The Wrong Guy is the second book in the Cold Spring series, but it can be read as a standalone.
Wren and Jesse had a friends with benefits situation, but a misunderstanding ended that relationship. And yet, when life kept putting them in each other’s paths, it was obvious they both still had feelings for each other.
I loved how smart, feisty, and strong Wren was. She didn’t back down from any challenge she had to face.
Jesse was obsessed with Wren, and he was very sweet and patient with her.
These two had so much chemistry, and they were so good together.
There was also a lot of drama within the town itself, and it was fun seeing how it all played out.
This one was fun! I hadn't read the first, but I enjoyed this one, and I didn't feel like I was missing out on anything. Really appreciated that there was no 3rd act breakup.
I love Lauren's writing so much. This was a great story and I loved their chemistry. Thank you so much for the arc!
This one was cute quick and easy. Wren and Jesse were friends with benefits and ended because of a miscommunication.
Miscommunication tropes isn’t my thing, but I loved Wren, thought their second chance was great and absolutely adored the side characters. The spice was pretty good and I always love and alpha male.
Thank you Montlake, Lauren Landish, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance’s copy of this book in exchange for my review.
I wanted to love this book, but it kinda fell flat for me. Wren and Jesse were a couple you root for and want to be excited about but I felt like Jed and Chrissy overtook the story and the focus wasn’t on Wren and Jesse so much of the time. I was disappointed by this and I really felt like it took away from the true story. That being said, I would be more than happy to give this author another chance!
LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS BOOK. Lauren is such a great writer because WOW. This is my first book from her, and I would definitely be getting more. The love story, the banter, everything was top-notch for me. Love them.
This was a fun book that felt a little less like a romance than a story about saving the town of Cold Springs from Jed Ford, again. Because of the focus on the divorce, it gave the plot a unique spin on the friends with benefits trope.
I loved Wren and Jesse. They were both so hung up on each other and their miscommunication led them to doubt they were enough for each other. I loved that both these successful, confident people could be so conflicted about their value. Wren was the city attorney and had made a name for herself in a male-dominated career, but she was under the impression that she was “too much”. While Jesse, who grew up in a blue-collar family and worked a blue collar job, felt like he wasn’t enough. I loved the juxtaposition of that. And I loved their continued support for each other.
There was plenty of humor in this book, I thought the first book had a little more humor, but this was still a great romcom. It was sweet and funny with a good sense of small-town camaraderie. I loved how Jesse and Wren loved each other and how after they resolved the miscommunication they accepted each other and never doubted their feelings. Despite the miscommunication, they communicated very well after they finally got together.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a good escape. It kept me interested and was one of those books that just makes you feel good. I loved the ending and thought it was well thought out. Jed finally got what was coming to him and I loved the way the takedown came about!
You get some instant chemistry between these two and you'll be swept away with the cuteness that is this story. Such a fun read!
I received a copy of this for my honest review.
Our FMC and MMC used to be, well, something. But it ended with a miscommunication. It's been over a year and now they become embroiled in a local controversy. A divorce scandal that has the whole town gossiping. Our FMC is the town attorney, and since this divorce now encompasses the construction company set to build new houses for the town, she has to make sure the town is represented. The MMC is the foreman of the construction crew. After a girl's night reveals some true feelings - they finally work through their insecurities. Now working together they have to figure out what the best plan is to keep the construction moving, and protect the town.
This is a good book. The two main characters are Wren and Jesse. They have an instant chemistry. They had been dating but broke up about a year ago. Wren is the town’s lawyer. Jesse is a project manager for a construction company. They start dating again because they only want each other and fall in love.
The Wrong Guy is a fantastic heartfelt storyline that will leave you wanting more. You won’t want to put this one down until the very end. I am voluntarily leaving my honest review after reading this arc.
I’m convinced Lauren Blakely can’t write anything but amazing books! This was so enjoyable. The characters were related and the overall story was chef’s kiss!
JESSE FREAKING SULLIVAN. This man🥵 oh momma. The book starts with them.. you know. So I’m thinking we are going spicy the whole time! Not so much. Communication is not Wren and Jesse’s strong point. They are working on it! Figuring out their relationship with family drama is fun🙃
I really enjoyed this book. Wren is a force! She is strong but I love how Jesse compliments it. The drama was perfect with the story. I thought I was gonna hate Chrissy and Lucy but I was surprised to be cheering for them by the end!
The Wrong Guy is a fast paced small town romance. I really enjoyed the banter between the two main characters. This was a friends to lovers which who does t love that trope! I would 100% recommend for a quick read
Wren and Jesse… were together then apart and find themselves together again. I loved their banter and connection. Loved how he is there for her and taking care of her. Loved watching them fall in love!
I had a hard time connecting with the main characters. The actions of the MMC threw me off. I wasn't a fan of the nickname he called Wren or how he dominated out of jealousy. This shouldn't deter those who enjoy those qualities. That being said, I did like Wren. She's a lawyer with a fierce attitude. There were some adorable moments between Wren and Jesse. Jesse is a protective man and knows how to treat a lady but the alpha male vibe didn't resonate with me. I want to note that the side characters were amazing. :) I loved the antics of the aunt and just how realistic she was portrayed as a woman scrorned. The intimate scenes were well written and I would suggest this book for those who want tons of spice. I plan to give the first book of this series a chance and look forward to checking out more books by Lauren.
Tropes: Miscommunication, Alpha Male, and Lots of Spice.
Love Always, Catherine
I received an advanced review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I really enjoyed this book and ready it in one sitting, it had the perfect amount of banter and angst between the two main characters which I absolutely love. It was also funny and had me laughing on several occasions. The setting of the book and the side characters fitted really well into the story, which made it just perfect for me. Would definitely recommend this!
The most unlikely of lovers, Wren and Jesse spend the majority of the book laboring under the assumption that the other isn’t a good fit. But, as with all good romances, facing the bad guy together United them in more ways than one.
Lauren Landish successfully spins another tale of longing between two outwardly appearing opposites that just might be perfect for one another.
it's hard for me to like friends to lovers, but friends with benefits to lovers, is one of my favorite tropes and this one didn't disappoint one bit, so i recommend it.
This is a delightful second chance romance set in the small town of Cold Springs. Wren and Jesse, despite their undeniable chemistry, struggle with communication and commitment issues. As they navigate their friends-with-benefits relationship, they are thrust into the midst of a high-profile divorce that impacts both their personal and professional lives. Despite their misunderstandings and miscommunications, Wren and Jesse's love for each other shines through, eventually leading to a satisfying happily ever after. With engaging banter, heartwarming moments, and unexpected twists, "The Wrong Guy" offers readers a compelling mix of romance, humor, and drama.
