caspar's. I would read a second, third, fourth book expounding on this couple and the jewelry shop.

A really fun and enjoyable festive rom com.

I definitely could have read this book in one sitting if I’d had the time. It drew me in from the very beginning and had me laughing out loud several times! The different adventures they had were all so unique and funny, it never felt repetitive which can sometimes be the case with storylines like this.

Eve and Joe were lovely and I really enjoyed reading their story. There were also several great secondary characters too!

If this book isn’t on your festive TBR list it needs to be. I loved this book and would definitely recommend it!

Five Gold Rings was the perfect holiday romcom! It was everything I could have wanted and more in a holiday read. I was hooked from the first chapter which was a good sign.

It was fun. The characters were lovable. I laughed throughout the entire book. The adventure to Christmas was very entertaining. It reminded me a lot of early 2000s holiday romcom movies. I sincerely enjoyed it through and through!

Thank you to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for the ARC!

Solidly Silly Yet Hallmarkie Christmas RomCom. The opening of this tale is actually somewhat reminiscent of the opening of Luke Young's Seriously Messed Up - another great romcom from several years ago now - though reversed (there it was the male main character, here it is the female main character). Which admittedly set the bar quite high for me, as that particular book is one I routinely list as among the funniest I've ever read.

But y'all.... Bailey delivers here. Seriously, this is comedy gold in some of the best possible ways, while still having enough serious aspects to ground the tale and give it at least a touch of gravitas. All centered around Christmas and in particular a very specific Christmas carol, but with a unique spin on it I'd never encountered before.

If you need some laughs this holiday season, for any reason, and you don't mind staring maybe uncomfortably long at a naked dude going full frontal in the opening scene... you're probably going to like this one. Even if you *don't* like staring at naked dudes uncomfortably long... you'll probably still like this one... once the opening scene moves on from that particular moment. :) Told with a great amount of comedy but also enough heart to make Captain Planet proud, this really is one of those feel good Christmas tales with lots of holiday cheer and maybe a few holiday tears. Very much recommended.
