Full of drama and suspense. Perfect for those who likes to be kept in the edge of their seats. Enjoyable vampire romance with steamy and light scenes. Total must read on any fantasy shelf.
I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and look forward to the rest of the series.
I enjoyed how the story is written and I liked the characters.
I have already bought the series to be able to read it all
Ooooo one sentence spicy nicey !!! Haha loved this right up my street and filled a gap for my vampire love !!! It’s been a while !!! Can’t wait to read the rest now !!!
It’s coming up to #SpookySeason so it’s time I got my spooky reading ducks in a row. I requested this book from NetGalley LAST year because I thought the name was hilarious.
I kept calling it “filthy dirty vampire” and then laughed at that too. In the end I somehow never got around to reviewing it so here we are at last; better late than never as they say!
I hadn’t realised when I started this that it’s actually part of a successful series of four books. Julian Rousseaux is the eponymous filthy rich (dirty) vampire. He’s expected by his family to pick a mate but he’s the original f*ckboy and wants to be single for ever (literally).
He meets human and talented cellist Thea and finds himself unnaturally attracted to her, and strikes up a deal; she pretends to be his girlfriend to fend off his family’s matchmaking ways and in return he’ll show her the world. Vampire/human high jinks ensue.
This is a spicy one🔥
I should say I’m not the target audience for books like this. I like vampire stories; I’m a big Buffy and Lost Boys fan but vampire-sexy romance isn’t really my thing. Speaking of Buffy; old Julian likes to call Thea “pet” a lot. Very Spike coded but he’s no William the Bloody. IYKYK.
I like to read outside my preferred genres when I can because it keeps life interesting, so I’m glad I gave this a go but it’s just not for me. Although I do appreciate the world the author has created here; it’s detailed and easy to get lost in.
I feel like if you enjoy fantasy books and a sexier read then you’ll like this one!
The four books in the series are very popular over on goodreads. Fans of Twilight and 50 Shades will gravitate towards these too, and even more so if you want to tailor your reading for Halloween but would prefer to avoid the scarier stuff.
With many thanks to @netgalley and @dialoguepublishing for my copy. All opinions are my own, as always.
An ancient bloodline of vampires,, witches magic and plenty of spice. I loved this book so much that I now need to devour the entire series! 5 Stars.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of the novel in exchange for an honest review.
I really really wanted to love this book.
Gossip girls meets Vampires? Why wouldn’t I love it.
But unfortunately I just didn’t.
INITIAL REACTION
The first thing for me was that Julian’s instant, almost obsessive connection to Thea was very much reminiscent of Edward in Twilight. How Thea was an innocent, ‘nothing special’ girl who gave up any of her own thoughts and feelings to follow along with a vampire she’s just met was also very much Bella. Throughout the book I couldn’t stop thinking it was essentially Twilight, but raunchier,
CHARACTERS
Although I didn’t really enjoy either of our main characters, I did like learning about the vampire families and the witches, how they connect throughout their history was quite interesting. I also really enjoyed the friendships between Thea and her roommates, I’d love to have seen more of them.
STORYLINE
This book really didn’t have a cohesive storyline at all. It felt like it was very much about the angst and smutty scenes between our two main characters, with a bit of family drama thrown in for good measure just to stir it up, The ‘Rites’ seemed quite random and not very well carried throughout the plot line.
There was so much more I’d have liked to explore in this book, such as the vampires histories and a deeper look into the magic - I do think these parts had great potential. I would also have liked a bit more vampire-y action! I came looking for vampires and beyond one feeding scene there really wasn’t much going on in that sense.
The last 10% of the book is when the real ‘plot’ started to move forward, with a few twists and some suspense that actually drew me in. This is the redeeming factor that would make me potentially want to continue this series.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with an e-arc of this book.
This book is like Bridgerton meets the Vampire Diaries, as the MMC is an old vampire who is trying to avoid the marriage season that his mother is pushing him into so agrees to a fake relationship with the human FMC. The tension between the two in the book is palpable from their very first encounter, and their different ways of life make for a very interesting read.
I was very invested in the relationship between the two, but I also really enjoyed learning about all the side character's too. Justine was my favourite, as she had both of their best interests at heart.
I am really intrigued to see where the rebellion goes in the future books, and what happens after the way this book ended, as it was quite the ending!
Thank you for my eARC of this book, though I enjoyed this, I found it lacking in places which made me loose interest at times.
Filthy Rich Vampire is a book with an intriguing premise. As a read it's slightly predictable but has likeable characters and enough suspense that it keeps you engaged and turning the pages.
Whilst this started out strong, the miscommunication became more of a drag than a plot push, and left me feeling as though this could have been so much more. It was entertaining enough, but sadly did not live up to the promise.
Very much on the Spicy book trend with fantasy being included. I wasn't gripped from the start but it did get better the more I read. If you're looking to read some vampire fiction.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC.
Only rating 1* as I didn’t get the opportunity to read before it was archived.
However, I’m interested to read this if the opportunity presents itself.
Thank you for the chance to read this book in advance. Unfortunately this was not for me and I was unable to complete the book. As this was not for me, I have not completed a review online. If you still we wish to publish a review, please let me know.
When I saw this on netgalley advertised as Bridgerton meets twilight, I was sold! I can see why it was depicted this way. At times it felt a little disjointed, but overall I enjoyed it and really want to know what happens next.
In the beginning I found this book slightly hard to get into. By chapter 4 I was obsessed! I finished it in the day, I love the characters and the story and immediately bought the next ones in the series!
On paper, this is my perfect book. Social season for vampires? Fake dating trope? San Francisco setting? Say less!
But unfortunately, I wasn't sucked in (sorry, bad pun). This isn't a bad book at all, and I think a lot of people will really enjoy it, so I will definitely still be hand-recommending and hand-selling it. I'm just really not a fan of the miscommunication trope, and it was here in spades.
This one was ok for me. Julian and Thea melted my heart with the love they had for each other and I loved how their relationship developed. Although I was so mad at the end!! Julian!! His mother!! Looking forward to book 2, he better sort this out in the next one!
Not my normal cup of tea but this book offers a tantalizing blend of romance, mystery, and the supernatural, weaving together an addictive tale that keeps readers hooked from beginning to end.
Yesssss this was so good I ate this one up! I love snarky vampires and this delivered!! Can’t wait for book 2!
This book completely took me by surprise!
It’s definitely for fans of romance. Having an air of twilight/fifty shades.
The beginning was a little slow but once I had time to sit and focus on it I flew through the chapters!
The ending, a nice cliff hanger, leaving me eager to read the next one asap x
