POV: Dual
Spice: 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️
This book starts with a bang and I’m here for this kind of fast burn! It then kind of goes to slow burn while we figure out what happened between Jesse and Wren and the mystery as to why they are apart. I liked that they were already in love with each other from the beginning, but neither of them knew it.
I’m not a huge fan of the miscommunication trope, which is what keeps these two apart, but luckily that part is resolved pretty early on! The way Jesse has his own insecurities but loves Wren exactly as she is so sweet. I do feel like the romance in this book takes a bit of a back seat to the other drama going on that they are dealing with, but it still makes for an interesting story.
Opposites attract with funny small town shenanigans, this was a quick and easy read I didn’t want to put down!
This is a light and easy romcom with an edge of drama. Great fun with likeable Jesse, a construction worker and Wren, an uptight lawyer. They are great together and friends with benefits works a treat, until it doesn't. Cold Springs is their town, with local shenanigans, friendship groups, too many assumptions, and meddling and mischief to work through. It works well, maybe not as heartfelt as some of Lauren's writing, but an excellent afternoon's reading. So good to see them together when everything is sorted!
Thank you so much to Lauren Landish, Montlake and NetGalley for the ARC.
A great read. Jesse thinks he is not good enough for Wren but will they have a second chance? Loved both characters.
What a great small-town story of lies, deception, love, and surprises.
Wren Ford and Jesse Sulivan have a family history in Cold Springs. They are meant for each other but neither can see that just yet. When Wren's family has a dynamic blowup, it will be up to her to make things right for the town, her, and Jesse.
It's a great story that has surprises and lots of funny moments as well as heat between our couple. I love the characters, especially the supporting characters. This book kept my attention from beginning to end and I enjoyed it.
This second chance romance is the 2nd book of the Cold Springs series, but can be read as a standalone. This said, however, I kinda felt like I was missing some background at the start because I didn’t read the first book. But luckily the necessary info was revealed lateron.
Cold Springs is a small town where Wren Ford is the city attorney working on the Township deal.
Also in town is Jesse who is not so silently pining for Wren , eventhough she doesn’t seem to be aware. When the town is rocked by the high-profile divorce threatening township, the whole community comes together against ‘uncle Jed’.
This Dual POV small town romance is a second chance – opposites attract – love story.
With lots of pining between Jesse and his little birdie, but due to their own insecurities and bad communication skills it takes them a while to come back together. Resulting in fiery moments with banter and spice between the two, while they are also working together with the people in town to get the best for Township.
I took me a while to get into the story and find my reading vibe. For some reason I can not pin-point, I personally didn’t click with the writing style from the start.
Thank you to Montlake and NetGalley for the chance to read a free advanced copy of this ebook in exchange for an honest review.
Wren and Jessie have the friends with Benefits down solid, but both secretly wants it to be more. They have a problem of communication between them, so they split due to this. What happens when the wrong guy turns out to be Mr. right instead of? Will they be able to work it out for themselves and solve other things that come up?
Wren and Jesse were casual and comfortable with their arrangement. No strings and lots of s3x. It works for them, or rather it did, until it didn't and they grew apart.
Jesse's family is close and they mean everything to him. Wren grew up as the mayor's daughter, so there's that. Even though he's not the mayor now, her family is still well respected in Cold Springs. Wren has worked hard for her position as the city attorney and the respect she receives is well earned. Jesse works for her uncle Jeb at Ford's Construction running crews. Jesse's always believed that Wren was way out of his league and her ghosting him only solidified that truth.
When a housing development is brought to a standstill due to an indiscretion, the town of Cold Springs and it's residents are fearful for their livelihood. Just as Jesse and Wren reconnect, a slick lawyer has arrived to help, but this guy has his eyes on more than just his client, he wants the only woman Jesse has wanted for years. Wren.
Fantastic storyline with great main characters and a wide assortment of secondary characters that bring a lot to the table. Filled with tension, twists and emotion, this book flowed effortlessly. A brilliant, fast paced read that will leave you wanting more! I highly recommend this book!!!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book provided by NetGalley.
An amusing romance juxtaposed against a contentious divorce sees Wren and Jesse get a well-deserved second chance.
We get a whole lot of steamy hotness right out of the gate between Wren and Jesse, and they keep that intense chemistry burning until the end. It was a silly misunderstanding that caused their split, but it was also very realistic. Both of them displayed plenty of jealousy, but they didn’t let it get them down.
I enjoyed their journey back to each other, and the way Wren dealt with the messy divorce proceedings of her uncle and aunt. The story was filled with plenty of fun banter and light-hearted moments that made for a pleasing read. If you like a steamy second-chance romance, then this is for you. Wren and Jesse tell the story in turns in the first person. Even though it's part of a series, it stands well on its own.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Due to her family and her career as a lawyer Wren is considered part of the upper echelon in her hometown. She has been enjoying a casual relation with Jesse however her feelings for him run deeper and they drifted apart. With her uncle’s scandalous divorce, they now find themselves working together to ensure the completion of a construction project which will bring up unresolved feelings once again.
Jesse believed that Wren deserved more than he could offer her, so he distanced himself from her. Being that he is part of the management of the construction company that is affected by Wren’s uncle’s divorce it will have them spending time together once again. A little competition from a third party will force him to face his feelings for her and ensure that she realizes the only person she belongs with is him.
Witty banter, a little turmoil, great chemistry and all the feels will keep you entertained not only with their romance but with the rest of the townspeople as well.
This story was so much fun! I loved the characters. Especially Jesse. And Wren, even when I wanted to shake her, I was rooting for her. There's also just the right dose of angst. But for me it was the humor. I laughed until I had tears running.
I didn't realize this book was part of a series, so I read it as a stand alone and was able to follow the story with no issues. I loved the characters and small town feel. There are a lot of great secondary characters that contribute to the story with strong main characters. It's a great second chance romance with plenty of spice. It had a lot of Hart of Dixie feels. There is lots of humor with occasional drama, but it made for a great mix!
Thank you to Lauren Landish, the publishing company, and NetGalley for a copy of the book.
I love this series! Thank you @netgalley and @lauren_landish for this Arc.
Wren hooked up with her best friend brother Jesse a few months back. Wren thinks Jesse doesn’t want her because she’s too much to handle and Jesse thinks he’s not good enough for her despite him keeping an eye on her from a far. Add in some town drama and their love story and you have a magical book. PS. Jesse is a dream book boyfriend ❤️

As usual, I enjoyed Lauren’s newest release “The Wrong Guy” I can always count on a true connection between the FMC and MMC.
This book didn’t grab me from the start like they usually do, it started off a bit slow for me this time. However, I am never disappointed with Lauren’s stories so I pushed through and I am glad I did.
I loved watching Wren’s and Jesse’s relationship grow and enjoyed the side characters just as much. I was pleasantly surprised as how this story turned out!
This was my first Lauren Landish book but it definitely won't be my last. This was such a fun book! I loved the way the author set the scene with both guys in Wren's life and enjoyed watching Wren wrestle through her feelings. Easy to read, I managed to finish this book in one sitting. Such a great romance, highly recommend!
Lauren Landish delivers a romance that is both heartwarming and entertaining. While also bringing spice and characters that are well-developed. This is an engaging and adorable read that will have you laughing out loud. I would recommend this book for anyone wanting to have a good time while reading a book!!
Thank you NetGalley and Montlake for allowing me to read this ARC in advanced for my honest opinion.
Oh, the chemistry between those two is palpable. Loved the banter and everything about them. The setting and the storyline were good. I will check out the 1st book in the series that I missed and the future ones. Thanks to the author, Montlake, and NetGalley for the ARC.
Tired of all the arrogant billionaires? This one’s for you! Wren is ambitious, successful attorney. Jesse is carefree, muscled construction worker. They are best of friends with benefits. Their secret identities?? You might have guessed it! Each of them is head over heels for the other…each thinking the other wouldn’t want more.
This is the 2nd story in the Cold Spring Series. We get the journey of Wren and Jesse finding themselves in with work, family and love. Wren makes a hasty decision due to a misunderstanding it causes them both heartache for a year. Jesse knows he doesn’t deserve Wren but secretly loves her giving her time and space to come back to him. When Jed and Chrissy divorce it sets the whole town in an uproar and Wren the city lawyer is put right in the middle. With a hot young lawyer, Oliver from out of town comes to represent Chrissy against the town villain, Jed things get crazy. Oliver tries to makes things more than professional, Jesse sees it and gets jealous pushing him to take matters into his own hands and oh boy does he! Wren does everything in her power to protect her family, friends and town. When Oliver’s true colors come out Wren handles it just perfectly. Jesse is Wren’s other half and the realize their love is worth fighting for! I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book from NetGalley. .
Wren and Jesse story well if only these two would communicate better. Their relationship takes on a new dynamic, they mesh well, they have banter in this small town romance. It was entertaining and I can imagine what the audio version will be like.
When the wrong guy is the right guy...
And the right guy is the wrong guy. Jesse. He's a genreal contractor, hooking up with Wren for over a year. He falls first.
Wren a lawyer, afraid to say the words. Instead, Jesse and Wren waste months avoiding talking about what they want (hint, its each other and the smoking hot sexy times they have that bookend this book). Jesse thinks he's not good enough for the lawyer princess. Wren is just going along with the status quo.
Jesse and Wren are fun and foxy with plenty of steamy times.
Recommend.
