I knew going into this that parrallels had been drawn between FRV and Twilight, but I really hoped it was wrong.
Sadly, it wasn't.
Brooding vampire who can't keep away from the human girl because her blood just smells too good to him? Check.
Constantly swinging between hot and cold with her? Check.
A reader who was just constantly frustrated over the fact that the miscommunication trope was used and abused to within an inch of its life? Check.
I wanted to love this. I really did. But it just didn't hit any of the right marks with me.
Filthy Rich Vampire is Hot, fast paced and compulsive reading. Once you start you just can't put it down, the only problem is, I'm very impatient waiting for the next installment! Please hurry up ! Loved it
Okay, Brooding vampire that doesn't explain himself and tries to avoid the human girl whosr blood smells so good, tries a lot to stay away from her, constantly runs hot & cold...sound familiar? I hate drawing parallels but this really felt like Twilight written for adults. But sadly the main characters don't seem to be any more mature. I don't mean to imply this is a bad story, the writing and the world building is nice, but I just kept getting frustrated with the lack of communication between the characters. Everytime Julian said "You don't understand" or "It's not what you think", I wanted to snap back at him to then explain what the hell it is for heaven's sake. I dislike the miscommunication trope and a lot of the drama could have just been avoided if Julian explained or if Thea put her foot down until she got an explanation. She literally stamps her foot in one of the scenes (mature right?) so she clearly knows how to. The chemistry, which is mostly based on Thea's unresistable smell, was lacking proper foundation and felt too rushed. Thea was willing to tie herself forever to this dude who actually terrifies her multiple times? Um sorry no, run away girl, just like he told you to.
Special thanks to Dialoge Books and Netgalley for providing me an advance copy of the ebook in exchange for an honest review.
Filthy Rich Vampire can be likened to the billionaire-type stories available but with a paranormal twist. It took me a few chapters to get hooked on the story, but once I was, I couldn't put the book down.
The passion between Julian Rousseaux, a very wealthy vampire, and human Cello player, Thea, is almost palpable. The story revolves around her discovering the vampire world and finding herself under the protection of Julian. Theirs is a forbidden relationship, and they both fight to stay within the boundaries of their 'working' relationship. They had a few passionate moments that were steamy hot, but written with no vulgarity, not written to shock.
Their story was exciting and the will they/won't they find a way to be together gave me such a huge sense of anticipation. I couldn't read the book quickly enough to find out how they managed it. I didn't realise that this was part one of a series and that it was going to end with their plight unresolved. When I finished the book I thought, NO! You can't leave me hanging like this!! I love a book that gets me so involved, but I really don't like cliffhangers and having to wait to find out what happens next!
The book had some gruesome scenes, some passionate, some sad, and of course, some lighthearted moments. It is a very captivating story and a great start to a new series.
I loved this book! I devoured it in fact. I am left so enthralled by it ending so suddenly I have to get my hands on the next book in the series, I need to know what happens next! This was book 1 of 4 and was definitely Bridgerton meets twilight with an extra spicy and utterly compelling and believable twist. I loved the narrative, the characters, the unexpected twists and turns, I couldn’t t praise the author enough for a magnificent read. Thank you so much for this ARC in return for a fair review but I now need to head straight to my kindle to download the rest of this series immediately!
This was a reread for me and definitely glad I have had chance to get a second read.
It was fast paced and easy to follow.
But sometimes too fast paced. There was scenes that needed more especially The ball Thea attended alone.
Is she a little bit insane for running off to Paris after knowing the guy a week?
Yes
But I'm hoping the sequel is going to give the context of why as I was left with questions which is necessarily a bad thing.
The fact we get Theas and Julians sides works so well as there is so much information we need about both of them.
The spice level is mildly hot 🌶🌶🌶
The premise sounds promising, with a social season, high society, fake dating environment spiced up with the addition of vampires, unfortunately I just couldn’t get into it.
It didn’t help that the file I received to review wasn’t formatted in any way at all, with paragraphs and conversation kind of mashing into each other. It made it a bit jarring to follow the story, maybe I’d have been more sucked in otherwise.
If you love an easy read, simple romance with some vampires, then this one for you.
Sadly it just didn’t do it for me.

I didn't vibe with this book at all, the pace is not really doing it for me. And I love twilight and enjoyed Bridgertone. Ehh anyway. I find it really weird that Thea is resistant to Julian but not the other vampire. I mean how does that work exactly. Honestly this book could have been shorter maybe then I would have enjoyed it more. It is also that I can not get attached or relate to the characters at all. I know this book was supposed to be a mash of twilight and bridgerton but I'm not getting it.
Really super, enjoyed this! The lack of sex though is a bit annoying though justified by the end! Thoroughly enjoyed it but the annoying thing is the series is out in the states but we cannot get the next book for another 5 months, and by the time that comes along I would have totally forgotten this one. I don't get into these kind of binge books until the whole series is out, it takes the kick out of the when they are released so far apart and you loose steam. Would like to read the next one asap!
I haven't read a vampire book for a long time, and after reading a few of the reviews likening it to Twilight, I really didn't know what to expect. It isn't anything like Twilight for one, if I had to compare it, it would definitely be more True Blood esque, but it's genuinely just a vampire book not related to others. It's fun, sexy and had me absolutely hooked devouring it in no time (excuse the pun). Fantastic and can't wait to read the other books
'Filthy Rich Vampire' by Geneva Lee bills itself as a modern-day regency/society romance with the added attraction of vampires. It definitely lives up to the billing and how Lee has managed to smash all of these tropes together and make it work so well is amazing!
I love the premise of Filthy Rich Vampire, and the world Lee has created for her characters, but I found the main characters themselves poorly constructed.
Julian is constantly keeping things from Thea because they're 'too complicated to explain' when the explanation is actually quite simple, leading to a lot of angst/misunderstandings that could have been avoided. Thea seems like a well-rounded character to start off with but really looses her defining personality traits part way through.
I was also under the impression that this was a stand-alone romance but it is definitely not. You and I will have to wait for the next book in the series to get any closure on the relationship or the mystery introduced at the end.
Soulmates or Starcrossed Lovers?💘🥺💔
I'm Invested.💘🩸🗡💥
Filthy Rich Vampire, Book 1
A nearly 1000 year old vampire, Julian, is woken after a 'nap' of nearly 50 years. He discovers that not much has changed, but also potentially, everything has, for him!💥
Thea is a 'jobbing' cellist. She's still a student and works as a waitress too. She's helping to pay off her mums medical bills from battling c@ncer!🙏🏼🫶🏼 She meets and is weirdly drawn to Julian. He seems grumpy, violent, but also tender. She can't seem to get her fight or flight instinct to work around him.👀
These two are battling an attraction that doesn't seem natural or healthy for either of them. Thea is so conciliatory, whereas Julian almost seems to be in a constant battle.😔
I'm definitely invested and can't wait for more.😍
(Thank you to both Netgalley and the Publisher for providing me with a free ebook copy of this title, without obligation.)

It's been a while since I've read a vampire book and I have to say that I really enjoyed "Filthy Rich Vampire" by Geneva Lee. I'm not sure if there are plans to write a series of books about the Rousseaux vampire clan but if the book/s want to compete against Anne Rice or the True Blood series then it would be interesting to learn about more of the family. However, as a stand alone book, I quite enjoyed indulging my guilty pleasure.
I loved the premise of this book, I’m a sucker for vampires & fake dating!
This was an easy, fast-paced read and there is promise here for it to be an interesting series. For me, however, this book didn’t hook me into wanting to continue the series.
The biggest issue for me was I was sold a fake-dating romance whereas it was more an insta-love storyline which then mainly focused on them being fated mates rather than fake-dating or the Rites.
I enjoyed the characters, especially Jacqueline, and I think that there’s room for all of them to be developed further. I would hope in the next book that Thea, in particular, is developed more as I think there’s a great opportunity from the cliffhanger to have her become stronger & less naïve.
If this was truly a fake-dating book and the plot was a little tighter, or if I even had at least a bit better idea of how the storyline was going to progress, I might be interested in continuing the series, but really, I wish this had been a standalone.
Thank you to Netgalley & the publishers for granting my request to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Vampire-human romance & fake engagement. Well written plot, easy to read & lovable characters.
Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for the ARC.
Hmm I'm undecided about this book if honest as initially I thought it was Twilight fanfic but perhaps not. Julian is our rich Vampire who meets Thea, young, pretty poor and really quite naive. I will go further and say she's a virgin and honestly a lot of this book revolves around that in spite of the couple doing ahem a variety of bedroom activities ! Add in an overbearing, controlling mother (his) and Vampire high society with balls, masquerades oh and the occasional blood drenched orgy ! So definitely not the usual paranormal romance and it has a cliff hanger ending which clearly invites the reader to continue and I think I might as I am intrigued by two very different females who technically we don't meet and yet I feel they are some way intrinsic to what happens next.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
Who doesn’t love a human/vampire love story? This is the story of Thea who is a cellist and from the second she lays eyes on Julian she cannot get enough of him. After a very short time Thea agrees to travel with Julian and they go to Paris. There the ritual of vampires marrying and siring children is in full force and Julian is supposed to take a wife. Unfortunately he only has eyes for Thea. I cannot wait to read more of Thea and Julian’s story,
The concept of this book is fantastic and pretty much everything I want in a book but it did read a little like fanfiction, especially with all the gasping Thea did and the hyperbole. It gave Thea’s character an immature narrative and paired with her only being twenty two, did make it a little uncomfortable. I would have liked to see a slightly older character with a more mature voice to avoid uncomfortable vulnerability in her as a love interest. That being said, there was plenty of drama and you never know quite what’s going to happen next with all these different society events as we’re seeing the vampire world through Thea’s eyes and she’s completely new to it, and it’s safe to say it’s not the same as the mortal world! I was interested to see how Julian and Thea would overcome the obstacles in their relationship and to see how their fake dating transformed into something else and this didn’t disappoint. It was definitely difficult to rate this book because whilst it wasn’t everything I hoped, I couldn’t stop thinking about the ending for days after I finished and now I’m keen to get my hands on the next book in the series!
I received a free copy of this book. All views are my own.
WOW!
This was my first read from this author and my goodness i was not disappointed.
I was left with tears in my eyes, an ache in my stomach and craving more.
This book is a dark, spicy, vampire romance and needs to be an entire series. I can't wait to read more
This sensual, provocative tale takes you on a journey into a world of dark magic, primal attraction, and breathtaking romance. Personally, I was initially skeptical due to the book's title, but I quickly became entranced by the vampire realm. The vivid descriptions of music and charming architecture collided beautifully with themes of love. An absolute must-read!
Thank you NetGalley & the author for an opportunity to read this. I'm already excited to read the following two books in this series.
