The premise was interesting, however the execution wasn't really for me.
Maybe I'm just getting to old for young adult books or maybe this book just wasn't for me.
To be fair, I didn't finish it so I can't actually give a thorough review. From what I did read, I realised that this book just wasn't holding my interest so it was time to move on.
This was fun - fake dating goes vampire style! This was a really enjoyable read full of laughs and angst. The perfect remedy for a cold autumn day.
This isn’t a standalone. It’s a series and I hate it when I’m suckered into reading a book that I think is complete - only to discover on the last page that it doesn’t end properly and that the story actually carries on for three more books. No, I don,it like that at all.
This lacked proper world building and I got so bored that I gave up and skimmed it. I think others who are into the Vampire world may enjoy this but it’s definitely not for me.
I received an ARC from NetGalley in return for an honest review..
From the get go, the whole premise of the book intrigued me.
Having devoured Bridgerton and being of fan of vampire books, this sounded like the ideal package.
I enjoyed the emphasis on tradition that Geneva weaved into this story and the MMC has a certain charm.
My only critique would be that it felt a little rushed.
A little too insta love for me BUT I will definitely be reading the rest of the series.
I enjoyed the premise of the book - a vampire social season, powerful vampires and their familiars, magic and mystery all make for a book I’d reach for any day, but it missed the mark a little for me.
It was an easy read and I enjoyed the simplicity of the plot - though I felt like the descriptions were a little repetitive and the “issues” between the main characters seemed to circle throughout the book in a “will they, won’t they”, tiresome kind of way.
There were multiple mentions of mating, being bonded and of tethering - I felt none were explained explicitly but seemed interchangeable to me and therefore somewhat confusing.
