Ooh what a cliff hanger , I will be waiting for book 2 in anticipation. Loved the characters they felt real and gritty , I can see a real growth and change in the protagonist. Great story refreshingly different
It feels relatable and with a down-to earth hero. I liked the time-travelling part, and I did enjoy the book overall. The narrator did a very good job and it was easy to immerse myself in the world it was narrating. It kept my interested throughout the book, and I'm sure I have enjoyed it more due to it being in audiobook format.
Great character development and as such the characters really grew on me.
I enjoyed the random trips in time too!
Loved the premise of this book. It has such promise. I appreciate that the blurb was honest about our main character being an anti-hero. You need to settle into the plot first as it takes time to root for Joshua. I’ve gotta admit that the main draw for me was the narrator, Rupert Degas. I’m not sure I would have finished the book otherwise.
This one has been on my wish list for a while (well done Facebook targeted advertising!), and so I was excited to find the audiobook on Netgalley, and to have the chance to get a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
Anachronist is squarely in the Doctor Who/Back to the Future time travel genre, and also reminded me a little of Kingsman - young London lad taken on by a mentor with links to a secret society trying to save the world etc. As such, it felt cosy and familiar straight away, and I enjoyed that it was simple to follow and wasn't trying to be too clever for its own good.
The characters were good, from Josh to the Colonel, the eras they went to were painted pretty well, and the ausiobook narrator was very good.
Overall enjoyed this one, I'm sure I'll seek out the sequels.
