The romance was pretty insta-lust. So if this isn’t your thing, I would steer clear. There aren’t any love confessions until… well, things happen and it happens later on that but I’m not going to spoil. I love fake dating, and I like forbidden love. This book felt like a good series opener and I can see that it has a potential. I'm interested to continue the series.
This was a fun read! I loved the lore around the vampires in this one and the love story was so charming. I'd recommend to anyone who enjoys romance with a little bit of paranormal/fantasy mixed in!

If someone told me that this was Fifty Shades of Grey fanfiction AU retelling with vampires I would believe them.
While not as bad as it could be it's still pretty dire.
Julian is a misogynistic jerk who flashes from hot to cold, possessive to passive so quick you get whiplash and Thea is the thirstiest virgin who ever lived. The rest of the characters are peripheral so far but seem very clichéd- on the vampire side we have an over bearing matriarch, a playboy brother, countless orgies and drug habits. Then poor human Thea has medical bills from her mom's cancer and her dream is to be a cello player but she's so poor and is working two jobs and gosh if only someone had some money. Julian can't keep his eyes off her, she's not like other girls yet she's so ordinary. She wants to explore the dark side but she's so innocent.
While the idea of witches as familiars and vampires being able to have children is interesting, there are so many questions and plot holes that I'm guessing this is going to be a multi-book story and the writing is just not good enough to keep my interest. 61% in and I literally don't care.
I've never read any of Geneva Lee's other books but I do love a good Vampire story so was keen to give this one a go. It’s quite a steamy read and perhaps a bit more True Blood meets Fifty Shades than Twilight meets Bridgerton.
A great read and I'm already excited for the next one to see what’s next for Thea and Julian 🧛♂️
After reading the ARC of this book, I have two questions…
1 - Where do I sign up for cello lessons?
2 - Why is this book not getting the hype it most definitely deserves?
Honestly, I was excited to read this book from the outset as it had lots of my favourite tropes in: vampires, fated mates, touch her and die, dark romance etc. Geneva Lee has truly mastered so many of these tropes in this book! Julian Rousseaux is now on my list of great book boyfriends (for all of the reasons that we have come to love) and partnered with Thea, a demure cellist who found herself needing Julian’s protection from the outset, this FMC and MMC are a great duo. They have a great banter between them and there were many points throughout the story that were masterful: romantic, cute, funny, sassy and swoon-worthy.
I eagerly devoured this book in one sitting, because just when I thought I had figured out the ending… plot twists completely turned my theories upside down! As soon as I had finished this book, I was immediately online looking to see how quickly I could purchased the remaining books in the series! This is definitely in my top ten for the year so far. The plot, the characters, the world building are great - I could imagine being there with them! There was a good amount of spice throughout, and whilst the spice was good, it wasn’t overly explicit.
I will be adding all of Geneva Lee’s books to my TBR (and will most likely be putting them quite high on the list!). I cannot recommend this book enough and I cannot wait to continue the series - especially after the cliffhanger ending in this book!
Thank you NetGalley, Geneva Lee, Dialogue Books and Renegade Books for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Overall I enjoyed this book! An easy fun read and I am so glad that vampires are back. A cliche story of a human and vampire but I enjoyed the additional characters and will be excited to read the next!
I’m not sure how to review this book. It’s the well worn story of a rich gorgeous vampire falling in love with a mortal who, for some reason, he can’t compel and meanwhile her mum is sick with cancer (but she never goes to see her and ends up going on a jaunt around France instead??!!)
For most of the book the only threat is in the form of one masked vampire who gatecrashes a party and then… does nothing. There is every trope and cliche that you’d expect and it’s a bit slow in parts BUT it’s warm and funny with a dash of spice and I read the whole thing in a couple of days. The ending - and the return of the masked vampires - sets it up nicely for book 2 and, damn it, I have to read it to find out what happens next. So yeah, it’s a bit cliched in parts but overall an enjoyable read.
It was an interesting read, I enjoyed the storyline and the characters, however overall I don’t think this is for me. I don’t feel that the blurb really portrayed the story that was being told.
It was a good first read by this author but not sure I’d read any future ones.
You had me at ‘Filthy Rich Vampire’! What’s not to love about that title and gorgeous cover! Loved this dark, spicy tale and couldn’t put it down. More please! 5 stars!
I would like to thank, Dialogue books, Renegade Books. Net Galley and Geneva Lee for giving me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Some parts of this books were really interesting I was fully interested in the first 15% of the book. I like the MMC I like the world building.
But I did get a little bored of the constant mention about how the FMC virtue was a key point of the plot.
Overall it was an interesting book and had some interesting parts. The tension was good! I love tension! There was banter, another thing I love in a book. The secondary characters were interesting too I found myself intrigued by them too. Am i glad I read it? Absolutely! Will I read the next book? Probably the cliffhanger had me hooked.
Ok, so first off, this isn't a romance. There's no HEA, and there's not even a happy for now ending. I get this isn't supposed to be a standalone novel, but it really cannot be billed as romance because of the ending.
That aside, the book was. . . fine. I enjoyed it enough to finish it, but I felt a lack of connection between the characters, and I think I'm now at the point where I'm just a bit uneasy about books where men (even 900 year old vampiric men) act in coercive and controlling ways. There are multiple points in the book where she asks him to leave her alone or not stop her, and he over rides that, sometimes by physically picking her up. That's not sexy, it's abusive, and I'm pretty over books confusing the two. Maybe that's a me problem.
The cliff hanger has left me breathless!!! I need to read more now. The characters have you falling in love with them right away. There’s tension and chaos and plot, and delivers on all of them. Couldn’t recommend this more!
Genuinely enjoyed this book although any allusions to Bridgerton don't make a lot of sense! The mentions of Jane Austen are a little contrived too but this book absolutely stands on its own merits. This hit the spot in terms of being an entertaining read, with some unique approaches to vampirism and a vampiric society, with the political rumblings you might expect, going on in the background. The male love interest is a very old, very rich vampire who somehow manages to be charming, in spite of the odds being stacked against him, and our female protagonist is easy to root for and somehow walks that line of naivete that's sweet and endearing. It's very much a story about two people from very disparate backgrounds with all the drama that involves.
The book ends on a cliffhanger (thank goodness there are more books to read). Do I want to know what happens next? Absolutely.
Talk about a wild ride! Spice, fake dating, banter, and vampires - what more could you want?! A fun new take on vampires and witches, and one hell of a cliffhanger!!!!
Great start to a series! Plenty of action, wonderful characters and some spicy scenes thrown in for good measure! I really hope to see more of a couple of the smaller characters in the future books because they were such fun! Loved the new take on vampire lore and rules as well but…you can’t end a book on such a cliff hanger with months to go before the next one is out 😫😂
Thank you Netgalley and author for the advanced ebook for exchange for my honest opinion and veiws.
This book was fun to read I did enjoy it as a spooky seasonal book, I do like Vampires and it was a nice pace and interesting characters that kept me reading. I wasn't blown away by this book as I've read similar vampire stories plus I just finished the amazing My Roommate is a Vampire, he was filthy rich wasn't arrogant and dark like Julian. Thea was boring to me but kept the story going I'm interested to see where this story leads with all the politics of vampire society and Thea being human.
Good read if you like snobby vampires and arranged marriages with fake dating.
This book feels like it was written for the tweens who loved ‘Twilight’ and grew up to love smut…
After somehow ending up playing as cellist at a Vampire ball, Thea ends up falling into the high society of vampire games and rituals.
A fun start to a series and I’m definitely ready to read the next book.
Thanks Dialogue books and NetGalleg for the ARC.
This certainly is an erotica, fantasy book. I struggled to begin with the depth of the sexual content. Once I’d got past this I enjoyed the characters and the story. A fantasy forbidden fairytale that in parts was similar to ‘twighlight’ fifty shades of grey and the vampire diaries to name a few. It was predictable in parts, shocking, emotional and interesting. I didn’t like the ending as I like a romantic finish. What is next for Julian? Please say there is a sequel because I need to know he’ll fight for her.
I've read Geneva Lee's other books, and she puts luxury into every single one of them. Filthy Rich Vampire was no exception! This book is full of glamour, sex appeal, wealth and hot vampires. I didn't know what to expect coming in, as it is different from Geneva's other books, but it DELIVERED. I was hooked on Thea and Julien from the first pages, and I am so OBSESSED I cannot even begin to express it. God, this book was sexy, and I devoured it with absolutely no regrets.
This book is a captivating journey through the depths of imagination. Its rich storytelling and well-developed characters kept me engaged from start to finish. With its thought-provoking themes, it transcends genres and offers something for every reader. A must-read for anyone seeking a literary adventure.
