I thought that this was a great book!!
The storyline was really enjoyable and I loved the book from cover to cover.
The characters strong and had well developed personalities
It was a romantic and sexy read
It is 4 stars from me for this one – highly recommended!
Wren, a city attorney for Cold Springs and Jesse, a local construction were friends with benefits but the benefits ended a year ago because of a misunderstanding. Jesse is basically in love with her but thinks she's out of his league and Wren thinks that she was just another notch in his bedpost.
It's a very cute, funny and steamy romance mixed with big drama in a small town - a cheating husband who has an important neighborhood development and the divorce that will affect lots of town people.
This definitely gave me Knockemout vibes. The writing flows well, the characters are all unique, their are some laugh out loud scenes and what I like to call "vanilla spicy scenes." after reading dark romance spicy scenes...LOL
If you like Lucy Score you would enjoy these books.
I had the chance to read this as an ARC through Netgalley and have mixed feelings about this book. I really enjoyed the first book in the series and had couldn't wait to hear about Wren and Jesse. Although their budding romance was seen throughout the book, it felt like the book was more focused on the divorce proceedings with Wren's uncle. This part really took away my love for the story as it seemed to be so much about that and the relationship between the two main characters was more on the "backburner". If I focused on just the relationship aspects between them, it was a very good story. I definitely will be continuing this series, if there end up being more!
Sometimes the wrong guy can be the perfect one at the end of the day. Watching Wren and Jesse, figure things out was truly fun. The banter, the unforgettable townsfolk; you feel like you are there cheering them on. An amazing read by a favorite author.
This Lauren Landish series has been great. Easily becoming a quick comfort read and something easy to pick up when I didn't know what else to read, to know Im just going to sit there and enjoy the worlds. Loves as always
Loved reading the engaging and captivating romance story. When Wren, a lawyer, is having dinner with Oliver, another lawyer, Jesse, Wren's ex-boyfriend, doesn't like it at all. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, and a must read riveting love story by the amazing author, Lauren Landish.
Thanks to Netgalley, the publishing company and or the author for giving me the chance to read and review The Wrong Guy.
It's a cute romance.
The characters have great chemistry towards each other. The plot was kind of bland for my taste.
Wren is the city attorney for Cold Springs―a job she takes seriously. Good thing she has a great form of stress a friends-with-benefits arrangement with the well-muscled and very attentive construction worker Jesse Sullivan. Wren’s heart secretly craves more, but how can she fess up her feelings to a man who doesn’t want to get tied down? Jesse is head over heels in love with Wren, but he can’t picture a happily ever after.
What would an attorney and out-of-his-league goddess want with him? Especially when a flirty, cocky lawyer who screams money and power shows an interest in Wren. As a scandalous high-profile split escalates from name-calling to corporate takeovers, Wren and Jesse must team up to find a way to protect the people and the town they love. And everyone in Cold Springs is rooting for them to figure out that maybe, against all odds, they’re made for each other.
This book was adorable! I loved Wren and Jesse together, even if it took them long enough to figure it out. The secondary characters were also delightful.
Thanks to NetGalley and Montlake for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
Wren and Jesse are working together to try to stop some high-profile divorce proceedings to ruin their town. In the process they have to come to terms with the fact that their friends-with-benefits arrangement may be something more.
Jesse is a no-nonsense construction worker and in my view the most rememberable character in this story. Wren on the other hand seemed a bit ditsy despite being the city attorney; her mentor/ predecessor on the other hand is a right character!!
Some clever twists and turns, but a lot of unnecessary spice, including the beginning of the book, detracts from what could have been an amazing story.
The right five-stare read for you. The is the second book in the Cold Springs series, but they can be read as stand alone, as each book tells us a different couple’s story, with the setting and background characters staying the same, I have read them both and loved them both, but you don’t need to. Wren is like the woman I want to be when I’m grown up, and I am older than she is, she just has that air of knowing where she is in life and who she is, even if she isn’t sure about her relationship status, she knows it doesn’t matter, there are other men out there. That makes her such a powerful character to read, and when you throw in a man in hotdog PJs you know you have it all, humour, sense of strength strong enough to pull those dogs off, and heart. Cold springs is about to get shaken, but Wren is there to keep it whole, no matter how shady the other side, or a certain lawyer are.
This one kinda broke my heart in the way that it just didn’t live up to what I had hoped for. The plot was thick and had so many twists and turns and became the main focus on the book, but the relationship between Jesse and Wren was just meh. There was no spark, no development, no love felt between the two. They were almost like just tossed in as side characters to the story and it just felt unnatural. I know maybe the story wasn’t fully supposed to be about them, but their relationship felt so fake and so just blah. He was trying to be this rough and tough guy, while she was the smart gal, but the author just didn’t flesh those out. So what if he builds houses and she’s a lawyer? That doesn’t mean Jack if the story isn’t developed! Also, tossing Oliver in as a distractor sounded great, but he literally had zero pizzaz or enticement to even like - he was just ugly in the general sense of his expectations of Wren because she’s female. Just blah. The rest of it, though, was decent. Lots of characters with similar names made it become confusing at points, lots of extra information that didn’t really help nor harm the story, and lots of jokes (which were lovely to have amongst some of the storyline). Overall, not a book I’d pick up and read and say YES, that was it! Because it wasn’t. But, giving stars for the plot itself because yeah, that kept me interested!
I had faith in this book to convince me to love friends to lovers. Regardless, these two were friends with benefits. It all started great until the drama with the biggest divorce in motion the small town had ever seen started. Then it was all about those two people and no longer about the MCs.
I was bored. I managed to get through half of the book I think but just didn't want to read more about third persons so I DNF-ed.
Wren and Logan had a friends with benefits releationship and it worked great til Wren decided to split up.
But Logan wants her back and Wren has nobody who wants her dating, til Oliver another lawyer who is part of the biggest divorce the city has ever seen.
Great story, very surprising.full of misunderstandings.
Great persons.
I want more.
Have fun reading!
The Wrong Guy by L. Landish, published by Montlake is a best friends with benefits romance.
Wren is an attorney that takes her job very seriously.
Jess is a construction worker in love with Wren, and vice versa.
On the other side there are some things that divide. Can they make it work?
A flirty, witty and fun read, that I very much enjoyed reading.
Wren Ford is the city attorney for a small town called Cold Springs. She used to date Jesse, a construction worker hired by her uncle to build a series of houses for Cold Springs (called Township), but they split up. Wren is about to take over as lead attorney for the city when she learns that her uncle cheated on her aunt and her aunt hires a hot-shot attorney to represent her in the divorce. Since her uncle and aunt own a huge part of the real estate in town, including the new Township project, Wren is involved as city attorney, and Jesse as the construction worker who is working on the project. Now Wren and Jesse need to work together to make sure the Township project is saved so that many low-income families have a roof over their heads.
The book is very sex oriented, especially the first half of the book. For example there’s talk with grandpa about who is ‘getting any’, the subject is discussed or thought about or someone is flirting with someone else, and the F-word is used at least once or more on almost every single page. Wren is even hit on by her aunts attorney.
The story almost seems to be on the back burner, and it’s clearly fictional and a bit comical. Wren for example has no issue with breaking attorney-client privilege, Wren’s aunt’s attorney is constantly hitting on her, the waitresses at the local restaurant are known on hitting on customers and making comments that in this day and age would have a sexual harassment lawsuit as a result. Wren’s aunt Chrissy is trashing the Township project that is not only(for 50%) payed for by herself, but is also hurting the future owners and occupants.
If you love a comic with lots of sex, go ahead and read this book because you will love it!
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for providing an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
This is a delightful read that delivers what we expect from Lauren Landish. The small town centered plot is something that resonates with many readers and pairs well with the missed connection main relationship. The family relationships and quirky members only add to the fun of the novel, making it a quick read. Will definitely be on the lookout for more additions to this series.
Thanks netgalley for ARC of this book.
I'm sorry but it was out of my league...I just can't see why the very first chapter of this book have to start with intercourse...I mean really
Don't know why it has to be like that....why I just cannot find any decent and interesting book to hold my attention but this was not for me...everything from plot to story to characters....just had to DNF .
a swoon worthy romcom that definitely needs to go onto your tbr. this was my first lauren landish read and definitely will not be the last.
I absolutely loved this book! Love this author and she's always a one click for me! Thabjs Netgalley for the ARC
This book was cute. I may have been a little lost because I didn't read the first one, so I will go read that one, and then come back and edit my review if needed.
I wish the story would have focused a little more on Wren/Jesse's relationship, and not the town drama. I understand that the town drama is what brings Wren and Jesse back together, but I feel like their resolution was rushed. I do love Wren and Jesse's dynamic together, and they work wonderfully as a couple!
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for this book in exchange for an honest review.
